Doug Williams d. Alex Shelley to win the Pure Title.
-
No clue; all it said was "the crowd went apeshit".
-
Jimmy Rave was the new Embassy member, defeating Trent Acid with the Styles Clash. The crowd reportedly went "apeshit".
-
Alex Shelley d. CM Punk, Austin Aries, and Matt Stryker in the second four-way; Punk had Aries pinned, but the ref didn't see it. Shelley vs. Williams for the Pure Title later on. Whitmer & Maff d. Second City Saints in a wild brawl.
-
Dave Prazak just announced that Mick Foley will be at the 9/11 ROH show in New Jersey.
-
Roderick Strong & Jack Evans d. Dixie & Izzy in a match that included Becky Bayless taking one of Roderick's backbreakers and being held in a surfboard as the other Gen Next members walked over her back. Doug Williams d. Nigel McGuinness, John Walters, and Jay Lethal (announced as such); Williams and Nigel teased some stuff, but not much there. Carnage Crew d. Masada and Danny Daniels in what was reportedly a very bloody match.

Um...usually British people have an accent, unless it's something I'm not picking up on.

No offense (Shelley and Danielson are freakin' amazing), but I thought the thread was guys that you liked that, for some reason, everyone else didn't, or you didn't know why you liked them?

I'm with ya, brother. Darkness Hero = My Hero. Cannon/Dragon in Highland will collectively rock all of our socks off at the same time, then rock them back onto our feet just to rock them off again.

Well, according to everyone that has a computer, Jimmy Rave's a dumb-head, but I think he's awesome. He bumps and sells great, can work the mat well, and even shows a good bit of charisma as a heel (again, see his recent TV match against Onyx). I also think Murder-One's a heck of a brawler and old-school heel, but not many Wildside fans seem to agree. I have absolutely no clue why, but Eddie Venom seems to be getting to my liking lately. It's almost like he's Nate Webb's awkward, meaner older brother...or it may just be the intentionally lame jokes he was making on the apron during the four-way tag him and Nate had against the New Bad Breed (Ian Rotten & Steve Stone), the Wildcards, and Icarus & Jigsaw in Highland a couple of months back. Another guy that's been sporadically on IWA undercards lately that no one's really given any respect is Conrad Kennedy III. He can play quite the pompous ass heel, and he hung with Tracy Smothers at the March Highland show; that should say something.

The 31st is great with me, hehe...I won't have to rush through finishing the EoD Tournament. As for how to cover on HeldDOWN~!...how about, since the PPV starts a day early, we have HeldDOWN~! be very WCW Worldwide-esque...3 or 4 jobber matches, and then some backstage hype interviews "in the locker room"...whaddya think?
-
You mean when he gets bodypressed and rolls back onto his feet for it?
-
Sale's gonna go on for a while.

Indy wrestlers you just don't like
Phoenix Fury Legdrop replied to Youth N Asia's topic in General Wrestling
That Punk/Daniels match was during the period where Punk was actually focused on being a great wrestler, and not Mr. Sports Entertainment. Nowadays, you're more likely to see him cut a long promo about his lifestyle and not liking Ricky Steamboat than busting out a match like that. Btw, thecitythesky...just making an observation, but just about all of your points about workers are coming from an almost-two year old show. Workers change and improve or get worse during that type of time. -
From Bill DeMott about Billy Gunn and Bob Holly's finisher: "Too much GHB, and you're never getting up!" Isn't that just a teeny-eeny bit tasteless?

There's also an excellent Rave/Onyx Wildside Title match from a recent episode of Wildside TV, where Rave glides into his role as a heel, with little struts and mannerisms that would definately shut up those who feel as if Jimmy is "bland". -
Indy matches that have never happened
Phoenix Fury Legdrop replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I'm sorry, but I don't see the appeal in either one of these. This isn't even an XPW bias, since I think Chris Cash is a horrible backyard-level worker, and anything with him involved is usually anything but a "dream match". As for Kaos/Acid...well, I saw Kaos in JAPW a few months back, and I absolutely despised his match with Justice Pain. So, unless that's just a bad example of his work, I doubt I'd like him today. As for Trent Acid, let me show my affection towards him now... -

1) "Mr. Roboto" BJ Whitmer. Totally stone-faced throughout his in-ring time, bad striker, bores me to death. 2) John Walters. Hey John, Matt Stryker, Chad Collyer, and ten other guys called: they want their in-ring style back. 3) CM Punk. For whatever reason, ever since Ring of Honor became Ring of Punk, I've just not wanted to like the guy. -
Sonjay Dutt d. Roderick Strong to become Best of the Best Champion for 2004, Bobby Quance was crowned MVP. Then, M-Dogg20 returned as the thief of Sonjay's Jr. Heavyweight Title.
-
Jimmy Rave d. Nate Webb, Ruckus, and Chris Cash. This means that Rave can now ask for a shot at any title he wants and get it.
-
Sonjay Dutt d. Bobby Quance. So, it's Dutt/Strong in the finals.
-
Roderick Strong beat Homicide to advance to the finals. Somewhere in between the last two matches, people started throwing chairs around and such. I have no clue why.
-
Dan Maff d. Nick Gage in the first of the second round XSS Tournament matches.
