NNMX vs. Sk8ter Boiz, plus promo
-
For some actually feedback... shitty, as usual, but some nonetheless. I got the grey box of a small portion of the main event too. Stuff like this -- s -- was scattered throughout the show as well. I'm liking Alf's cheap heat gimmick, if it's a gimmick at all. Zack's a frickin' machine. I always marvel at guys who can handle writing more than one thing on a show and manage to keep each segment entertaining. Props to Eski for writing the beginning portion of the promo. And I haven't forgotten you sent me a PM about BB, Eski. I just can't think of anything at this time. Just in case you were wondering. I always enjoy FM's work but this week he was using some of my guys, so I was curious to see how things would come out. And he didn't disappoint, delivering a fun promo with The Dude and the NNMX that set up an equally fun match later on in the show with Sarcastic Simon vs. The Superstar. Very rarely do I see the commentary actually used to call the action, ususally it's only banter between the guys. I like the idea of a tie-dye leather X-Title. Good Rodez/CW segment. Crazy Vampire returns...as Jay Richards! I remember his last appearance, which I believe was his ONLY appearance. Enjoyed Hoff's segment, even if I don't remember it the first time. Reminds me to finish reading the Last Man Dancing match from LA. I'll read the main event tomorrow. But GPX are heels!
-
I got a kick out of the Caboose/sniper bit in the opening. The opening segment served its purpose in re-establishing Axel/Crystal. I would of liked to have seen Crystal get in a bit more offense before Hoff made the save, but Axel did get hit with a chair, and unlike today, a chairshot in the OAOAST keeps you down! Supes' squash match wasn't all that bad. I still haven't read the Last Man Dancing match so I don't know about the two men guys, but I judging by their promo Christian Wright is an RTC-like fella. I do like the names. CW reaches Ima Hoe type levels. Enjoyed the Hoff-Gunner segment. Anytime you can book a match without waiting till the last week like WWE is a good thing. After re-reading Frankies-THR, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was (I should've written entrances), but the finish does kinda come out of nowhere. It does lead somewhere, however. The match also mentioned the discontinuing of the Women's Title. Patty said he forgot to have Holly mention she have the belt to the RNR HOF during THR promo last week, so I made sure to mention it during the match, for those who care about the whereabouts of the Women's Title. Liked the "Cole's Bar" bit and Black T promo. Nearly one year to the day the greatest tag team in OAOAST history debuted. The match was enjoyable. And now there's two major North American sports who have a female official. I'd be the first to admit I couldn't tell a good match from a bad -- well I could, I just probably couldn't tell a good match from a great... Disregard that. What I'm saying is, I thought Alf's match was very solid for somebody who hasn't written a match in ages. Very promo driven show, as it usually is after a PPV, but still enjoyable.
-
It would of happened had I not been in the main event and actually had time to write it. In all honestly, their match a few weeks back wasn't meant to go anywhere, I just lucked into a story when I had THR return during two NNMX-Frankies matches. The match will take place this week, but I'm not too happy with it. It isn't bad but the commentary is piss poor and the finish comes out of left field.

I've been wanting to slim Brannigan down for the longest of time now. When I first started out the pic I used for my character was old school Jesse Ventura, and with me choosing 292 pounds because of the way J.R. said it during the Sting/Luger-Steiners match from Superbrawl I, it worked. But when I changed it to Rude, who is much more slimmer, I never bothered to change the weight. I put myself into a corner there and tried getting out of it by explaining the weight lost occured within the last few months, because nobody loses that much weight in a couple of weeks. So yeah, you put too much thought into it. Of course, it was Michael Cole who said, and he tends to say the stupidest of things so I have another out. As for the spot mentioned, it was a homage to the Arn Anderson-Barry Windham match at Slamboree 1993, one of my favorite matches ever. Arn whips Windham into the corner and backdrops him out. Without re-watching the match, I can't remember if Windham takes a few punches or not, but he ducks a left and that's when Arn hits the DDT out of nowhere. It's one of the few spots I mark out for. I'm not a great match writer like NYU, Patty, or Zack and the gang, so I apologize for any mistakes. And for the record, NGA co-wrote the match as well, the portion after Brannigan gets hit with his own piledriver.
-
The show is up at OAOAST Home Entertainment. I've only managed to skim through the show as I was putting it together, but it looked like everybody did an excellent job. Lots of good stuff IMO.
-
Excellent opening -- the video package, graphics, etc. We've had some real good ones the last couple of months. I bow to KC and NYU, whose writing of Schiavone and Ventura was absolutely fantastic. I think I'll use NYU's multi-colored "BOOM BOOM BOOM" to further inhance the look of our PPVs. The opening match was solid. Much better than I thought it would be after reading PK's posts. Good promo from Hoff. The Docs have snapped out of their funk! New champs. Not to mention a good match. The double-team tombstone spot was pretty cool and we got a BILL WATTS special appearance! Like NGA said, the PR recap was a bit too long. I do give him credit, however, for his passion and being able to remember stuff he wrote months back. Sometimes I can't remember the stuff I wrote two weeks ago. But I guess that happens when you're writing for so many tag teams at a time. I did enjoy TPR's promo. I like seeing Alf back. To tell you the truth, I kinda wouldn't mind seeing him in a OAOAST Title program with Axel. Patty's one of my favorite writers so it's no surprise I thought COD-NNMX was pretty damn good. When COD got the belts at AP I wasn't too sold on them. I turned out to be wrong. They had one of the best tag reigns, IMO. Useless tidbit: Originally the contract Alix signed was for a tag title match with custody of Maya on the line, as FM suggested in his post, but that got dropped. Enjoyed the CWM-SG match, as well as Hoff-Crystal. OMG! For the first time in a long time we had a graphic for the following month's PPV. I see we kept the basic design from last year. Very good. Only skimmed the rest of the card, but the LMD match looked hilarious. The pics were damn funny and I was only skimming through the match. The current longest title reign in the OAOAST comes to an end. But the Dude is champ, so that's groovey. Even without reading Zack-Black I'm pretty sure it was excellent. I'm very pleased with my match with Axel. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw Brannigan put Axel in a Bow & Arrow. That spot was originally in the first draft of my portion of the match, but I removed that in favor of the sitting reverse chinlock. NGA was great to work with, and I thank him for asking me to be his first major title defense. It was certainly different being involved in a World Title feud than a tag feud. Knowing you're involved in the biggest angle in the OAOAST, it really puts you on your toes to make sure whatever you're doing doesn't suck. Unlike Backlash, which is almost certainly going to suck, the OAOAST follow-up effort to their 'Mania was very good. EDIT: Job well done on the show NYU.

Promos from NNMX and Black T
-
Short HD this week. But it makes for easier feedback. Enjoyable interaction between Hoff and Crystal. Interesting development from the Dude-Rodez feud. Whether it's by design, the Dude gets himself into some funky matches that make it standout from all the others. Good Brock-Jumbo match. Even better post-match activities with Killings making his return and taking out Knight and Ausstin. I especially liked the use of a metal film canister as a weapon. Nice little COD promo and awesome "Weekend at Neddy's." Only minor complaint -- Watts isn't the head of the OAOAST film division. But Patty's cool, so I won't ride him on that. Sly's return was quite the shock. Damn Crystal and Gunner for ambushing Hoff while visiting the kiddies. That's so wrong. FM did an awesome job with TLS. It was just good seeing somebody other than a tag team doing a gimmick interview segment like TLS or The Body Shop. The Dude and Black T need to team up one day. Very good SG promo. Heh. I didn't know John Brickston become Italian Champ last week. It's been edited into the Title Histories thread. Rodez now has the longest title reign in the OAOAST with 6 months as X-Champion. THR skit was great. I hope to do THR-Frankies for LA, but I first must finish polishing my portion of the ME, that's why a match hasn't been announced. Excellent tag team main event.
-
NYU will post the show. So send everything to him.
-
I wasn't actually watching it, listening to it while I typed was more like it. Though it did give me an idea for Jivin' J.R.
-
I already said I won't "stonewall any decision." That means if you want to post the show, go ahead, I'd be fine with it. Like SG said, it doesn't matter who post the show. I think you'd do a great job. Off-topic note: The Raw main event is horrible. Whatever heeldom Lawler had left, which wasn't much anyway, is completely destroyed now.
-
Call it loyalty or whatever you'd like, it has more to do with Popick being my go-to guy for a long time, before Zack became the face of the OAOAST. But like I said, I won't stonewall any decision. I'm a team player.
-
Let Popick post the show this month, then he can hand over his PPV duties to NYU in June. I won't stonewall any decision to have NYU post the show this month, but I'd like to have Popick do it since I'm main eventing.
-
Same goes for the S.C.M. That's why HI-YAH was originally created, as a way for guys to take a leave with a decent excuse as to their whereabouts. If it weren't for Hell's Hitmen, the S.C.M. would of been back by now. There was a story in place for their return, but Eski most likely forgot about it. It's probably a good thing too, because the Hitmen deserved to be on AM somehow. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the S.C.M. storyline is still used at some point. There's a good chance all the major tag teams will have a feud going on by summertime.
-
Yes. Adam asked me about it, and I told him I got the feeling you wanted in. So there we go. I guess you two are writing it then. Gives me more time to finish up what I have to write.
-
Gotta thank you for that one, Eski. I saw you mention it last week, so I google'd "Brannigan's Law" and found its origin, which was used during commentary -- "I don't pretend to understand Brannigan's Law, I just know Tony's enforcing it," or however it was written in the match. Finished reading the rest of the show. CWM-SG: There's an aura whenever some of the odies are in the same ring together, be it any combination of Zack, CWM, Caboose, SG or Alf. Maybe it's because it takes you back to a time of innocence. A time where the OAOAST was nothing more than a thread in General Chat that eventually moved to Fantasy Booking, where it owned the place, eventually leading to VM and our move back here. Anyway, fun match. Good to see Brock will live on. I kinda get the feeling I said that last week. Rick Martel! Always liked the guy. How many ex-wrestlers are OAOAST agents? I know of Martel, Terry Taylor & Terry Funk. Onto the Zack-Black confrontation. Thought it was good. I don't recall the two ever wrestling one-on-one before, so it's one I'm looking forward to. Oh yeah. The Dude vs. Rodez at LA. I don't want to sound bias, but I'm pulling for the Dude. Excellent main event. Eski, lucky bastard. You got the ME slot. That oughta keep Brannigan from doing jobs in tag matches for quite sometime. To be honest, I was a bit concerned about Dan winning. Even though it was clear this was about Brannigan & Axel, in the back of my mind I thought Black winning might send the impression the feud's the other way around, that's why I suggested the Black T beating at the end. But everything came off great at the end. Eski & Adam did an excellent job writing the match, especially the beat down at the end, which I thought was very well-written.
-
Finally read the entire opening, and I loved it. Great stuff. Stone-Hoff: Excellent opening match by two of the best writers in the OAOAST. On a completely unrelated note, I always kinda liked Buff Bagwell. Sure he sucked in the ring, but I digged his character. Heck, I actually liked Totally Buff. You know, him and Lex Luger? Axel-Crystal: When the two hooked up I really wasn't into it, even though they had great interaction, it wasn't until the two began having problems that it caught my eye. Good story and match. Enjoyed Brock-Killings. I've been a Killings fan since the beginning, and I liked the spin his character took in the ring. The finish was certainly clever. Like some of the others have said, the Brock character has really come into its own in the last few weeks. Joy of X: Fantastic match. Laughed at the opening commentary. Alf's return: Lots of nostaliga here, and I liked it. Much like the JOX match, it was fun seeing a lot of the old guys return. That's it. I got the job done. I've left feedback for every match in a little over two weeks.

I know. I once had a WWF shirt with Warrior (with his arms up to chest, looking to the heavens), Mr. Perfect, Jake Roberts, the Rockers and somebody else when I was younger. It was the same shirt HBK wore for his Lumber Jack match against Jim Duggan on Raw back in 1993, which is available on a couple of CV.

More build for COD-NNMX, and Axel-Brannigan
-
Hoff was right, a lot of stuff this week. Awesome job. Didn't understand the opening segment, but still liked it. The randomness of Hall just popping up just put it over the top. Good SG promo setting up his match later that night. The Birmingham Bad Boyz are probably what the Heavenly Rockers should of been, just with a rock star gimmick. Still, any addition to the tag team ranks is welcomed. I thought PR's stuff was better this week. Skimmed the match. The usual solid effort by PR. Like I told Patty, I thought he did an awesome job with THR & Holly's promo. Excellent work. The "HOLLY, I WANT TO BE THE FATHER OF YOUR ABORTION!" line was hilarious. I'll be honest, I absolutely LOVED Alf's promo. Him going off on Shaq for sitting out games due to a stomach virus was great. Maybe that's because I'm a Spurs fan and know it'll probably be them vs. the Heat in the Finals. The Frankies-HR match was better than it had any right being. I spent most of the week touching up the Axel-Brannigan segment later that night, so I didn't pay as much attention as I would of to the tag match. But I'm pretty happy with it. Speaking of the Axel-Brannigan promo, I wasn't too thrilled with it. On one hand, I didn't want it to drag on forever; on the other, I didn't want it to be too short like I thought the first version was. As much fun as it's been going from tags to a high-profile feud, my promos are rather bland. By no means was the segment bad, it's just not as good as the other guys who can cut great promos here (Hoff, NYU, Zack, Patty, etc). Then again, like many of us, maybe I'm my own harshest critic. Us smarks bash WWE for their recent line of shitty shirts, and the best our marketing department can come up with is a plain shirt with an "H"? Spend sometime making a mock DVD cover. In all seriousness, I always enjoyed Hoff's use of graphics to hawk whatever's being sold. Good promo and match as well. The soap opera that is "Ned's my daddy" continued with another, I thought, very good skit w/Ned & Alix. I've had a blast working with Patty (who has become, what I guess you would call a writing partner) on those things. The opening before going to The Superstar's piece reminded me of PTI, where they come back from the last break with Tony midway through a joke, then Wilbon laughs. Yeah. Well, anyway, I liked that skit. Almost did one for last year's Angleslam with cameras on the set of Oliver Stone's epic "AS." A bio-pic on the namesake of the OAOAST, Anglesault. Would've sucked compared to SS work... As much as I loved Alf's promo, I loved the Dude-Rodez segment even more. "Saturday Night Beaver" was classic. The Docs-HH segment was weird alright, but it had its charm. Jingus swallowing an 7" Zack action figure, Ima never having had sex with Sean Waltman, etc. But the question on all our minds -- do the Hitmen now have a valet? Nice return win for Knight. Skimmed the rest. Looked good. Easily one of the best HD in a long time. I'll feedback the rest tomorrow. But let me finish my saying Adam did an excellent job with the post-match activities of Axel-Black.
-
Because Patty wanted it... COD-GPX: Even if the match had sucked just reading "Jazze Phizzle Productshizzle" would of made up for it. But the match didn't suck, so together with "Jazze Phizzle Productshizzle" it was a fun match to read. I'm surprised the addition of GPX's catchphrases into their theme song caught on, well, at least this one time. COD on The Tonight Show? Screw that. They're obviously Late Night w/Conan O'Brien material. Them and the Masturbating Bear together is money, I say. I was talking to P.O.G. yesterday and gave him feedback before I had actually read the match, telling him in advance that the match had hilarious commentary. He told me it didn't. He lied. Then again, I think he thought I was talking about the commentary from Triple C rather than the funny and sometimes goofy (in a good way) one-liners used during the actual match itself. In closing, the match rocked. We had a celebrity, Alix getting buzzed before the match, and two great tag teams getting it on in a non-sexual way. What more can the awesome OAOAST tag team division provide? Burning Sensation When You Urinate? Abosolutely hilarious. That's recently named, isn't it? I don't recall seeing the sunset flip piledriver referred to that before. Maybe I'm wrong. But I know I'm not wrong in saying COD need their own TV show. Ned could be the area bastard.
-
Frankensteiners vs. Heavenly Rockers BTW, Zack, there's a couple of things I'd like to pitch to you. Expect a PM, or a post in GCF. Hell, maybe both.
-
Very good promo from the new OAOAST Champion Axel. Unlike Batista, our champ gets promo time after his big title win at Mania. Patty already knows this, but he did a great job with HR promo. The Saints have marched on out (that's bad, I know), the Heavenly Rockers have stepped in! Truth be told, THR was originally going to be the team name of Synth & Logan. Took nearly a year, but it's their name now. The Devilman & the Franchise with a little backstory, all right. There's something you don't see every week on WWE -- a reason two guys are fighting rather than just because they got booked against one another. When I read Hell's Hitmen vs. Zack & SG was signed for HD-- I don't know, maybe it's because we haven't seen this before, but but I was excited about this match. And it delivered. Liked the catapult/big boot/backbreaker onto knees spot. Really enjoyed Black's promo. Black-Malibu is a match I look forward to seeing at LA. Now that I've skimmed the entire PR-Panther match, I never got the finish at all; now I know it was cut off because I don't remember seeing the "36:57" match time. With all the confusion about the Italian/24-7 Titles, here comes some more -- I thought we discontinued both belts. I wasn't too sure about the 24/7 one, but I thought the Italian Title was retired months ago. I second PK in saying Hoff-Crystal will rock. I kinda get the feeling the Docs attempt to get the Hitmen to sign a contract is going to end up with one of them going to the hospital, and I seriously doub't it will be the Hitmen. OMG! Christmas must be coming earlier, because not only did Dude get a big win at AM but now it looks like he's on his way to a title match. I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if the Dude is our next X Divison champion. Rodez is the Triple H & Jeff Jarrett of the X Division, except he's constantly entertaining. I'm pleasantly surprised at how good the Brannigan-Axel match turned out. While I have co-written a match in the past, it was a tag action, not singles. I had never worked with Adam before, nor did I have a good grasp on the Axel character (read his specs and match w/Stone at AM), so all the nerves I had co-writing for the first time came back. But Adam was great to work with, probably helping me more than he really knows. So thanks -- and a big thumbs up -- to Adam. Oh, fuck yes! The NNMX-COD shit was AWESOME! The Original Elite all vowed revenge against the men who beat them at AM...in separate promos noless. PK's return was certainly a nice surprise. I don't remember much of him since I wasn't paying close attention to our shows back then, but it's always good to see guys return. The more, the better.
