Table, Ladders & Chairs OAOAST tag title match: NNMX vs. Black T vs. GPX

Booking for the 8/12 HD~! from Vancouver,BC
Tony149 replied to Patty O'Green's topic in Brandon Truitt
Fallout from Black T's title loss Frankensteiners debut And the NNMX have something to say -
Fuck me? Fuck you! Come on, you set me up for that one. In that case I'll throw in a special bonus. What I have in mind is probably something you can get done quickly, but who knows, maybe it'll spawn something else.

As I was once told years ago: It's an E-fed! Since I never take the blame for anything -- it's everybody's fault for walking around like zombies. If you don't like something, say it. And blame it on Popick. The people have spoken. The pics stay. They weren't going anywhere anyway, but it was something I pitched to Papacita as I was having trouble finding anything for the NNMX. I'll be contacting you in a few days about something, Parka.

It was done to give the shows something different than some generic AS 3 or LTP 2, etc. July's PPV was original called LTP...Renewed, but when Patty came up with the prison gimmick it changed to "This Ain't Oz" (inspired by ECW's "This Ain't Seinfield") but when Popick made the PPV thread he used LTP and others started calling it LTP: TAO. That said, the "Dial AS for..." tagline was supposed to be just that, a tagline -- but when Papacita showed me the AS logo I thought it was damn clever so I told him to go with it. My fault for not letting him know about that. When the 2004 PPV calendar was created I had completely forgotten Sept.'s PPV name, which was called "Dirty Deeds," as Parka noted. "There's Always Darkness Before Dawn" was the front-runner for the November PPV spot, then considered as a subtitle for WWE in October. I like Parka's idea for a poll to decide names for Sept & Nov. Edit by Patty for correctness!

As seen on License to Pin: This ain't Oz, the OAOAST is allowing you, the fans, to decide who'll face Black T this Thursday night on HeldDOWN~! for the tag team championships. You have 4 teams to choose from: The Saints, Hell's Hitmen, NNMX & GPX. Vote now! Who knows, if this takes off maybe it'll become a regular feature. For you democrats -- a vote for anybody other than GPX is a vote for Bush. For you republicans -- see above, but replace Bush with Kerry. And no, I'm not trying to influence your vote (Actually, I am). But common sense says a vote for anybody other than GPX is a vote for communism. Edit: Fuck the commies. Outside of the wrestling world, GPX & Zack are tight. So vote against GPX and Zack will hold you down. Or "Franchise your ass!" OMG~! Shane Douglas reference.

PPV fallout with an interesting twist. I can't believe you highlighted this. Couldn't you wait till next week? No! Too bad.
-
Yes. Great show. I'm too lazy to give detailed feedback this week (shitty excuse, yes) but I loved everything. Didn't expect to see the 8 man Wildcard tag match main event, so that was a nice surprise. Eskimo did an excellent job with that. Great finish.

EoD: The winners are fans of gore. Blood! The Parka vs. J. Arthur Edwards: Parka Hell's Hitmen vs. GPX: GPX by DQ/countout (gotta keep HH strong) Jivin JR vs. Jim Cornette: The Rock 'n' Roll Express make a cameo costing their old rival the match DAY 2: Zack Malibu vs. Crystal: Zack NNMX vs. Black T: The Rock & Rolls return, this time costing BT the titles in their quest to wrestle every version of the Midnights ever created. That also leads to cameos from the other 3 incarations of MX. Drek Stone vs. Mad Cappa: Drek Stone
-
Hey Popick, don't forget the NNMX-BT & JR-JC matches are in GCF.
-
Not only that, but they used different camera angles during the Flair/Savage cage match so they could avoid any shots of blood on Flair's face, going as far as having Flair's head in black and white (with everything else in color) whenever there's a chance of seeing blood. We do get a cameo from the Loch Ness Monster, however. Turner Home Entertainment did some stupid things to WCW videos, although they did some good as well, editing out the fluff from Wrestle War '90 & Capital Combat '90, leaving 2 hours of good stuff. To keeps thing on-topic: Pillman was a great character.

Promos from NNMX/HH & probably from BT/GPX as well. 8 Man "Wildcard" Match: NNMX & Hell's Hitmen vs. Black T & GPX
-
Two strong back-to-back promos from Zack & Derek/Sly. Heel Zack is awesome. And Derek has quickly become one of the strongest characters here -- and he delivers the goods every week. Popick's mysterious storyline continues, this time with a match thrown in. It served its purpose. Good stuff from Parka, one of our best writers. The stuff involving The Saints has been gold thus far, and it continued tonight. Northstar/Lisa/Patty has done a better job developing The Saints than I could have. I was cracking up reading the commentary. The NNMX & BT promos were rushed but I thought they worked well; plugged the PPV matches and the NNMX's match against GPX. Once again, the strength of the tag division was showcased. Hell's Hitmen continue to be built up as a threat to everybody, and a soild match between the NNMX-GPX. Good start to what hopefully becomes as good a rivally as the MX-R&Rs. Enjoyed the Hoff-Crystal match that eventually became a tag match. Only managed to skim the final two matches, but I liked what I saw. In closing, probably our best show since the week before the GAB. Good chunk of matches and promos; the presentation was well done, too. While the segments could of been spaced better (which Patty addressed), I like the fact color/graphics were used to further drive home the point. It gives the show more life IMO.

Never fear, Hogan wouldn't pass up the chance to add to his beating big men award. He faced The Wall during the 2000 Nitro spring break, the last show before Russo & Bischoff returned on April 10th. The build up was classic WCW. Hogan did a promo in-ring and The Wall appeared on top a building signaling for the choke slam. How Hogan won I don't remember. Could've been via DQ.
-
I thought it was well-known. Anyway, from what I understand, the heat comes from J.R. thinking Jesse didn't do enough home work on the matches, and Jesse thinking J.R. prepared too much. Unless I'm reading way too much into it, at Superbrawl III, Jesse threw a jab at Ross by telling Schiavone, who was talking about something history related I think, that some guys who prepare too much can get fired.
-
I voted for Ross/Ventura. Monsoon/Ventura, McMahon/Ventura & Monsoon/Heenan were great as well, but with Ross & Jesse, you had the best play-by-play man working with the best color commentator. The fact they don't like each other makes it even better.

The second coming of the MX-Rock 'n' Roll Express feud begins next week: NNMX vs. GPX.
-
Yep. Send everything to Stephen Joseph.

It was called World Championship Wrestling, named after the real program of the same name before Turner decided to name his newly bought promotion (from JCP Promotions) WCW. The show ran for about 5 weeks before getting canned because of the effort it took to produce it (I think I wrote most of the show with a few guys pitching in occassionally). The shows can be located in OAOAST Home Entertainment. When we moved back to TSM, Alf did a rush job and cut and pasted the shows from VM to HE, cutting off portions of shows (GAB 2002 being one of them).

Being a WCW mark, especially early '90s aka before Hogan, that sounds good to me.

Wasn't the sit-in in response to Vince calling Tyson the toughest man in the world ... or whatever it was ... and Austin took offense to it? I'm almost sure it was pre-WrestleMania, but I can't remember what the sit-in was for for the life of me. Austin's sit-in was indeed because he was pissed McMahon called Tyson "the baddest man on the planet." A bunch of WWF officials came out to reason with Austin but he wanted McMahon. Eventually Vince came out, and Austin ripped off a piece of his coat. It's a DVD extra in the Best of Raw vol. 1 & 2 DVD. And yes, you guys are right, it was pre-WM. Here's another question (forgive me if it's already been asked): I've read Jim Cornette returned briefly to WCW in early 1993 with the original Heavenly Bodies. What was the deal with that? I know Bill Watts was involved somehow, and it lead to the Rock 'n' Roll Express wrestling at Superbrawl III, but where was it going, if anywhere? Watts got canned shortly thereafter.

The All-American Boys (II & III) are glorified jobbers, if you want to use them. Or you could face the tag champs Black T, since we're always looking to face human opponents and not teams coming from our heads. EDIT: If you're looking for a quick squash, go with the AABs, or NY's idea. BT ain't doing no job.
-
I'm with you, I say 24-25, but I've seen it both ways. PFL might be the one to ask since this event's his baby.

OAOAST tag title match: NNMX vs. BT Tuxedo match: Jivin' J.R. vs. Jim Cornette

Enjoyed the back-and-forth talk between Calvin & Derek. Not sure who wrote what, but both are two of the best writers the OAOAST has. Seeing two heels wrestle puts a smile to my face, since Black T is going against another heel team in NNMX. Short and sweet promo from Sly. Did a good job establishing he desire for Calvin...in a wanting to kick his ass kinda way, of course. My lovechild, the NNMX made their in-ring debut, and what a debut it was. Old-timers remember the original AAB, the gimmick wasn't a good idea back then (trust me, I'm the one who suggested it ) but it made for a nice little wink wink to the past. Damn anti-American fans. I'm sure our Chairman of the BOD didn't appreciate those punks abusing the first amendment. Went old school with Cornette demanding to see the referee's ring license, then getting ejected, setting up the fantastic retro beating backstage in NNMX locker room. I've only managed to skim through the rest, but I thought all the promos, especially between Synth & Alix, were great. Lisa, Northstar, whoever you are today, awesome awesome job handling The Saints. I didn't even notice poor Logan did the J-O-B. Paying to much attention to their rock-n-roll and groupie huntin' than their wrestling.
