Mike, I agree regarding the 12-3 time slot, but it still doesn't take away from the fact Stern is in a tougher time slot. And I'm sure a BUTT-load of cable shows would kill for a .7 rating. Stern has his niche, makes money and that's it. I miss the old Stern who would actually make good points regarding current events. I'll never forget the video of him at Pataki's inaguration ceremony back in the mid-90s...

One thing I will give the nod to in regards to Stern over Rush is that Howard is in a much tougher market -- morning rush hour drive. What else is on from noon-3 p.m.? And I didn't know about the "Opie gag order." Got a source for this? Oh, hold on a sec while I make my request official. OMG SOURCE PLZ...

I think Stern gets hit the "hardest" because he's the biggest fish in his pond, and like I said before I really haven't been paying attention to Stern for a few years now so I don't know if the anti-Bush stuff is the "reason." I think Janet Jackson's boob played a bigger role, imo. I stopped taking Stern seriously on this debate when he called Michael Savage "pro-Bush," which tells me he doesn't know what he's talking about regarding this matter. And I think shows like The Shield (which I watch) are helping stir the "regulate cable" debate, which I disagree with. Personally, I think the V-Chip helped start all this. After all, by giving ratings to TV shows, all you have to do is look at what it's rated and block that show, giving tv networks the opportunity to put whatever they want on and say "Well, we rated it so don't watch it..."

I heard Rush say this (it was either Tuesday or Wednesday), and I did a double-take. And Loaded, you do realize that Howard has had problems with the FCC for years now, right. If memory serves, he got handed a big-ass fine in the early '90s, but due to the limited media avenues at the time (or at least as compared to now) it didn't seem that big a deal as it does now. And for the record, I was a Stern fan for years until he got on this Oh-woe-is-me-Bush-is-out-to-get-me complex. For me his most entertaining parts of his show are when he talks about current events. Whenever he would have the lesbian strippers on that's when I'd change the station...

Well if it makes you feel any better, I'm much more established than you and it took my four years to get my own b-day thread (well, actually three, but my b-day has passed at this place four times). And what did I finally get after three-plus years of providing thought-provoking, insightful posts? This. Oh well, at least it's something...
