Speaking of JV, the old JV men’s basketball coach was also one of Hampton Middle School’s eighth-grade science teachers, Mr. Kuniak. He was one of those “cool” teachers, but I hated him. He sent out these mid-quarter “progress reports” that he called “green sheets” that we had to have our parents sign each grading period. Seeing how I always failed his class, I really didn’t care if I turned mine in or not. After a few weeks of him bothering me about it I finally forged my mom’s signature and turned it into him. Problem was I forgot to erase what I had written on there before, which was “Get a woman faggot.” I realized I forgot to erase this while HANDING IT TO HIM and tried to take it away. It didn’t work. He read it, asked if this was my handwriting and then, after I said yes, simply said, “erase this it’s unacceptable.” My lab partner was in tears from laughing so hard once he saw what I had written on my “green sheet.” How did I ever pass eighth grade?...

Wow. So I get home this afternoon from grocery shopping and there's a message on my answering machine. I got the job. I'm still in shock, especially considering how horrible I did at the second interview. Now I'm not one of these people that goes "Oh I did bad" over every little thing I do. It's just that I'm not afraid to admit when I've messed up, and man did I blow that second interview. Here's an example of how horrible I did: While I was in the middle of answering this one question asked to me by the organization's president I FORGOT WHAT THE ORIGINAL QUESTION WAS ABOUT and went on for about 20 seconds about NOTHING while I desperately tried to remember what the original question was. Man is the better half going to be bitching at me when she gets home from work -- she kept saying after my first interview that I had this job and I was so freaking miserable (I have been rejected for so many jobs in my past it's not even funny) because I didn't think I'd get an offer. I know I wouldn't have hired me after my joke of a performance...

I heard about this today, and all I have to say is: HAMPTON HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1994 -- GO TALBOTS!!! Interesting, back in my day Deer Lakes and Hampton wasn't much of a rivalry -- We were AAA while they were AA. Richland seemed to be more of our "natural" rivals (even though they were AA, too, at the time of my high schooling). There was tension between the two districts though because Hampton was more upper-class than the West Deer area. I have no idea who this guy was (nobody in the grades above and below me had that last name) and I hope he gets sued for every penny he's got. This was completely inexcusable, and upon reflecting back I seem to remember Hampton parents being very supportive of their teams without having to act like assholes. I used to play soccer (not for the school) at Hampton and it was funny because whenever we went to play an away game at some place our parents ALWAYS outnumbered the home team's crowd. I'm genuinely surprised that this event took place...
