Well, I just heard the interview. First 20 minutes were spent talking about Al, a certain cable news network and how mean You-Know-Who is. Next 10 or so minutes were spent actually talking about parts of the book and religion, which I zoned out of because I don't care. Next 10 minutes had the host asking why he called out book critics on his show (I guess it's OK for a reviewer to let their opinion be known but not let the subject of their review counteract). I laughed, I cried, I peed, I followed the MLB playoffs on my desktop. I would also be interested in seeing how Al's interview was treated in Fresh Air...

I know I only heard one sound bite that You-Know-Who selected to put on his show on the You-Know-What channel. I'm going to see if I can download the entire thing now. I have used punch cards to vote in the past and there's NO way someone can screw them up unless they are not paying attention to what they are doing, and they are not capable of following instructions that are less complicated than constructing a square make out of eight Tinker Toys. I was a commuter student so I was never exposed to dorm food. The few times I ate at school weren't too bad, but if I was consuming that stuff for an entire academic career I'd probaby say otherwise...

Interesting. My old job had disgusting bathrooms so the only time I would go for this is late in the day when hardly anyone was there -- it cut down on the smell factor. Sad thing is most of the guys where I worked didn't care about any of this poo-etiquette. What do you call it when somebody misses the toilet completely and poos on the floor? That didn't seem to be covered in the first post...

It was a mistake -- should have been the other way around. That's what happens when I try to get this up ASAP at 1ish in the morning. That's why I ask people to double-check my results for them...

Because Braves fans knew they weren't going to win the World Series. And back when Pittsburgh lost to Atlanta in the playoffs in '91 and '92 I remember the Braves announcers making fun of Pittsburgh fans because they couldn't sell out their stadium. As for the should-fans-use-"we"-when-talking-about-a-hometown-team discussion. Well, fans pay the tickets, but the t-shirts and stick around longer (and with greater loyalty) than any of the team's actual players do, so why not? Personally I would never support a local team that contains a bunch of people who don't give a crap what happens to me just because they play in the city I live in/near, but that's just me. Besides it's so much fun to watch these die-hards when their team loses. So flame on -- it's not my community that will have to pay for the clean-up costs...

I was watching the Dolphins/Giants game Sunday and was curious as to the difference between "taunting" and those custom dances some athletes perform. It's OK to do that thing Joey Porter does, but if Sam Madison (I think it was him -- it was a Dolphins DB) spins a football, looks over at the Giants sideline and says something that gets a 15-yard penalty?...

They've been pimping it, including using some of those annoying-as-hell mini-ads within a program. God I hate those. I remember one show on TBS back in August -- that horrid original movie with the shark and Coolio -- where they popped up an ad for college football with a cheerleader doing high kicks. I thought for a few seconds it was part of the movie and that the shark was going to eat her...

Same could be said for OJ...

I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I've talked to people who are. They told me that even when the race is decided early on, there are a lot of "mini-races" between other cars going on in hopes of getting a higher-placed finish. The Calif. "mini-races" between established political figures and pop figures may be more entertaining than the Big 3. Go Gary...

There's this referendum where I live that will enact this on a local scale if it gets enough votes, and I'm just curious about what everyone thinks. I don't know why, but I would vote "yes" for this. It just seems lame for someone to run for a position, lose and then settle back into what they were originally doing. If you believe in something enough you should have to sacrifice in order to accomplish that goal...

Attention MLB gurus: Where would Tejada (sp?) go? I keep hearing Oakland won't re-sign him, which I believe. However, a lot of big-money teams already have All-Star shortstops. Just curious if any teams have already expressed interest in him yet...
