This topic came up in the Week 1 Prediction Thread, and I want to go in a bit more detail regarding it because I feel it’s a valid point. The idea was brought up of anyone involved in my contest to PM your pics to me so there isn’t anyone trying to “wait-and-see” what teams his opponent picks and then adjusting his own selections for a better chance at winning for that week. I didn’t think this problem would occur because doing such an action could affect your standing in Bravesfan’s contest, where overall scores are judged. However, I can understand why some people would want to PM their selections instead of leaving them out for his opponent to see. If the vast majority of you vote "yes" and we enact this PM policy, I would wait until the deadline has passed for posting predictions, at which time I will add all your picks to the weekly Prediction Thread. When you PM your picks to me, I’ll let Bravesfan know that you submitted your games to me beforehand so you don’t get DQ’d in his contest. If the voting results are evenly split on this, then those that want to PM me regardless with their picks can still do so. And if I’m your opponent for that particular week don’t worry about me employing this “wait-and-see” strategy – as one can see from my Week 1 performance, I tend to disagree with my opponent quite often, mostly to my dismay…

Well I say hooray for Seattle -- 'bout time we tax something other than cancer sticks or beer. I love the populist slant of only taxing the yuppie coffee. Heaven forbid government, at any level, just cut back on spending spending. And while we're on the local angle, this would be like Pittsburgh taxing pierogies...

But the big question is did Hovan get his man? I'm assuming he didn't since all the highlight shows would have made a huge deal of it...

I use the home-row technique. Learned it after a few weeks in high school's typing class. Since then I've typed around 65-75 wpm. Important thing to remember -- most of the rarely uses letters are in the hard-to-get places (q/z/x). Also, don't be afraid of making mistakes -- walking (or should I say typing?) on eggshells will only make it worse. The lesson plans I used when starting this were to practice in each section of the keyboard (working with asdf, then jkl;, then qwer, etc.) Oh, and don't worry about the number row -- I always stop and look down to make sure I have the right number selected...

Oops, when double-checking I made a counting error on your game and forgot to change the standings. You're not 0-1, yet...

My insults are "feeble" because what I really want to say will get me banned outright. (Don't worry about looking like the "bad guy" by reporting me to a mod -- you have already accomplished that feat in the eyes of quite a few people here.) I would love it if you dropped off the face of the Earth, but I would be just as happy if you didn't acknowledge me at all on these boards. I don’t read anything you write and I’m quite content with that. I read your “Depp” post because I saw that someone was responding to me and didn’t check out the avatar in time. I then asked you if you could just ignore me on this board, and it snowballed from there. Aside from you, I don’t have a problem with any other poster on this board. You should be proud because it takes a lot to get under my skin. There won’t be any “venomous attacks” on you, inside or outside of this folder, if you just ignore me – it's not too hard to do. So basically, when you see this guy: Just skip over that post. Trust me, you won’t be the only one doing it. And if you want to call me names to my face on AIM my name is fww76. "Store Standards"? When I did that stuff at some of the places I worked, I gleefully called it Village Idiot Work. Not that it isn't important -- if you don't have a good village idiot doing all the basic cleaning, it makes the cashier's job a lot harder to do...

But did any Christmas decorations get damaged? Oh, this is kinda related to a Wal-Mart story (can't believe I forgot about this): Sunday night when my better half and I were returning from Wal-Mart (wait, it was SUPER Wal-Mart), we stopped off at this restaurant called Kings. Anyway we were sitting there when all of a sudden our waitress starts putting tables together and placed at least a dozen kids menus. I cringed. Minutes later these three black women (one of them at least 7 months pregnant) come in with 18 KIDS!!! We counted. And no, there was no hint of this being a birthday party -- it looked like a regular family outing. My favorite line was when one of the kids shouted, err asked, for some grahmcrackers and one of the "adults" said, "You ain't getting no goddamn grahmcrackers boy, now shut the hell up." Needless to say I didn't stay around to order ice cream. And boy did our waitress look mad (MikeSC, if you read this, I'm sure you know why she was mad)...
