Ooooh, I'd forgotten about that . . . . I wonder how they'll get around that? If they blank-out every instance of an announcer saying "Hulk", it'll sound like something similar to crap. Maybe they'll work out some sort of one-time royalty or something of the sort in order to release the set. Or, the other possibility is that this is as bogus as a backalley horseracing bet. I'd love to see another Hogan set, but it could just be a cruel joke Or would RELEASING the set be a cruel joke? Discuss

Click on this link: World Tag Title History - it's the "work in progress" of the World Tag title history on WWE.com. There's no link anywhere on WWE's site for it, and it's by far not complete, but it looks like it should be an interesting one. And oddly enough, guess what team is featured on the graphic at the top of the page? Money, Inc. I found that to be an odd choice, but cool nonetheless.

I think that offer is for the VHS versions, if I read it correctly. The DVD's are still much higher. I don't know about the VHS shows in the UK, but all the WWE VHS releases over here are recorded in EP mode, which is the absolute crappiest video and sound quality available. Blecch.

An interesting find here . . . . Check out the US Title History page, it's not entirely complete, but they've started on it. There's not a link from WWE's page anywhere - I just found it by trial and error messing with the web addresses for the rest of the Title Histories. Starts with Flair's title victory vs. Jimmy Snuka in Greensboro 4/19/80.

OK, new quandry here . . . Should the Cruiserweight title history acknowledge the few WWF Light-Heavyweight champs there were from '97 to '01, or should it just be ignored and strictly follow the WCW Cruiserweight title history? Methinks it should follow the WCW version of the title, with a "mini-history" at the bottom of the page explaining the absolvement of the WWF Light-heavy title into the current CW title. But they're not that ambitious . . here's thinking all previous WWF LHW champs get ignored completely.

While the second part of that is actually true, most "casual fans" that have followed wrestling since pre-'91 associate the Big Gold Belt with the NWA years as well, just due to the fact that Flair introduced that particular belt as the NWA World Heavyweight Title back in '86. I daresay most of those fans could give a rip less about the whole NWA-becomes-WCW-but-not-really fiasco from July '91. Most of those fans usually just think that the NWA became WCW, period. They have no clue about the way the whole thing worked. In fact, I have one of those "causal fans" as a friend, and he pointed out that "Flair's old NWA belt looked weird on Triple H" . . . so I had to have a little talk with him The title history section of WWE.com should've at least claimed the history of the title going back to '91, as it deserves to be. It sounds cheesy and lame to say that "Bischoff dusted off the old WCW belt and handed it to Triple H." That statement in and of itself makes the belt sound less meaningful. They ADMIT that it's the WCW title, yet fail to use the WCW's title lineage in the history. Unless they just refuse to have David Arquette's name attached to anything on their site, it's just crazy. The title history paragraph should've read something like "Feeling that RAW fans deserve their own World title, Bischoff decided to reinstate the World Heavyweight Title, using the WCW belt, and proclaimed Triple H the new champion. This title dates back to 1991, with such stars as Flair, Sting, Goldberg, and Booker T laying claim to a title reign." That would've given the belt at least some semblance of importance. But they couldn't be that classy, could they . . . had to just make it sound like a junk title, even though it's main eventing PPV's ahead of the actual WWE title on most dual-brand PPV's. And, going back to the Fabulous Moolah thing, she was recognized in America as the World Women's Champion since 1956 when she entered WW(W)F, and the title just sort of became a WW(W)F title. I don't think it belonged to any specific territory or promotion pre-WW(W)F.

I don't mind the Mongo/Roma footage so long as it's in a documentary form (i.e. in the main 2 hour feature or whatever) highlighting the entire history of the group. But so far as extra matches go, there should be NO Misfit Horsemen footage to be found.
-
I think . . . well . . . I HOPE it's possible. There's so many more Flair matches that could be included, that it's just crazy to think that there's only gonna be one collection. Of course, with a Horsemen DVD set possible soon, we should get more Flair goodness for sure.

I'm having conflicted views with this . . . . Trips being handed the title was bad, no doubt. It should've been contested in a tournament, or something of the sort, even if Trips ended up with the title, at least it wouldn't seem as contrived as just handing someone a World title. So for that, I've always seen some "tarnish" on the Raw belt, even though Benoit helped rub some of that "tarnish" off . . . That being said, I just can't view that belt as "shit", because I feel it's been good for both brands to have World title . . . gives for some comparison, and adds to the competitive feel that the brand extension was supposed to produce all along. Plus, whether WWE wants to recognize it or not, that belt is as historic, if not moreso, than the WWE title that JBL has. Just my personal opinion, that's all. As for Lesnar? I welcome him back. I didn't like the way he left either, and I'm sure that there's a lot of fences to be mended in the locker room as it relates to Brock. But the business is at a point where it needs all the help it can get, and if you have a major player like Brock back in the main event scene, then I'm all for it. I'd bring him to Raw, trade Orton and/or Michaels to Smackdown, and let the games begin.

You're not missing anything with HBK:Boyhood Dream . . it's his Coliseum Vid release from early '97 . . . just clips from his first WWF title run, mostly.

I dunno either, I reckon Molly is gorgeous but putting morality aside, she's hardly the traditional Playboy type is she? She's just well, too normal. I really doubt that there's any chance in hell of Molly being on there, though I'd love to see it . . . she's as natural as they come, I'd say they'd airbrush the hell outta her for pictorial though. Natural boobs, natural curves . . . and she doesn't strike me as the type that even shaves her . . . well . . . you know . . . Meow. And forgive me, but there's something moderately innocent and sexy about that. In other words, Molly's got about as much chance to be in Playboy as Nicole Bass on a bad hair day.

Slaugher was US champ back in the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling days, I believe late 70's - early 80's. I've seen several pictures of him wearing the old red-strapped US belt - the one which the main plate was a map of the US.
-
Yep, my thoughs exactly . . . this new personalized US title belt just has a "Heel steals the belt/throws it in the river/runs over it with a car/puts it in a wood shredder" angle just written all over it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is nuts. Personally, I'd actually like to see them use the belt permanently . . . take Cena's name off of it, make the plate not spin, and it's actually a classier belt than the current US title belt . . .although, I happen to be one of the few people that actually likes that belt as well . . . .
-
Hey man, I can't guarantee when I'll get around to it, but I would love to do a few reviews for your site. I've got practially every WW(E)F Coliseum Video/Home Video/DVD at my disposal, so I can help out if I've got some extra time.

I guess I'm probably the only loser on here that buys every WWE DVD, except for the Diva crap. What can I say, I'm a completist, I guess. Got them all since WrestleMania 15, and will probably continue to get them. My wife is amazingly OK with it, I guess because I let her buy all sorts of makeup and clothes and shoes and crap. The way I see it, my DVD collection takes up MUCH less space than 50 pairs of shoes. DeepDiscountDVD usually has them so damned cheap, it's hard to resist them. They've already got a preorder up for all the PPV's through WrestleMania 21, and they're all $13.48 each, free shipping - except for WM21, it's $16.18. WAY cheaper than all of the competitors, including Wal-Mart. Sometimes you have to wait about a week or so after the release date to receive it, but hey, I'm a patient guy.

Definitely agree with that one . . . . that match is also on the WWF Slamfest video that was released in late '95 or early '96. If you can find the tape, pick it up, it's worth your time and money.

What's wrong with the Cruiserweight and Tag Titles? The SD tag belts just look so indy fed to me, maybe its all the blue on them. I also hate how the jacked the look of the old WWF tag belts to make fans think that the SD belts share the WWF World Tag Team line when they don't. The Cruiser belt is just the WCW model with a WWE logo slapped on it, and too just smacks of something you see defended in a high school gym. I like championship belts that look like they mean something rather than looking like something you get for sending away cereal box tops. The Cruiserweight strap only looks like WCW's old belt in shape . . . it's totally redesigned from the old one, it's one of my favorite belts, actually
-
Exactly. There are hardly any DVD's I'd turn down at that price, unless it's just brutally awful. Every match involves Bret or Shawn, so that makes it an automatic must have at 5.50. If it was any more than that, I might think about it first, but at 5.50 . . . . you can blow that much at McDonalds in 30 minutes.
-
I believe it's Jan. 25th, same day as the Andre DVD. If they're anything like the Michaels and Best of WM DVD, you'll immediately find them in WalMart's 5.50 bin when released. DeepdiscountDVD is selling them for 5.99 apiece on pre-order.
-
Now, with that being done, how will they do the history of the World Tag Belts? I assume that it will be the complete lineage of the WWF tag titles, but there's also the WCW tag titles that were merged in there as well, and they deserve some attention as well . . . . Confusing, eh?

I attended the 12/6 Smackdown house show in Johnson City, TN (probably 1500-2000 attendance in a 6000 seat building), and it appears that Jesus was injured during his match with Charlie Haas. The dreaded "X" was given after the match to call out the trainers, and he had to be helped to the back after 5-10 minutes of attention in the ring. I don't think this was a work, as it was fairly abrupt and came out of nowhere. Guessing maybe a groin injury or something of the sort, I guess we'll find out more later today or tonight at the Smackdown tapings. All in all, a good house show despite the low turnout. Here are quickie results: UT defeated Heidenreich after the Tombstone. Massive pop for UT, probably the biggest of the night. Could've been worse, it was actually a watchable match. Miss Jackie defeated Dawn Marie in a match that was 10 times better than it had any right to be. Must've been a good night for the women all around judging from the response to Lita/Trish last night. JBL defended against Booker T and Eddie Guerrero, defeating Booker after a WWE belt to the head. The most entertaining part was the pre-match promo by JBL against Teddy Long, and the bits of match where Booker and Eddie wrestled each other. Other than that, bleh. If JBL could defend the title simply by cutting promos all the time, he'd be a fantastic champ. Sadly, though, you have to wrestle. Kenzo/Rene defended the tag belts vs. RVD/Mysterio. Match of the night, no doubt. I think Kenzo pinned Rey after his backward-slam thing, but I was distracted when the pin occurred, so I'm not sure. Chavo defeated Kidman. Good match, 'nuff said. Jesus defeated Haas after a rollup - see above for injury story. Big Show defeated Angle/Reigns/Jindrak in a handicap match - no doubt a test run for Armageddon. Show pinned the cronies after a chokeslam to both as Angle looked on. Passable match, hopefully will get better for the PPV. Spike defended against Funaki, Nunzio, and Shannon Moore. OK match, but too short. I think Spike pinned Funaki, but I could be wrong about that. All in all, an entertaining house show, but nothing out of the ordinary by any stretch. But hey, I'm easily entertained, so I may be a little too positive about it. Lack of a crowd really hurt the atmosphere, but the guys really tried to put on a good show, so kudos to them.

First review of the Chyna/X-Pac sex tape
res37618 replied to GreatWhiteNope's topic in General Wrestling
This is, quite possibly, the most hilarious yet physically disturbing thread I think I've ever seen on any board, anywhere, period. ANYONE who wants to watch that video in its entirety for anything other than comedy purposes needs to be examined. I think my penis actually inverted itself instead of becoming erect at the sight of those pictures. -
That's absolutely true . . . . with business here in the US being as bad as it is, I think it's important for WWE to take their show overseas, they pretty much draw sellouts everywhere they go in the UK, Australia, Japan, etc., . . . as long as travel expenses don't eat up a lot of the profit, I think it's smart business during this "down time" in the wrestling world to make money where you can . . . if it's overseas, then so be it.
-
I don't think they'll EVER be another PPV taped in the UK, like SS92. With spoilers leaking out on the 'net just minutes after an event, it's very likely that it would cause the buyrate over here to fall kinda badly, especially if the show looks like it stinks . . . .
-
I agree to a point, but I also see the need in having all the belts for each brand. If you look at each brand as a seperate fed, so to speak (at least that's what the seperately branded PPV's are supposed to accomplish), then it's necessary to have a full set of titles for each brand. With only one world champ floating between the brands, it causes storyline conflict . . . . should his main feud be on Smackdown or Raw? What does the other show do when the champ is caught up in a feud on the other brand? Can the fans really buy the IC or US title as the main belt for each brand? How does it affect house show business (which is already bad) when one brand can't even advertise a World champ appearing on the show - after all, he can't be in two places at once. I think the problem with the World titles at this point is strictly storyline-based. Smackdown's title seems weak because the main event feuds have suffered since before WrestleMania. And Raw? Well, until it's not the HHH show anymore, then we'll all be complaining. If they really want to shake up the title scenes, then some talent swaps are in order . . that, coupled with some elevation of new talent, and better writing, would make things at least seem better, even if the financial numbers don't show it. My two cents, anyway
