I pre-ordered Harley Race's book. The man was God in his peak (which was like 30 years). I've read and listened to countless interviews and Harley Race is a real down-to-eath, classy guy. I can't wait to read about his times with Dory Funk Jr., Jack Brisco (I also bought Brisco's book, excellent), Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Larry Hennig, etc.

Steve Austin wrapping a steel chair around Pillman's weak ankle and "Pillmanizing" it. Steve Austin going to Pillman's house, beating the snot out of Pillman's muscle (sticking the guy's head in the doorway of the jeep and choking him with the door), breaking Pillman's door window to break in. Steve Austin brutalizing Bret Hart's knee with a chair, puts an ambulance hat on, kicks the driver out, and brutalizes it more in the ambulance truck.

By the IWC, Who is is the most Overrated Wrestler
Austin3164life replied to a topic in General Wrestling
Shawn Michaels cannot lace Austin's jock-strap in the ring. While Shawn was better overall athletically and had excellent speed and agility, Austin was a MUCH more intelligent, realistic worker. Shawn's best match (probably vs. Foley at Mind Games) can barely crack Austin's top-10. This quote says it all. "I knew he was the best worker in the business -- a heck of a lot better than Shawn Michaels, who had the top spot at the time. Michaels was a great wrestler. It's just that Austin has a much more solid, realistic style. Besides, Shawn and his real-life clique loved to stir up political trouble, whereas the Austin I knew at that time was a level-headed guy and a leader in the dressing room."-Bret Hart, SLAM Wrestling Column, 12/4/99 Also, to say that Austin never had a good match after 1998 is purely absurd. Austin's work from late 2000-late 2001 is one of the best stretches of a WWF wrestler, especially a main eventer and WWF Champion. His complete carry-jobs with The Rock and Kurt Angle stand out, as well as his fantastic bouts with Chris Benoit and Triple H. His work in 2001 alone is better than most of Shawn Michael's career. Don't try and tell me the massively overrated Iron Man is better than any of Austin's high-profile 2001 matches. -
Neither of these matches qualify. I would've preferred to see a finals between Flair/Steamboat (Chi-Town Rumble) against Austin/Hart from Survivor Series 96. Eh, in any event: Austin/Hart- WM 13
-
The most entertaining? Definitely Austin/Foley at OTE. Sports-Entertainment at its finest, until Austin/Rock from WM 17 came around.
-
Austin/Michaels vs. Owen/Davey >>> 2 Man Power Trip/Canadian Connection. Faster pace, better offense, more drama, WAY more intensity, hotter crowd, etc. I love the 5/01 tag, but I love the tag that took place 4 years earlier way more. Another candidate I'd add is Michaels/Foley 8/11/97.

When the hell did Antonio Inoki hold the WWF Title? Anyway, Kahran got it right in stating that Diesel's was the most damaging.

Best Bret Hart World title defense
Austin3164life replied to Australian Pride's topic in General Wrestling
vs. Bulldog, IYH 95. FAR better than the SS 92 (Summerslam) match, because Davey works hard here and Bret blades. A better story is told and I love Bret's face-in-peril stuff. Runner-up goes to Survivor Series 92 against HBK. -
Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Toshiaki Kawada- 10/24/91 One of the deepest and richest matches of the 90s, if not ever. It opened up the door to King's Road and the rest of the Puro stuff that I fell in love with.

The last great world title match
Austin3164life replied to Australian Pride's topic in The WWE Folder
Austin/Angle is a masterpiece crafted by Austin. Austin holds Angle's hand throughout the whole thing and basically shows us how to build to a finish. Whoever thinks because Angle didn't win the belt the match sucks has to watch it again. -
When / If Angle Returns to the ring
Austin3164life replied to Ultra Violence's topic in The WWE Folder
Paul Heyman is a perfectly fine choice. -
The first ever wrestling show I saw when I was a kid was Wrestlemania 4, and the main event hooked me (DiBiase/Savage). I got into both guys so much, and what made me dislike Hogan was the fact that he cheated to help Randy win (I was a HUGE DiBiase mark).
-
Wrestlemania 17 was the absolute peak of everything the WWE is all about. It was the peak of the Attitude era and the peak of Wrestlemania (capped off with a timeless classic).
-
Fans get pissed of because they feel that a wrestler shouldn't care about his personal life and should devote his life to pleasing the fans, not realiziing that any profession (be it teaching, electrical, or sports, or wrestling) workers go for the money first, and the adulation next.

I'll definitely order this one. About GOD DAMN time.

The "new" phenom Undertaker looks stupid. He looks like the character that John Turturo plays in "Secret Window". All of Hooter's marked out like a schoolgirl (I kind of did, seeind the druids), however my friend and I were like "what the fuck? he doesn't look different".
-
Only reason I'm somewhat stoked is because I'll be at Hooter's watching a bunch of drunken fools howl when the Undertaker comes out. I'm going with a few friends to eat, and watch the show. No damn way am I ordering this at home.

All the more reason to hate the WWE creative team.

It'll be hard to get the fans to forget that Cena has already lifted up the Big Show for the FU (they REALLY killed it by having that spot at No Way Out), but the best thing they can do is have Show brutalize Cena's leg for about 6-7 minutes, and then, in the final 3-4, Cena's persistence starts to gain him some momentum. Throughout the second half of the match, have Cena surprise Show by attempting the F-U at least 2-3 times. Cena should fall in anguish and clutch his leg. They need to set up a big spot where Show hurts his neck (which is what Cena's offense is based around). It gains Cena some momentum and he can also use time to rest his leg. Then, at the end, you can have Cena get out of the Chokeslam attempt and hit the FU out of nowhere for the win. That way fans will remember how Cena never gave in to the pain in his leg, and somehow found strength to lift Show, after some 2-3 attempts.

He is a bit too young and too new to make these type of remarks, but he has the right idea. Whether you like Brock or not, if he keeps up at the pace he's going, he'll become THE man in the WWE, hands down. I also cringe at the idea of Brock being fed to Undertaker. And the whole loyalty aspect is such BS. Billy Gunn has been with the company for over a decade. Should he suddenly get inserted into a main event program because he never left for WCW? No. Why? Because he SUCKS. Why should Bob Holly get a main event push all of a sudden? Because he stayed with the company for so many years? He is not a good worker as well, and don't apologize for his lack of in-ring abilities. Brock is already better than 85% of all the workers in the WWE, and he's only around 27. I don't think he should be getting a million World Title reigns, but don't keep putting him into the mid-card, and then just insert him with a main eventer out of no where. Look where that got Kurt Angle. The reason Undertaker or someone established can go into the mid-card is because he's already established as a legend in the fans' eyes, so they'll cheer him no matter what, and he'll always get attention. Brock is still proving himself to the promotion and the fans, so of course he needs to protect his spot. If Triple H realized that he can work a mid-card program without losing his heat, he wouldn't be viewed as such a dickhead.
-
Question is, who was controlling the match, Hogan or Andre?
-
If Kurt were to retire, he'll always have that stigma "what could've been" attached to him. I think Brock is his counterpart that will realize his full potential, rather than Kurt who didn't due to his neck condition. It's a shame, because they FINALLY got it right with Kurt and this heel turn.

Biggest card movements from Mania XIX to Mania XX
Austin3164life replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Biggest Promotion: Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, John Cena. Eddie and Chris were in Tag Matches last year, and this year they're involved in World Title feuds (w/Eddie being the "true" WWE Champion). Cena didn't even make WM XIX last year, settling for the pre-show rap where he dissed JayZ and Fabolous. This year he's in a somewhat high-profile match against Big Show for the U.S. Title (which has regained it's value a bit).
