- John Leiber's out after two innings, so he must be hurt. - What the hell has happened to Doug Davis? He had command issues last year, but it's killing him this season. Little league defense behind him didn't help him in that five-run, 40-pitch first inning.
-
Brad Penny revealed after the game he's been pitching with injuries, but he was still upset he wasn't allowed to finish the inning with the three-run lead. Of course, with the way things were at the time he was pulled, there may not have been a three-run lead if he'd been left in there.

Dusty may be an idiot, but I guess I can live with the knowledge that he's got someone on his tail and he's in the same division.

Albert just hit #25, a three-run shot, to put the Astros up 3-1 in the 7th. Garner lifted Oswalt after six and 91 pitches. I'm not sure why, though. He looked like he could've gone another inning and he was pinch-hit for to lead off the 7th, so it wasn't as if the Astros had a RISP and Oswalt due. And as wild as Lidge has been, I'm not sure why Garner wouldn't bring him in with two outs in the seventh, Pujols due and the game certainly hanging in the balance. Ah, that's right. It wasn't a save situation. Surely won't be one in the 9th, either. Genius!

Although the Tigers eventually got three walks, they were impatient the first three innings. I think Johnson threw less than 30 pitches through the first three frames. Cubs got their weekly win and have scored more runs in the last two days than I think they scored the rest of May.
-
I think Aramis Ramirez has tried to go yard six or seven times in the last game and a half.
-
What happened? I like how Juan Pierre realizes he can't hit with RISP, so he bunts the first pitch and just moves over the runners to second and third and leaves it up to Womack to come through. He was probably bunting for a hit, but c'mon, take some pitches and poke the ball somewhere. And why do I have the impending feeling that if Womack keeps doing okay, the Cubs are going to deal Walker when Lee returns?
-
Holy shit, Aaron Boone just tried to make a catch over by the cameras and wound up flipping over the railing and looked like he landed on his head. Looks like he'll be okay, but that was a three or four foot fall right on the head there.

Man, I grew up on Memorial Day and Labor Day baseball marathons. Poker is not a god damn sport. Just because most of the participants work about a nice sweat picking up cards doesn't make it a sport.
-
You should feel for the fans, but not the organization that has turned the team into a three-ring circus.
-
Dusty's a genius! Double-switch to bring in a guy who's gone hitless in his last 18 games. Piss-poor fundamentals strike again. But hey, at least the Cubs keep finding new ways to lose games.
-
It's up to Perez, Bynum, and Pierre. I don't care what happened in the ninth, this is no good.
-
It's not their way to give up the key hit with less than two outs.
-
Good thing we put Hairston out there.
-
I knew that was gonna happen. Anytime Ramirez has time to think of a play, bad things happen. This is indeed, Major League.
-
Whoa, Mulder got rocked. Eight runs in 4.1 innings.
-
For anyone keeping score at home, Cubs now have four guys in the game who can play second base. That's ugly when you consider they're not gonna win this unless they slam one out.
-
They actually have had that since he hit 714.
-
Cubs are only winning this if they get a walk-off and since we don't have any power due for another five or six spots, the Braves may snag this one.
-
With Walker, Ramirez and Jones due, look for three guys trying to end it with one swing.
-
Braves fans need to relax. The Cubs have a habit of making things interesting, but ultimately falling short. Watch for a homer in the top of the 10th.
-
Then again, never underestimate the suckness that is Reitsma.
-
Crap. It's up to Bynum and Pierre. This is gonna hurt.
-
Neifi can cement his legacy right now by grounding into a game-ending DP.

So can we forget about the guy for a while?
