    X-Men 3

I haven't been a huge fan of the series, but this was pretty terrible. It started out promisingly, but it fell apart in no time. I know they've built up the characters in the previous two flicks, but just about everyone felt hollow here. I had no reason to care about most of the involved parties. And I know this is supposed to be the last one, the amount of deaths seemed unnecessary. I know I was supposed to care, but I just didn't. My main beef was the script, I guess. Visually, it was an exciting movie, but the script was just awful. The lack of character depth was one thing, but some of the dialogue made me wonder if a 13-year-old had won a contest to write parts of the script. Seriously, "I'm the Jugganaut, bitch!" OMG THAT'S SOOOO FUNNY! The crowd ate it up like it was the wittiest thing ever blurted on the silver screen, but I just sat there wondering if that's all it takes to amuse some people. Definite popcorn movie, and I asume the casual movie-goers will dig it, but as even a novice fan of the book, it's a pretty terrible flick.

    Oh that Kyle Farnsworth.

Oh well. If you're going to be bad, go full out. I'm discouraged the Indians have been so mediocre this season. If they don't do something about their pitching, they won't even be a factor in that division.

Is that the game where LaTroy hit the baserunner in the head with the throw to first last year? It certainly is.

It's not that difficult, really. You've seen the Cubs' heads-up baseball before. I'm just trying to figure out how they're gonna put a spin on this one. I guess even Brenly ripped into Neifi for being so shoddy in his play. At any rate, this ranks right up there with the LaTroy Hawkins loss to the Phillies last May.

Indeed and good for him. He can rest assured now the Cubs have found ways to lose games since he and Stoney stopped costing them games at the end of 2004. Andruw Jones hit a deep fly to Jacque Jones to tie it up, which I guess would be okay, all things considered. He makes a decent throw to the supposed cut-off man Neifi, who bobbles the ball. Giles takes this as a cue to try and score and Neifi makes a throw home that would've sailed over Andre the Giant's head.

I'm at a loss for words. Instead of venting with more profanities and just sounding even more crazy, I'll point to the highlights. Neifi Perez has no business on the field and Baker has no business in the game. The players make the plays, but the manager is responsible for such sloppy, pathetic fundamentals. But it's all because Derrek Lee isn't back yet.

I quit. Fuck Neifi. Fuck Dempster. Fuck this whole stupid team. Two runs scoring on a sac fly. Only the Cubs.

Mike Maroth is heading to the DL with an elbow problem, I believe.

It's bittersweet the difference in this game is Freddie Bynum's home run.

It's been like that as long as I can remember. It's the same way with the games on MLB Extra Innings. So, I guess I'll jinx it and point out that despite giving up a run, Zambrano hasn't given up a hit so far. It doesn't matter, though, since that first inning killed any chance he had of finishing out the game. He's thrown as many pitches in the last four innings as he did in the first.

Bynum = 0-2 with RISP today. But he's speedy. It doesn't make sense Restovich is in the minors while Bynum's on the ML roster.

Can't be any worse than him in leftfield. Too bad Murton's not in the lineup. He may have driven in Ramirez from second. Thank god we have Freddie Bynum to preserve the shutout.

Zambrano: 37 pitches in the 1st. Hudson: 11 pitches in the 1st. Zambrano down 1-0, but he's got the no-hitter going! Walks clogged up the bases so much the Braves have a run without a hit.

This is what the Cubs get for not firing Baker yesterday: Pierre Neifi Walker Barrett Jacque Ramirez Bynum Cedeno Zambrano I'd better go find something else to do today. Baker clearly doesn't want to end the losing.

You forget Tony Womach, second-baseman extraordinare, is on the cusp of being called up. It's about to get worse. Man, at least Blanco was decent by backup catcher standards in 2005. This year, he's got TWO hits. I bet he still bats ahead of Matt Murton.

Did they pull him DURING an inning or in between? All the highlights I've seen completely side-stepped the issue.

    NBA Conference Finals

Wow, I hope they don't blow this. I told someone who isn't watching the game they won a couple minutes ago, figuring with a minute and change left and a 10-point difference, they couldn't piss it away.

Did he really cry? I can't tell with you sometimes, Al. And those Rangers sure can hit. It was looking like a laugher earlier.

Oh, one last thing on the Tigers: it was mentioned on the ESPN day game yesterday that if the Tigers only play .500 ball the rest of the way, they'll still win at least 90 games. I've been a naysayer all along, but it's going to take a Cubs-like meltdown to not at least snag the WC at this rate.

Hey, no one's mentioned the Mets have added another crappy pitcher to their starting rotation. I'm not sure what Dave Williams and his 7.20 ERA can bring to the table, though. Of course, this does mean the Reds basically traded Sean Casey for Robert Manuel.

Why do the Royals even bother showing up? Props to the Tigers, but even the Tigers radio announcers couldn't help but note the pathetic state of the Royals was the key in the series. I still like how the Tigers play the full nine innings, unlike other teams that have managers who pack it in after the fifth inning if they're down a few runs.

He was against LeCroy as a catcher, though, wasn't he? I thought Bowden was the one who wanted to use him as a catcher.
