I was gonna mention that. Naturally, the guy I'm facing this week has him going. Must be frustrating as all hell to be having the game of your life and be losing.

I'll take anyone. I'm just wondering how Gene Clines, the Cubs' alleged hitting instructor is still employed. I mean, the Indians fired Eddie Murray when the team got off to a slow offensive start and the Cubs have been MUCH worse. And yet, they remain. I'm beginning to accept that with a regime of Baker and his boys, in addition to Hendry and McPhail, this team isn't winning anytime soon.
-
And I didn't realize until today's game just how much they gave up to snag a leadoff hitter with a OBP that's nearing the mid-200s. But it's okay, because once we get Prior and Lee back, things will be fine. And the Astros were crap last year and came back in the second half. Am I forgetting any of the other Jim Hendry propaganda?

I went out to watch the Spurs and Mavs, but does Dusty have to just give up on every game the Cubs are down? What logic is there in removing Matt Murton in favor of Freddie Bynum in the fifth inning? Against a team like Florida, no less, where you should never be conceding defeat. Any day now with that contract extension. And damn the A's for losing. I figured things were well in hand when I saw it was 4-1.

We'll take him. Actually, we probably won't, since he's not a threat to steal 580 bases if he gets on.
-
Man, the Cubs suck.

I can't remember the last time Juan Pierre didn't try to lead off the game with a bunt. Juan, buddy, no one's surprised by your bunts. Your job is to take some pitches and possibly get on base. One or two-pitch at-bats are pointless.

Oh man, I didn't realize I had called her Rachel in my first post. But yes, I stand by the rest of the comment.

Tonight, Matt Murton, the guy with the third-highest OBP on the team (not counting Derrek Lee), is being protected by: the pitcher. Awesome. I guess he should be thankful his protection isn't the pitcher AND Neifi Perez. Meanwhile, Cedeno's been moved back into the two spot, despite an OBP of .313. Here I thought we'd left the 1980s, where some managers actually thought speed at the top was more logical than high OBP at the top. Oh well, it's just the Marlins, but surely some of the Cubs' offensive woes could be fixed without roster moves or the return of Derrek Lee (whose legend is becoming more powerful than Christ's, thanks to Jim Hendry).

Hefty by your standards. Having never seen her anywhere but behind a desk, I can't gauge her dimensions. Real pretty face, though.

Must be because of yesterday's win. Apparently on the North Side of Chicago, five wins in May is considered a success.

Your line about Boone getting injured. It was as if you were saying, "Man, if Boone hadn't gotten hurt, we would've never had to deal with that A-Rod schmuck." You followed that up with recalling Boone's lone achievement with the Yankees, while overlooking all A-Rod's done for the team. It's as if it doesn't count, since he's never sent the Yankees to the World Series with a walk-off homer. That may be the case, but at the end of the day, a win is a win. No matter what NY fans want you to believe, there aren't asterisks next to the victories over the Royals or teams not located in Boston. Wins over teams like Boston have more to do with pride and that's fine. But don't act like wins over inferior teams are inferior themselves. Lord knows we hear bitching when that happens, anyway.
-
Well all know the perceptions of guys like Abreu and A-Rod not being clutch or simply posting "empty numbers" are just that: perceptions.
-
Sorry, Jack, but the idea that you'd prefer Aaroon Boone over Alex Rodriguez may be one of the stupidest things ever said in this folder.
-
They're signing Richard Hidalgo, too.
-
You'd be bitching about Boone instead of A-Rod. Duh.
-
So when Barry hits 715, does that mean we can stop hearing about him for a while? Or will it suddenly becoming: The Chase for Aaron?
-
Okay, who had one start in the Kerry Wood injury pool? He's got a sore shoulder and may miss his start in Florida.
-
Wow, the Cubs with a comeback win. I didn't see anything but the first inning, but when I heard it was 4-2 Sox in the eighth, I figured sweep. I thought my friend was putting me on when he said his dad had told him the Cubs won. And AJ's still a piece of shit. I wish Zambrano had beamed him.

Jesus, I hate Hawk Harrelson. Listening to him makes my stomach turn.
-
P.S. Dusty ripped on Rich Hill, too.
-
Especially they continue to pitch to him. It's crazy to think they're still tip-toeing around Barry, but they'll pitch to Albert in virtually every situation. His homer last night was understandable, since it came with two on and no outs, so the Royals could ill afford to walk him.
-
Leena probably just made his day with that proposition.

Hey now, I find myself watching more ESPN News than usual when Rachel Bonner is on. Mmm mmm good.

There was like a half a page about it in this thread.
