You know, it pains me that Bob Brenley has this rep as a good/great manager because he has a ring. I see all these Cubs fans DEMANDING Brenley be "brought down from the booth" to manage the Cubs. Uh, he's pretty much like Baker. No one seems to look at his rotation featuring two 20-game winners that season.

That doesn't count, because the game didn't seem to be on the line. Some near drama in Cleveland. Kenny Rogers threw in on Eduardo Perez, who apparently didn't like it, as he managed to say "fuck you" AS he fouled off a later pitch. Pudge played mediator and cooler heads prevailed.

Who would you like in there instead, Jose Valentine?

Well, that sure didn't take long.

Pulling Hamels was probably a good idea because of the pitch count, but don't you guys have Delluci on the bench? Or did Nunez and Alex Gonzalez impale him with a bat so they could get all the key pinch-hit at-bats?

Because I want to see the Yankees give Melky Cabrera and Kevin Thompson a chance. I much rather see some rookies get a chance who both have had great springs than see them get traded away to a team for a player that I dont want. But you still didn't answer why you don't want him. Yes I did say why I didn't want him. It's not my fault you cant read. I clearly stated that I wanted the Yankees to play Melky and Kevin Thompson during this stretch and see what they have in them. Plus Abreu had a horrible second half last year, he is due a ton of money the next couple of years and I really dont want to see the Yankees adding payroll, especially to their outfield. If I were to see the Yankees add payroll I would hope it would be to pitching and not another bat in the lineup. I thought the portion "...traded away to a team for a player that I dont want" was referring to Abreu.

What's your basis for not wanting Abreu? Besides brain damage?

It's not bad enough they can't hit, pitch or play fundamental baseball. But them being babies like this on the field is embarrassing. Grow up.

Playing for one run is additionally stupid with Glendon Rusch coming into the game, too.

Lord, I'm so sick of the sac bunt. By some act of God, Neifi gets on to leadoff the inning. Naturally, this means that Cedeno, who singled in the first, should give himself up to move the runner to second! Not surprisingly, the Cubs didn't score. Angel Guzman with another bad outing. Almost 90 pitches through three and five more walks.

Why do so many people hate Abreu? If he's dealt for two MARGINAL prospects, I'll break something. It will show there's no justice in the world that he can be traded for that and Jacque Jones can get a three-year deal for $16 million.

I hope today's game gets rained out. Lineups like this make me thing there are some credibility to claims Dusty's trying to lose: . J Pierre, CF .232 2. N Perez, 2B .185 3. R Cedeno, SS .300 4. A Ramirez, 3B .217 5. M Barrett, C .292 6. J Mabry, 1B .220 7. M Murton, LF .278 8. J Hairston Jr., RF .259 9. A Guzman, P .000 I'm still trying to figure out why Murton isn't batting second. If Neifi's gotta be in the lineup, how bout not putting him in such a prominent spot? God, I hate Baker.

That they aren't on pace to win 162?

Can we add Jose Guillen? He's never been considered a superstar or anything, but the praise he does get seems unwarranted. I saw some Cubs fans saying we should trade for him (going as far as to say they should trade multiple prospects). I recalled how bad he's been this season and decided to compare his offensive stats to Jacque Jones'. Not that surprisingly, Jones has more strikeouts, but sports better figures in homer, walks, average, and OBP. He's tied with him for RBIs. But yeah, a rightfielder (Guillen) who's batting in the .240s with a sub-300 OBP and only five homers shouldn't be considered anything to look twice at.

Yeah truth be told, if the Cubs aren't gonna do it (hahaha), I'd like to see the Reds come away with the division crown, if for no other reason than some new blood in the postseason. That and they have the offensive blueprint I can only dare to dream the Cubs some follow.

The Nationals are hopeless. I didn't even get to see the finish since the digital cable channels all went out.

Wow, very Cubs-like baserunning from Freel.

He's on his way, but it seems like he struggles with his command. Unless he's facing the Cubs, that is.

P.S. Rick White shouldn't be pitching in games the Reds actually want to win.

Why's that? Frankly, I applaud Robinson for using Cordero in a tied game rather than save him for a "save" situation. And now the Nats are in a position to win the game. Not because of the situation; just the quantity of pitches he threw. You should use your best pitcher when you need him, not when it's just a save situation. I'm not complaining, either, since he's in line to win, which is good for me. True, but the Reds had two golden opportunities to win it in the 9th and 10th. Frankly, there were lucky to be in that situation in the 10th because of Quinton McCrackhead's unpunished baserunning blunder, but they couldn't come through. But the throw was so terrible it almost negated him getting to the ball, which wasn't all that spectacular of a stop to begin with. Shortstops are expected to get to balls like that; a great one would've at least made a throw that wouldn't require Andre the Giant to catch it.

Getting back to the Reds game, I must question the sanity of Frank Robinson of bringing in Cordero in a tied game and letting him throw nearly 50 pitches.
