Oh please don't start with the curse talk. Injuries are a part of the game. The Cubs are unlucky, but people are too quick to point to every downside being part of this "curse."
-
Derrek Lee's wrist IS broken. He'll be out 8-10 weeks. Bye, Cubbies.
-
I'm trying to figure out why Jason Kendall felt the need to swing at a 3-1 pitch with the bases loaded, down by one in the bottom of the ninth, especially when two of those runners were on base because of walks.
-
And Scott Eyre's out on the play, too. Great.
-
Walks clog up the bases! They also help win ballgames. I'm more concerned with Carlozo seemingly unable to get through a start without walking at least three guys.
-
Sort of off-topic here, but I couldn't help but laugh at the use of "snarky." We had family over for Easter and my mom and her sisters wouldn't stop playfully arguing about the legitimacy of the word. My one aunt even went as far as to go find a dictionary in the house to look it up. That parlayed into a discussion of what words they'd rather say, during which I found out my mom's disdain for the words "toes" and "belly button." Carry on.

Greg Maddux is putting on a clinic at the expense of the Dodgers right now.
-
See. If he hits three homers every day, we won't have a problem. I can't believe it was that simple!
-
I know many won't agree with me, but there's something about games between NL West teams that absolutely bores me most of the time. Perhaps it's the mediocre teams around the division, but damn if I didn't think, "Boy, I can actually get stuff done tonight," when I saw these two were playing.
-
Probably a bad thing. Not likely they'll be able to put up nine spots against contending teams regularly.
-
P.S. on ESPN News, they teased highlights of the Mets/Brewers as a "possible playoff preview." How many of us are aware that it's April?
-
I came here to post almost the exact same thing. As soon as Marquis singled, I figured it was over. Pujols is just too good not to come through against a guy like Weathers. Gotta wonder what the team would be like with him down for any stretch of time.
-
That error by Hanley Ramirez may have been one of the worst I've seen in this young season. How do you miss a throw that badly with that much time?
-
Speed's pretty pointless when you don't get on base. I agree that if you do, it puts more pressure on the defense, but I'll take a team with a high OBP and no speed over a bunch of guys who rely on scratching out infield hits each time up.
-
They seriously covered that? I was watching the last couple innings. That double came in the ninth with him leading off. The importance of that had ceased to exist when the Dodgers had tacked on the third run in the bottom of the 8th, meaning Barry would no longer represent the tying run. Stupid ESPN.
-
Yeah, freakout totally warranted. Especially when the Yankees haven't been under .500 this late in the season and still made the playoffs. Christ.
-
I know he sucks, but with your lineup, three runs isn't a big deal. You'd figure these Yankees "fans" would be aware of that by now. Angel Pagan got hurt, so that makes three Cubs rightfielders this week that have gone down.
-
It's the second inning. Shut the hell up.
-
This is why stealing bases is overrated. Angel Pagan singles with two outs and is gunned down by plenty trying to steal second with Matt Murton up. Moments later, Murton doubles down the line, which would've easily scored the speedy Pagan. Nats have been thrown out two or three times already, which is proving to be big in a tied game.

Wow, A's retake the lead with three homers on three pitches. I've got the TV on in the other room, which meant there were three instances of me hearing the homer, followed by three instances of me going back into the other room just in time to miss the next one.
-
Ah, I love Rotoworld's biting commentary. Somewhat tame, but humorous reaction to Victor Santos' poor outing against the Cubs tonight: "We can't be sure, but it's likely that Santos' struggles in two of his three starts have something to do with him not being very good."
-
From the at-bats I've seen, he seems more impatient. Bad times to be a Dodger or Dodgers fan. Yhency Brazonban is gone for the year; he'll be undergoing Tommy John surgery soon. Maybe I missed something. I didn't realize there was even a problem.
-
You can if you live in New York.
-
If they were playing the Cubs, Hall would've dropped a three-run bomb there.

"Watching" the end of the Reds/Cards game on MLB Gameday, I must say that Scott Spiezio's mugshot makes that goatee look like a Photoshop job.
