These Mets fans are pretty hostile. I understand no one likes to see a lead in jeopardy late in the game, but damn, the boo birds have a short leash.

Understatement of the week. I've noticed the strikezones have shrunk all around the circuit so far this season.
-
Jim Edmonds having another rough game. His third error in two games (one more than all of last season) and three K's, including one with the bases loaded in the 8th, down 1-0.
-
Cubs were up 8-2; I turn off the TV, figuring I can get some work done and turn the TV back on to see it's a two-run game with runners at the corners. Boo.

I was gonna post the same thing. Seems to get through the lineup the first time without a hitch and then there are problems. Might not matter tonight, thanks to Matt Murton, who just cleared the bases with a three-bagger. Because of that stupid wall, he's missed a solo shot and a grandslam. Alas, it may be all the same, since he scored the first time and is poised to score with one out this time. Watching the Red Sox game, I wonder how much Seattle regrets that whole Adrian Beltre deal. Guy just looks sad these days.

That's an understatement. He could barely get down the dugout steps even with two trainers helping him. On a positive note (for some), Craig Wilson finds his way into the lineup again. Sad statement on Pittsburgh that arguably one of the most talented hitters they have can only get into a game when someone else is hurt.

I love it when Al gets even moderately pissy; just because he's usually so calm and collective that when he's not, it's hilarious.

Whoa, did I stumble into an AOL chat?

Now we get to hear more conspiracy theories from Hawk about the ball being juiced.

Crowd's booing Izzy, by the way. You know you have to be struggling for the St. Louis crowd to boo you.
-
Dear god, the Cubs can't hold down the Reds.
-
And then he made another jumping catch near the wall to save the game with runners at the corners. Lending credibility to the adage about making a great defensive play and then batting in the next inning, Lee homers to lead off the top of the next inning off Izzy.

I can't be the only one thinking the Mets 7-1 record is a bit misleading. You can't take anything for granted, but they've only played the Nats and Marlins; two of the worst teams in the NL. I'll reserve judgment for when they play some contenders.

No thanks to Mr. Unclutch Abreu. Psh.

In addition to Jacque Jones getting hurt, Aramis Ramirez apparently hurt his ass (literally) with a big swing late in today's game. I'm pretty sure I recall the swing, but damn, what dumb injury. If he goes down, say hello to Neifi!
-
I motion we don't play the Reds anymore. Holy hell.
-
I wonder if Bronson will dedicate his Silver Slugger award to Glendon.
-
They smacked Arroyo around last June, but looked lost against him last week. But I agree. These series are never good for team ERAs.
-
I was surprised to see Izzy get brought in to get six outs, but I figured it was just LaRussa rationalizing that the big sticks were up in the eighth and that's when the game needed to be saved. Has Looper pitched yet?
-
I need a non-Cubs fan to tell me if he went around. Certainly looked like he held up from the side.

All things considered, the Cubs should be happy. Edmonds had a chance to put this game out of reach and it was only a matter of time before Pujols got a hit. With the bags full, Wuertz couldn't really work around him. With five at-bats left, no reason why the Cubs can scrape together a couple more runs.
-
I just realized I've been pinning an "s" to the end of his name. D'oh.
-
I should add that there are times when I think Aramis Ramirez makes better throws when he doesn't have a day and a half to throw over to first.
