Did Maddux not start today because of pitching too recently? Seems odd he wouldn't start the second game of the season.
-
Last couple Opening Days, Cubs have broke out the lumber, only to scratch out two or three runs the second game.
-
I only recall a guy with a stupid winter hat on "trying to make a difference."
-
P.S. it's April 3rd. Can we save the Yanks/Sawx pissing contest for the middle of the month?
-
Gotta admire the A's outfielders still going all out in the field despite this being a 10-run game.
-
Wow, HHH is an awesome face...oh wait.
-
Anyone who says they didn't mark a little bit for Thomas' homer isn't a baseball fan. At least the A's fans had something to cheer about. This Yankees lineup is going to be sick this season. I bet we still get lots of complaining, though.

The Baseball Tonight crew is up in arms about the Bonds thing. Poor Nomar, but I couldn't help but laugh just because it didn't take him a full game to get hurt.
-
Good to see Rollins extend the streak. It's funny how some people are saying he only needs to hit in 21 game for the record, as if 21-game hitting streaks come cheaply. Considering how the likes of Hudson and Carpenter did today, I don't feel so bad about Zambrano. Coming in during the sixth, I was able to see why there were so many walks; real tight strike zone for both sides.

Cubs tie their Opening Day runs record (set last season) with 16. That probably means they're getting blanked on Wednesday.

I'm telling you, there's something about Opening Day. Griffey just did the homer walk with the bases loaded and scared the shit out of me, but it was just a deep flyout to center. Dunn followed by striking out, which amped up the boos. Send him this way!
-
I love Opening Day. Everything's so fresh and you have to remind yourself that how your team fares on that day won't necessarily be indicitive of what the season's going to be like. Adam Dunn sure looks uncomfortable out in left today. You know things are bad when Cincy fans are booing you.

Stupid class. Looks like I'll have to catch the last fragments of the Reds/Cubs on WGN Radio or something, since I don't get out of class until 4 and then I have to head over to the other campus right after to take an exam.

I like JBL's facial expression there.
-
Cleveland's pen looks awesome! Back-to-back walks to lead off the last three innings.
-
Boy, am I glad I stayed up for this!
-
Well then. Walks will kill ya.

This place is never happy. There is always something to bitch about here. Exactly. I don't like Cena, but I can't believe how many people are in such an uproar that HHH didn't win. If he did, it'd be a week before they were bitching about HHH winning.

Three innings in and Sabathia's out with an injury. Not a good start.

Kruk is the one who said Randy Johnson would win 30 games last season. I stopped taking what the Baseball Tonight crew says, as a whole, seriously a while ago. Gammons is the only one who seems to have a clue what's going on. And Dave Campbell, but he seems to be regulated to ESPN Radio and guest spots on ESPN News.

HEY, GOD DAMMIT, HOW DO YOU THINK WE CAN AFFORD JACQUES JONES AND JOHN MABRY?
-
Yeah, I was surprised to hear that we're getting the same SD Triple Threat title match at the house show we're going to next Saturday.

Which skipper gets the boot first? '06 Edition

Robinson shouldn't go, since it's been the incompetence of the organization that's going to result in them battling the Marlins for the cellar in the NL East. I'm betting Dusty gets an extension before the year's over. -
Barron's got a point. I prided myself on getting every WWF PPV from mid-1991 up until mid-2003, when things got so bad I just couldn't justify going along anymore. Last year's Mania was the first one I didn't watch live since 1992. I still haven't seen it. A friend of mine's getting it tonight, but I'm not even sure I want to put off some things I should be doing instead to watch it. That says a lot about the card. Up until two years ago, I would've paid whatever to see it. Now I might pass on a free showing.

I stopped reading after this since I was quite certain nothing after could top the visual it created.
