I just read that Marquis Grissom is going to sign with the Cubs. When I began to read the blurb, I thought, "What's this old timer in the news for." Then I finished reading it. Damn.

What are you up to?* Where in the world is Czech?

Hit The Penguin With The Mace

I don't think that matters. Hitting a mine on the first landing is really the key to having a realistic shot at breaking 1,000 feet. Even then, you need at least two or three more first-bounce mine landings to do it.

    Worst Song of 2005

You know, I thought the exact same way the first few times I heard it. But it grew on me, as much as it pains me to say. The backbeat still sucks, but it's got a nice, deep bass during the hook and some of the wordplay's relatively clever. My girlfriend still makes sure to note how embarrassed she is whenever I insist we keep it on the radio.

    2005: How was your year?

Not bad at all. Didn't do as well in school as I wanted to, but well enough to stay out of hot water. Thanks to the acquisition of an iPod, I was able to become real dedicated to working out, which has subsequently altered my eating habits. Obviously I'm looking to carry both over into the New Year and make further improvements, but they've really made a difference for me mentally and physically. I've got my fair share of goals lied out for 2006, but from a personal perspective, 2005 wasn't bad at all.

Hit The Penguin With The Mace

It's all about hitting on a mine on the first bounce. Hit it and you're usually good to go. Like Edwin said, hitting the pair of mines is going to ensure lots of distance.

Finally hit 1020.5. I used to hit that on the regular, but my timing/luck isn't back to proper form.

Hit The Penguin With The Mace

Man, this brings back some memories. I was hooked on this for about a week back in early 2004. I thought it was stupid initially, but after a few games, I was hooked and so was anyone who I showed it to. Gets old quickly, though.

    Wrestlemania VII DVD Review.

I wasn't offended. I just figured it may help to get some opinions that could be used to improve your work in the future. Telling me I don't have to read them if I don't want to isn't something you want to say, either. Nobody has to read anything from anyone. If that's your response to anything other than praise, well, you'll find out in short order how unhappy you are when people stop reading something you put time into.

    Ebert's review of "Wolf Creek"

I was wondering when we'd get the obligitory "OMG HE GAVE VAN HELSING THREE STARS!" I hated the movie like most others, but I haven't become fixated on a questionable review from a catalog of critiques that dates back to the mid-1960s. It's still a clever ending, but I agree with everything he says about the rest of the movie. Its entire purpose is to make little sense so the finish can throw you through a loop. Usual Suspects is one of the most overrated movies of the '90s. It's an enjoyable movie, but you take away the twist ending and few people are still going to be talking about it today.

    Arrested Development

The show was a fresh concept the first couple of seasons, but the kids growing up and plots not changing all too much really hurt it. I dare say Dewey was adorable those first couple seasons, but then he started to grow up and he wasn't so cute anymore. It's odd that a show that shook things up as much as they did with their characters got as stale as quickly as it did.

It's not even so much time missed due to injury. It's that he's played hurt a lot. Obviously everyone is in the same boat after a certain point of the season, but he played a great deal of last season at well under 100 percent.

WCW 91 Figures that were never produced

Most of those figures were part of the UK-only line released in 1991. Although there were many exclusives contained, there were as many repaints of the figures we got here in 1990. Of the ones pictured, a couple are prototypes that never made it into production. However, there are a few floating out there. Probably the best wrestling-related site I've ever seen features a collection from an overseas couple that has to be seen to be believed. Their site, wrestlingcollection.com will make even non wrestling-toy fans do a double take. Here's an image containing the WCW prototypes. I've sold to them a couple of times on eBay and going by their extensive site, it's obvious their goal is to get any and all wrestling-related figures. Beautiful collection and setup.

    Arrested Development

It's one of those shows where it helps to be familiar with characters and storylines going into a viewing. Most of the episodes very much rely on the viewer having some knowledge of these things and without that, I can see how the appeal would be lost on some people. To me, the appeal is it's something different. There's not much left to do with a sitcom in this day and age, which is why a show that has such unique traits as AD stands out so much. The clever dialogue and way everything weaves together makes for some great thinking comedy.

For as much boasting about his wealth as Vince does, he's sure frugal when it comes to paying royalties.

    Wrestlemania VII DVD Review.

So I guess I have to be the one to chime in with less than positive sentiments? Okie. First off, credit's deserved just for tackling the whole review thing. It's not easy, so anyone who can take a stab at it is in line for some praise. My main beef is that this is such a tired exercise. Anyone who's read a wrestling review has probably read a Wrestlemania review. This was a played out concept almost six years ago when I first got on the 'net. Regardless of how creative anyone is, there's little to be said about these shows that hasn't already been said. Many times. Okay, here's a perfect example of why I think star ratings are worthless. They're subjective to the person writing the review, but there's not much here to prove why you gave it the amount of snowflakes you did. A sentence isn't really solid justification for a star rating. But don't worry, because you aren't alone. Most people who use the star rating system make the same error. The overall style of the review is a bit clunky, too. I don't know if this is soley meant for casual discussion about the event. If it's not, then this bad boy needs to cleaning up. Regardless, the format is too faithful to the typical reviews I've seen on shows like this. Nearing 2006, if you're going to be rehashing a repeatedly used concept like reviewing a Wrestlemania, it's going to need something different about it. The format, phrases and general opinions are nearly identical to everything I've read on the show. That's not to say Bravo/Tornado should be getting high praise, but if there's nothing new to say on the show that hasn't already been stated time and time again, what's the point? Nice stab, but I'd take on a lesser reviewed show.

It's funny that not too long after finally dumping Park's mistake of a contract, the Rangers take on a similar one. Granted Millwood's bound to turn out better results, but this is the same guy who was looking like a shell of his former self a little over a year ago.

    King Kong

Yeah, but that worked so well because she was still terrified of him in the original. He could've done it in this one, but it wouldn't be the same, since she didn't seem to object to him picking her up in the street.

    Ebert's review of "Wolf Creek"

What are you basing that on? From the sounds of the movie, that's exactly what he did. Guess ya missed the "based on actual events" line...that is assuming it actually IS based on actual events, and not just in the TCM way. Every movie is based on actual events in some capacity. And just because something claims to be heavily based on actual events doesn't mean it needs to be a movie. I could go eat a sandwich and then smack Czech upside his head with a Zappa album. It'd be unusual, but probably wouldn't make a very good movie.
