Media Play was originally the place to go for all things media (around here, anyway). Their prices and variety couldn't be beat, but then they introduced their Replay program and those traits disappeared. I've been waiting for this quite a while since it's a ghost town every time you go in there. As an aside, our Sam Goody and Suncoast has been gone for over a year.

A's acquire Milton Bradley. I sure hope the Cubs don't seriously chase after Jacques Jones now.

I don't want Wilson. Guy seems like he'd be trying to hit for the fences every at-bat. The Sosa deal was more about getting Sammy away from the team. In the grand scope of things, it didn't help their record, but it got him out of town.

Late as usual, my school finally got added to the Facebook. Certainly a lot less clunky than MySpace, but the non-visible profiles are a mixed bag. On the one hand they prevent potential stalkers from collection personal information about you, but on the other, it's annoying that you can't check out someone's profile from say, your graduating class, just to see what they're up to, but don't necessarily want to add them as a friend. It is addicting, though, I'll give it that much. It sure brings people out of the woodwork, too. Three days into it and I've already gotten friend requests from people I had completely forgotten about or barely interacted with in high school.

Looks like the Cards are gonna have to look elsewhere for that big starter if they had Matt Morris in mind for that role. He's saying he's either going to Cincy or San Fran. Morris post-May of last season in the Great American Ballpark could be hilarious.

I must need some sleep. I stared at Czech's blank post a good 30 seconds waiting for something to happen before I was like, "OH! I get jokes!" -
Must be a sign of that youth movement I heard about. Seriously, though, if Crosby's their CF for '06, you might as well have Bernie around.

So far, I'd have to say that the Cards, Mets, and Tigers have had the worst offseasons. - Cards: Their lack of making moves that address needs is what lands them here. I don't understand this sudden need for another big starter. Their problem in the postseason was offense, not pitching. By not addressing second or the outfield, they're putting a lot of weight on the shoulders of Carpenter and Pujols. - Mets: It just seems like the teams with the most money spend it the most asinine ways possible. I think closers are incredibly overrated and that teams are better off going with a decent closer and putting extra funds towards other aspects of the team. Delgado's another big name, but one guy's not going to make the difference. - Tigers: This is only because they signed Rogers and Jones. They were an awful team in 2003, but they have a nice crop of young talent. So why is it the last two seasons they sink money into cash pits like Ordonez, Percival, Rogers and Jones? It just seems like anytime there's talk of a team considering a FA's ridiculous contact demands, it's usually Detroit. Now, for the best. I'd go with Red Sox and Blue Jays are at the top. - Red Sox: They're doing all they can to build a good team with the thought in mind that Manny's out of there and Damon may be, too. The Beckett deal added an ace to a shaky starting rotation and the Loretta deal's one of the fleecings of the offseason. - Blue Jays: They overpaid Burnett, but Halladay/Burnett's a hell of a 1-2 punch and by adding Overbay, they've tacked on some reliable offensive power numbers.

Come on Rangers, be on crack. They already shot down the deal. The proposed trade's like asking your friend to trade you an Upper Deck Griffey Jr. rookie card for your Steve Buchelle with the missing corner. Worth a try, but not likely to get you anywhere.
-
Cubs must think the Rangers are on crack. They offered up Patterson for Mench.

Two minor leaguers, actually. Of course, they have to eat about half of his contract. It's being reported that the White Sox have dumped Marte on the Pirates for Rob Mackowiak. Considering Marte's contract and unreliability last year, this is a nice move for the White Sox.
-
Yeah, but young and up and coming are two things that don't bode well for a player on the North side of Chicago.
-
Isn't Ronny Cedeno still with the club? Maybe the Cubbies are just going to give him the nod at shortstop and split time with Perez. Neifi a platoon player? Give me some of your drugs!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. How in the world did I (or any other Cubs fan) miss this one: Dusty's pillow shall be soaked with tears tonight.
-
Wow, maybe the Cards should have pursued Womack. I certainly hope they don't expect Miles to be their second baseman. Wait, yes I do.
-
That Soriano deal is certainly an upgrade for the Rangers over the deal that had him going for a reliever.
-
They may wanna pursue Womack if that's true.
-
They are talking about Brett Boone. That would be retarded, but it's being discussed. I'd just go with Luna, and call it a day. We still need corner outfielders and another starter. Where'd you hear this?
-
Speaking of Bradley, I wouldn't mind the Cubs trading for him as crazy as that sounds. He a potential PR nightmare, but after a season of Patterson, Hollandsworth, and Lawton, I'd love to see them have something of a formidable outfield.
-
Mark Grudzielanuk is done in St. Louis. Any guesses as to who they bring in to replace him? Tony Womack, anyone?
-
So the Tigers are going to continue their new tradition of overpaying for a vet that may blow up in their face.
-
Danny Kolb's going back to the Brewers.
-
I can't imagine the feeling of being traded to the Royals. I would think it's the sports equvilalent to finding out you have cancer.
-
Seems like maybe we gave up a bit much if you want to look at things long-term, since I don't see Pierre as anything more than a one-year fill-in. Still, it didn't seem like Mitre's had a good number of chances to make the leap from good AAA pitcher to good MLB pitcher and it never really happened. One wonders what becomes of Korey now.

I can't believe for once the Pirates are the ones doing the fleecing.
