Sean Casey could be on his way to Pittsburgh. It's odd since he's like God in Cincy.
-
So it basically wound up being Steve Kline for Jerome Williams and Aardsma.

LaTroy Hawkins is apparently about to become a resident of Shea.

Cubs don't need to be a mid-market team. The Trib Co. just thinks they invested enough last season. Word on the streets is that the Cards are interested in Jacque Jones. Please let it happen.
-
I wouldn't mind the Kearns deal since he's been ridiculous at Wrigley in his career. Of course, he gets hurt a lot, so there's some reason for concern there. And as maddening as Williams could be last season, I would still take him over Rusch, who'd probably get the fifth spot in the rotation if Williams got dealt.

You'd still be ripping off someone's work if you didn't cite sources.

Blue Jays are reportedly close to overpaying for Burnett since the Cards won't guarantee him a fifth year.
-
So now I guess A.J. Burnett now has caught the eye of the Cubs. As much trouble as they've had with their rotation in the last two years, I sure hope they don't empty the bank account on him. Their starting rotation even without Wood is better than most. Just because they lost out of Furcal doesn't mean they have to give up on the offense all together. Let's not forget what the projected outfield looks like.
-
Man. Can't say I blame the Cubs for not trying to match such a ridiculous offer, but considering that Furcal was really the last key offensive player on the market, they're in some trouble. Not getting Giles was fine if they got Furcal. They didn't. I agree they need to re-sign Nomar for at least a year, because fuck Neifi starting. It's only December, but the only way they're really gonna improve the offense now is through a trade.

This one could turn out to be better than their 20 percent off sale to some. Choose from 150 box sets on the list and get one free for every one that you buy. This works out to be a great deal for people who want the complete or near complete runs for Married with Children, Seinfeld, King of Queens, Good Times, Sanford and Son, All in the Family and others. All the Woody Allen sets work out to a nice deal, too. I'm gonna try to keep the damage limited and mostly use this sale for gifts.

He also walked a ridiculous amount when he got to the majors. I remember him being the guy Dusty would bring in if the game was close and wanted to get fans all nervous by having the other team load the bases via the walk.

It's time for today's Bobby Abreu trade rumor. Rotoworld is reporting that the Red Sox and Phillies are discussing a Manny for Bobby trade.

6' 175 lbs. I think. I haven't weighed myself in months.

Completed auction search on eBay.

I guess John Mabry has accepted a one-year contract from the Cubs. If this means he'll be in a bench role, that's fine, but kill me now if he's expected to be our rightfielder.

whats the riskiest thing you've ever done?

You know those "Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law" tags? Well... -
Now that is cool. Even if they are not in great shape they would be an awesome to read and own. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, it's neat to hold something that historic in your hands and know it's the real deal. Actually, I'm in the process with parting with almost all of my comics (around 2,000). I'll hang on to the ones with some significant personal meaning, but I'm not able to justify the entire closet the boxes take up anymore. 'Tis will be a sombering day when it all goes down. I'll take some group pics of the primo books and the entire collection before I start selling them off.

I've got quite a few, although most aren't in the best of shape. I've got the first issue of Avengers and Daredevil, as well as most of the old FF and Spidey books, including ones like the first appearance of Kingpin and Silver Surfer.

Wait, are they raising prices again? Having only been there once in 2003 and once last year, I only have the vast difference in pricing between the two. Of course, the seats in 2003 were awful (i.e. a perfect view of Waveland), but I know they've shot up since 2003.

Most of the things I want are affordable enough for me to just pick up on my own. In recent years, my lists have become relatively thin. Just getting out of the whole "ooo I get lots of stuff" attitude that I used to have. Now, I just appreciate what I get and hope that I get the handful of things I really want. This year, my list consists mostly of film-related books. Outside of that, I asked for some cash to go buy clothes (since my mom has this thing about buying any shirt that has an odd material), a travel kit since I go out of town on the regular, the Complete Calvin & Hobbes, and some speakers for the computer. Toyed with asking for Tivo or XM radio, but those are perks I'll probably get on my own sometime this year.

I remember the Cubs putting tickets on sale at the tail-end of February. Oh, the insanity.
-
Might just go to Saturday night. And of course, I meant CDs in the title.
-
Coinciding with the big shopping weekend, BB has a ton of $4.99 CDs available. Here's an online list. I'm not sure if you can do in-store pickup to avoid shipping charges. Regardless, some nice (affordable) titles in there.

Wow. I was a fan in their earlier days, but thanks to their recent works, I had lost interest. They really fell apart in that last year. What's with everyone dying today?

What a lot of people fail to remember is that Clement was amazing in 2004, but thanks to poor run support (usually the result of going up against the opposing team's number one guy), his W/L rate was poor. And it would the Cubs are trying to take the White Sox approach and build a strong pen, but their offensive issues are what need to be addressed, since for the most part, their pitching was stellar in 2005.
