It's funny since I recall the "WTF?" reaction most of us had when it was announced that the Sox had signed Dye during the offseason. Dude sounds bored out of his mind, though.

I think Boston winning it last year softened the blow of having another "cursed" team I don't care for win it all. The last out had me feeling apathetic. Maybe I came to my senses and realized I was pulling so hard for the Astros. Congrats Sox. You earned it. So did the true fans. Now someone go pull Matt Young out of his sweaty, drunken, multi-orgasm love-fest with Maria Pena and tell him the Sox finally did it!

That poor chair died for nothing. Konerko will probably get serious consideration. I consider his grandslam to be the real turning point of the series. Can you imagine the wasteland the MLB boards are gonna be? Not that they aren't to begin with, but most of the White Sox fanbase seems to be more concerned about rubbing it in the faces of Cubs fans than actually celebrating the championship.

I can only imagine the carnage that will take place on the south side of Chicago in 20 minutes.

An Astros win would require them to score at least one run, something that at this point, doesn't look like will ever happen again.

I can't wait for this series to be over. I'm so utterly bored watching the Astros "hit" that I'm contemplating cleaning while they're up.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the dry spells for the Cubs and the Red Sox were always given the most attention, so it doesn't seem so unreal that the White Sox are going to be winning their first title in nearly nine decades. It sinks in a bit when they run off the stats, but to me, when I thought of hard-luck teams, the Cubs and Red Sox always came to mind. Not so much for the White Sox. I'll say this. My beef isn't necessarily with the White Sox. The laughing stock that is their announcing duo and their passive fans that exist outside the minute, true fanbase, are what bother me. Suddenly we have all these people coming out of the woodwork, "Hey, I love the White Stox or whatever!" Obviously a winning team and championship is going to make a lot of small-minded people jump on board, but to see so many people (not really just here) hop on the bandwagon because the Sox are on fire, is annoying.

I think most people are thinking along the lines that we're seeing a one-shot deal with this team and not the beginning of a dynasty. They've got a great one-two punch, but unless the re-sign Paul Konerko, I'm not confident that they can get past the Indians beginning in 2006. I will come clean and say that I've gone from despising Ozzie to at least having some respect for him. He's become a player's manager, but not in the Dusty Baker sense. Ozzie's tough on his guys when need be, but he's also there to reassure them before they lose too much confidence (him seeking Jenks after Podsednik's walkoff the other night comes to mind).

Oh stop being so melodramatic. The Cardinals got swept last year too, it happens to the best of them. You haven't even been swepped yet. I'm not saying Houston is coming back but one or 2 wins and all of a sudden it could be a respectable 6 game series. Your team went to the Series for the first time ever, be happy with that accomplishment and at least don't give up until it's completely over. Astros fans must feel like, uh, Cubs fans right now. I'd almost rather have taken the Cubs' fate over the Astros. Imagine rolling on to the WS, only to get completely outmatched. They should just concede so we all have the rest of the week opened up.

At this point, I'm tempted to say the Astros don't even deserve to win this. They have one hit since the fourth. Ten walks, yeah, but this team is atrocious when it comes to getting runners in. Of course, I don't wanna see the Sox win, but jeez, it's clear that the Astros are only winning via the walkoff homer.
