I'm sure that won't stir up any talk about his rather large frame.

Go see Cosby instead. Pretty Ricky is garbage.

Good use of examples. *waits for Van Helsing response*

I'd have a hard time believing the Yankees would have as many fans if they weren't in the postseason every year.

This team isn't the Astros of 2004. They made fairly quick work of Atlanta, but all things considered, they were one of the weaker playoff teams. I don't expect this to go more than six games.

Waiting looks like one of those flicks that could be funny if it didn't rely so much on the "bodily fluids = funny" formula. Correct me if I'm wrong, for those who have seen it. There's plenty of people in it I like, but half of the trailer seemed to be doing something disgusting for laughs, which usually misses with me.

Farns is a classic case of a guy having all the tools and little of the execution. People have been waiting for him to put it all together for years and he just doesn't seem like he's going to. Sure, he'll do fine in a pitcher's park, but few don't. Cabbage speaks the truth on his trials and tribulations with the Cubs. Those games he spoke of were damning to the team, as both came after the Cubs had held significant leads. The second of those games more or less put the Cubs out of the Central race, too. There were also countless times where he'd come in just to do mop-up duty and still get shelled. Guy's just one of those dude who couldn't put it all together, depsite having the talent to do so. Cubs seem to have a lot of those.

That reminds me of those emails I'd get occassionally where one of my Nigerian relatives had passed away, left me his fortune, and all I had to do to collect on it was...

Too many people have this mindset about reviewers, as if they hate anything mainstream and only latch on to a handful of indy flicks that are impossible to understand. All too often, it seems like people avoid even reading reviews because they have the "I'll decide if it's good or not for myself" state of mind. Nothing wrong with forming your own opinion, but avoiding reviews is a bit silly. I check reviews (primarily Ebert) on the regular. Not because I can't form my own opinions, but rather, they help find the diamonds in the rough. With the sheer quantity of films being released every year, it's easy to miss the less promoted ones. Checking out the reviews can alert you to these films and at least pique your interest on other ones you may have not considered checking out before. Citing Ebert has become something of a pattern for me. Not because I can't form my own opinion. The guy just knows what he's talking about. Whether he likes it or not, he's always there with the reasons he came to that conclusion. Reading reviews and/or sharing similar opinions with reviewers doesn't make you some mindless drone. Just more informed. At least in regards to the former, anyway.

Watching any more baseball today would be like watching The Land Before Time VI right after seeing Citizen Kane.

I want the last six hours of my life back.

I jinxed it, man. I was on the phone with the woman and said, "whoever wins it is going to be some no-namer." Two pitches later, one's in the Crawford Boxes. I can't help but think back to the eighth where I thought I'd like to see Farns tagged for a couple runs, never thinking he'd cough up the lead entirely. Dammit.

Sixteen innings back in 1986. Al, summarize that game.

It applies, though. We've seen what can happen when Furcal actually gets on base.
-
Once they loaded them up, I didn't like their chances. I was thinking two, but a K and a grounder will have the same effect.

Not like he TRIED to kick it.

Braves really have no excuse not to plate at least one here.

A good pitcher who's thrown around 60 pitches in the last two days.

Looks like Clemens may make an appearance if this game goes long enough.

So he's a pedophile, murderer, AND a poor speller. -
Way too many close ones in that inning. That ball missed being a homer by inches and while it was heading up there, my heart sank while thinking "no way, no way." I hate those stupid Crawford Boxes.

Funny how everything was pointing towards a Game 5, but now, there may not even have to be a chance to decide if Smoltz goes in that game or not. Gotta figure it's Lidge for at least two and with the bottom of the Braves order due up and the Braves' lousy bullpen, it may be over.

"Breaking news" out of New York: Washburn will not start due to a throat infection. Instead, Lackey takes the mound. I tend to think this bodes well for the Angels.

Braves fans, I'd like to introduce you to the real Kyle Farnsworth.
