    This Week in Baseball

JT Snow just split his chin open on one of the cameras by the dugout trying to make a catch. PS I hate the Padres.

You know, I hate to keep bringing it up, but my fantasy team can't catch a break. Both Myers and Peavy are excellent tonight and their bullpen blows it for them.

So not only can Myers not win it (bad for my fantasy team), but Beltran doesn't get any RBIs out of being involved in the play that tied the game (also bad for my fantasy team). And now it gets worse.

And Giambi makes it 6-0. But it took them 3 2/3 innings to score the runs, so it'll still be like a loss. Or something.

But they're the Yankees! They're supposed to plate every runner who gets into scoring position!

You're funny. It won't happen, but you're funny. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, at least they didn't keep us in suspense as to whether you'd be right or not.

    Don Adams has died.

82?! Man, I didn't think he was that old. I loved Get Smart as a kid, even though I was the only one in the household to feel that way. Didn't like Inspector Gadget too long; a bit too trite and repetitive for me.

Any words yet as to what's on the bonus disc from FYE?

No doubt there's a huge draw between the Yanks and Red Sox, but with the promotion and publicity they get everytime they lock up, what do you expect? When they play, you'd swear it was a once-in-a-lifetime happening. They don't need to promote other series as intensely, but like Al said, some effort to make the people care would've helped.

I'm probably jinxing it, but Corey Patterson may have just saved the game. Check out the highlights for his Mays-like snowcone catch with a runner on first.

    Coheed & Cambria

Yeah, I recall him being the one that seemed more destined for collegiate greatness than Woodley, but things have a funny way of turning out.

Cubs take the lead again and draw three straight walks. That last part would be great news if it didn't mean the leadoff hitter, the offensive juggarnaut that is Jose Macias, came to the plate. And naturally, he weakly grounds out. Watch this come back to bite them in the ass.

Astros take the lead after Williams issues his SIXTH walk of the game, Palmeiro triples and Tavares flies out.

Bottom 6TH B:1 S:3 O:1 Jerome Williams strikes out swinging, catcher Brad Ausmus to first baseman Mike Lamb. Bottom 6TH B:0 S:0 O:2 Jose Macias flies out to center fielder Willy Taveras. Bottom 6TH B:1 S:0 O:3 Neifi Perez grounds out, third baseman Morgan Ensberg to first baseman Mike Lamb. Why are those two in the one-two spot, again? Cubs are doing their best to get the Astros into the playoffs. Pettitte's still down 1-0, but he's thrown 30 fewer pitches than Williams through six.

... What a way to lose a game.

Indians got out of a bases loaded, nobody out situation in the eighth, but they're down to their final hacks. If they go down and the White Sox win, it's going to make things quite difficult on the Tribe in the Central. Cubs are really milking the Lee homer, too. They're up 1-0, have been in trouble several times and aren't waiting around for anything against Pettitte, who has just 35 pitches in four innings. I'd still love to hear Dusty's explanation for having Macias leading off.

Jerome Williams loaded the bases with no outs in the second, but got two strikeouts and a lineout to preserve a Cubs lead. He went 3-1 on Pettitte, but came back for the K. Lee also homered in the first, but with that potent Macias/Perez thing at the top of the order, naturally it was a solo shot.

    Coheed & Cambria

I went to Arthur Hill, but I went to Middle School with Lamar. Me and him were actually pretty good friends until he went to Saginaw High and became Mr. Superstar. I was also pretty good friends with collegiate burnout Jerome Jackson.

    Your Ring-tone

I, too, have the Super Mario Bros. theme as my basic ringtone. I've got "Knuck If You Buck" for the woman, for some reason; "Stomp" for one friend and "Mighty D-Block" for another. Everyone else just gets whatever my basic ringtone of the time happens to be (in this case, Super Mario Bros.). Most rock tunes don't translate well to the ringtone world, otherwise I'd have a few of them on there.

Wow, for the second night in a row, Brewers beat up on an ace of the Cards. Mudler can't get out of the second and is charged with seven earned.

Cubs now trail by four and it's late, so hopefully Philly can pick up the slack and stay just a game back.

They should've called for the rain delay earlier, but instead, it takes Corey Patterson slipping on the warning track to allow another run and Zambrano unable to grip the ball for the delay to finally be called.

TheDon is quickly becoming more annoying than AS ever was. And Phillies fans, I hope your team wins tonight, because Dusty's lineup doesn't exactly strike fear into the hearts of the opposition. With Walker out, Macias is in (and leading off, go figure). Plus you've got Perez and Patterson in there. For some reason, Murton continues to bat seventh, despite Macias/Perez being one of the worst one-two punches I've seen in recent history at the top of the lineup.

If that's the case, the Braves are your team.
