The Nats aren't exactly an offensive juggernaut.

Yanks sure look like a postseason team to me.

    The Complete Calvin & Hobbes

Was it the one where they're going around with their sleds talking about exploring? I thought that was the last one, but I heard of another that sounded more like a final strip.

Man, that's the first time I've seen someone score from second on a bunt without an error being involved.

    Super busy day from Apple...

I was about to plunk down the cash to get the 20GB from Amazon, but remembering that I could get a student discount from the Apple Store, I ordered from them and decided to upgrade to the 60GB. It'd take forever to fill, but I'd rather not cap myself on how much content I can put on there.

Whew, Cubs win a close one. Runner was on third with two outs in the bottom of the ninth in a 2-1 game and Nunez gets called out on strikes with Pujols on deck.

Why? Do you know how close he came to coming in with the bases loaded and no outs and making it out of there with no damage? Looper's the one that left zero room for error. Looked like they were going to get out of it for a moment, but those are the Mets for ya.

It probably shouldn't surprise me that as soon as the Mets get Looper off the hook, he puts them right back in trouble. Cubs and Cards in a close one in their final meeting at Busch. Look for the Edmonds web gem later tonight. Jose Macias finally makes great contact and Edmonds just makes him another notch on the old belt.

    Super busy day from Apple...

Most, if not all of the iPods are on sale over at Amazon. I'll probably order a 20GB Photo iPod before the night's over. They're going for around $260.

McClendon was given nothing to work with. No superstars, no payroll, and few fully-developed, talented big leaguers. Seemed like everytime a Pirate would be coming into his own, he'd be shipped off to a contender. Had the Pirates had the financial means, they could very well be a contender right now. Funny how that whole need for a new ballpark to contend thing didn't pan out.

That sure fell apart quickly for the Twins. One out away from an amazing comeback win, and then just as quickly, they're back down three.

    Hurricane Katrina

Because events like this are an exception. Yeah, they eventually derail into Round 382 of the Conservative vs. Liberal dick-waving contest, but rare events like this actually pique my interest. I'm not sure why you picked that quote as the basis for your response, bob, since it was more me saying how lame and unoriginal it is for someone to poke fun at somebody's weight or appearance, when neither is an issue. I should also take this time to note that I unfortunately took a look at The Pit's Katrina thread, which degenerated into *gasp* complaining about what TSM was talking about. Anyway, some things that Czech said in there bother me. First off, he (badly) paraphrased an AIM conversation we had about music. I'm taking his point was that I viewed music by color and such, but like most things, that's taken out of context. The actual AIM conversation had me classifying the whiney emo music as "white" music. The word "Radiohead" is nowhere near that chunk of the conversation. Also, I resent NMB being labeled as collectively liking Kanye West and porn. It was probably a (pretty bad) joke, but point is, there's no real love for West and the whole porn schtick is sooooooooo played. We don't even HAVE a porn folder, nor do discussions within the porn realm ever appear on the board. So how all of the board members can be known for loving porn, is beyond me. I don't think Czech's a racist, but I do believe it's out of touch with the culture. Hey, I'm white and not trying to act like I live in that environment, but thanks to being immersed in the atmosphere throughout high school, I'd like to think I've got a better understanding of their values, beliefs, and bonds. If I had to take a shot in the dark, I'd say that Czech's never really had to be in such surroundings. It's hard to "get" something you don't experience first-hand. At any rate, carry on.

Yup, nothing beats the counter-argument centered around the theme "YOU'RE FAT! HAHAHA!!! YOU LIKE FOOD AND LOTS OF IT!".

Could just be me, but it seems with each one of your posts in this thread, you're digging yourself in deeper.

    Hurricane Katrina

You just described the entire folder. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And thus, political "debating" is stupid. Regardless of what people say, their political alliances always bleed through into the discussion, which is bound to skew their views. How many political discussions do you see with someone going, "Oh my god, you're right! I was way off."?

    Hurricane Katrina

You used that joke two weeks ago and it wasn't that funny then. Once again, just by going through this thread, you can tell who's alligned with which political party. Liberals seem to understand where he's coming from. Conservatives just want the big, bad, black rapper guy to shut up. I don't care what you say, there shouldn't be people still stuck there almost a week later. Some of you guys just can't wait to get in line and take shots at rappers. They're all interchangable, though, right? "What's Kanye West getting all mad about? He probably raps about killing 'niggas' and riding on 24s, while doing fat-ass bitches. He must just be mad because he didn't get to shoot them himself."

Wow, what looked to be strike three on Sheffield is called ball four (despite the ump making the motions that indicate strikeout) and the Yanks take advantage and take on five big runs.

    Shit-storm coming for Kanye?

Yeah, no precedent for a foul-mouthed rapper. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He doesn't ever swear during interviews. Jesus, he barely swears in his songs. I know you wanna defend your boy W here, but Kanye doesn't fit the gangsta rapper mold AT ALL. I think Incandenza's more gangsta than Kanye is.

    Shit-storm coming for Kanye?

Is anyone else as amused by the following snippet as me? How typical they were only looking out for the big, bad rapper guy to drop some profanity. Kanye's not even the type to swear casually outside of his music. I can only imagine what the instructions were to the person in charge beforehand... "I think the negro is going to curse, so keep an ear out for that!"

A couple years ago, I wouldn't have given it a second look, but after taken early western civ. a while back, I'm curious as to how accurate it is.

And Andruw Jones saves the day with his 44th homer. Great comeback by the Nats, but it's tough to overlook the six men they left on base during the seventh and eighth innings.

    This week in baseball 8/29 - 9/5

Wow, when did the Nats get offense? It was 7-1 Braves early, but thanks to poor bullpen pitching by the Braves and a key Vinny Castilla single, it's knotted up at 7. I do like how they brought in Kolb to stop the bleeding. He promptly gives up the tying run and walks the bases loaded again. Awesome.
