    This Week in Baseball

Well, that's the match-up I would prefer, too. If the White Sox are as amazing as their anncouncers remind us every telecast, then they should be able to beat the A's. They're a great team, there's no more denying it. But I would be interested to see how they stack up against the A's in the postseason.

Felipe Alou sure likes to use his relievers for one batter, doesn't he?

Kerry Wood and his mistress, the 15-day DL, have been reunited.

You know the trade market for 3rd basemen is shallow when Joe Randa's a hot commodity.

Look for a dude in a blue Cubs throwback jersey in the rightfield stands tonight at the Reds/Cubs game. That'll be me. Gonna catch the last two games of the series; hopefully the keep up what they've been doing the last two nights.

Like I said, I hope this isn't the big trade everyone was waiting for the Cubs to make. It doesn't make much sense, either, since they've brought up Murton, who has been doing a nice job in left. Dubois never got a chance with the Cubs, so I guess I'd rather see him with a team where he'll get one. Hopefully Gerut's just trade bait for another team, although realistically, Dubois was probably better trade bait, so Hendry could just be a dumbass.

I, uh, certainly hope this isn't the big move everyone was expecting Hendry to make.

    This Week(end) in Baseball

That's the game I'm getting. Of course, I'm in Ohio right now, so it makes sense. But with Hafner leaving the game in the first, I think I'd actually prefer Sox/Yanks right now. Fish, you overestimate the mass appeal of Sox/Yanks. Fans get real into the games, but those who have no bias towards either team aren't like that. And here's a question for Yankees' fans: why is anyone acting like getting Al Leiter is a good thing at this point? There is a reason why he was DFA. He's just gonna be another guy who goes four or five innings, walks too many batters, gives up too many hits, and forces the pen to be put into action far too early.

    It's that time again

Whitlock was funny during last summer's Who's Number 1? specials on ESPN. "You take away a kid's McDonalds and of course he's going to become a criminal!" But yeah, he's terrible on PTI. In fact, I think everyone but Wilbon and Tony are lousy on the show. I don't mind Smith and Marriotti on ATH, but for some reason, everyone but the actual hosts seem wooden and unnatural on the show.

    All-Star Game Tonight

I'm not saying I didn't buy into stuff like his speech. I'm aware he's a genuine good guy. But his double-takes towards the car when they brought it to his attention didn't seem sincere. Just seemed like he was trying to act surprised.

Like Miguel needs a new car. Nice acting by the way.

    All-Star Game Tonight

My thoughts exactly. Especially with no one on. Not like Torre wanted Mo to even be in there. Oh well. Tex definitely gets MVP since his two-run shot was the difference in the end.

Too bad he got cut off after about 15 seconds. Why have him on there if you're gonna barely let him speak?

What did Buck say when the Giants clinched?

    Homerun derby tonight

Yeah. The novelty is long gone by time the second round rolls around. And damn, Damon sounds like such a braindead jackass when he talks.

He was unbiased during the WS. I gave him credit then and I still do. But his infatuation with them during the Cardinal broadcasts and anytime they are brought up during the FOX games, it's nauseating.

    Homerun derby tonight

This is one of the downsides of the derby. Usually one or two guys who can't get a homer. Can't help but feel bad for them. It's all fun, but it can't feel to great to go up there on a grand stage and not hit a single ball out.

    Homerun derby tonight

Abreu proves me wrong. Hopefully more will give him the recognition he deserves. I feel bad for Jason Bay now.

    Homerun derby tonight

This thing seems to hold less appeal each year. I think it's because after a while, you've seen just about all you can and nothing is all that exciting anymore.

Not really. Buck's biased towards the Cards, even during games where he's supposed to be impartial, is annoying.

Well at least Joe Buck will finally shut the fuck up about why Carpenter should start the game.

    All-Star Selections

I wonder who gets the start, though, Ramirez or Ensberg. I think it's LaRussa's decision, but since Ramirez was second in voting, I think he should get the nod. No bias or anything.

That'll happen when 22 of that 80 million goes to said player.

Really? I thought it was a fun game, but probably because I was just a casual viewer. It pains me to see the White Sox continue to be so good, even when they lose. Their announcers sure are bitter when things don't go their way, though. Awesome play by Chavez to end the game, though. Edit: Never mind, I misread it as you saying it was one of the worst games. I didn't catch most of the early going, just everything from the 7th on.

    Just like two years ago....

That's why Jay Mariotti refers to him as the Reverand Johnnie B. Supposedly, it got to Baker and requested that he cease doing that.
