I didn't know the Yankees were a single person.

For what it's worth, I think Bartosh has given up at least one homer his last few appearances. It was impressive, but c'mon, the Devil Rays are hardly a major league team. It was an impressive feat, but they were right back to sucking ass the next day. And didn't they proceed to go on a terrible losing streak shortly after that AL West bend came to a close? You guys may think people unfairly crap on the Yankees and their accomplishments, but for as much money as this team makes and as good as they're supposed to be (going by pre-season analysists), you'll have to excuse those of us who don't drop their jaws in amazement when these things happen now and again.
-
I think that's all in your head. You Yankee fans are way too defensive anytime someone questions them. They're on a hot streak right now and with a payroll like that, they should be. Sorry if not everyone is as amazed by getting homers of Jose Mesa and Joe Borowski as you guys are.

Uh, yeah he can be. One season of excelling in an area that doesn't even necessarily constitute being good doesn't mean he's not bad. He's been okay at best his entire career. He's been awful the last two seasons. Who gives a shit if he had 33 saves one season? Danny Graves had 41 last season. Does that mean he wasn't garbage? What's Bonds have to do with this? Don't act like the media hasn't been on Jeter's jock for years almost in the same fashion as Bonds.

Perhaps because it was off JOE BOROWSKI and it was hit by the guy who supposedly the second coming Christ.
-
My god, Buck and McCarver need to get off Jeter's dick. It was off JOE BOROWSKI for christ's sake.

Douche Mark Buehrle makes ridiculous accusations

I believe it was in a paper this morning, but he didn't name names. He only alluded to it being a Cubs pitcher. -
The One and Only Batman Begins thread

I said the exact same thing, Josh. Ripped from my post at NMB... - Awesome casting. No one seemed out of place and everyone's roles fit like a glove. Gary Oldman was Gordon. The character of Alfred was full of dry wit and made for many memorable scenes. And of course, Bale does an admirable job as Bruce Wayne and Batman. - The Batmobile. It works. Never mind it's a tank. That allows the scenes involving it to happen. Were it a car, it wouldn't at all be realistic. Things are done with this bad boy that couldn't be done otherwise. Gripes about it need to end. - Bale's Batman. I love the different voices for Wayne and Batman. Any actor that's tackled the dual role in the past has made slight modifications to the voice, but here, they're two distinct entities. - The villains. There have been complaints about the lack of a big villain. The two (perhaps three) selected here are marvelous and great choices to whet the appetites of the audience for what will hopefully become a long-lasting franchise. - The look is, as Ebert noted, lacking of gloss. Gotham remains a visual treat, but the gloom that we're always told that resides over the city is present. A gritty look is present and most elements have an unrefined look to them. But believe the hype. This one's for Batman purists and it doesn't disappoint. The large crowd at the theater gave me some hope that this thing can turn a few bucks. Oh, and the final scene had me instantly wanting the sequel. I won't spoil it, but what we see had me going, "Oh shit! Bring on the next one!" -
The makers of Sno-Balls are idiots if they don't incorporate this into a new ad campaign. Sno-Balls...so good you'll go to jail for one!

Womack is apparently unhappy about not getting to play second base, even when Cano is on the bench.
-
Hell of a bullpen the Yankees have.
-
No kidding. Then again, I take into consideration that they faced the heart of the Red Sox lineup. Great win, though, and of course, I'm gonna be greedy and hope for the sweep tomorrow.
-
WWE has no problems reusing the same matches for DVD releases. I doubt they'd hold back a match for a boxset that people have been wanting for two or three years.

I was at the Cubs/Sox game today and man, what a great experience. The atmosphere was amazing because of the blend of Sox and Cubs fans. By the sixth or seventh inning, Red Sox fans had nothing more to do than get wasted. But getting to see so many historical things AND Maddux go yard was indescribable.

Disc One - Greg Valentine vs. Roddy Piper (Starrcade '83) - Sgt. Slaughter vs. Iron Sheik (MSG 5/21/84) - Greg Valentine vs. Tito Santana (IC Lumberjack Match/MSG 3/17/85) - Junkyard Dog vs. Randy Savage (Wrestling Classic Finals) - Ultimate Warrior vs. Bobby Heenan (Wrestlefest '88 Weasel Suit Match) Disc Two - Dusty Rhodes vs. Ric Flair (Starrcade '84) - Ole & Arn Anderson vs. Wahoo McDaniel & Billy Jack Haynes (Starrcade '85) - Jerry Lawler vs. Kerry Von Erich (AWA Superclash 12/13/88) - Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair (Chi-Town Rumble) - Ric Flair vs. Jay Youngblood (Mid-Atlantic 2/3/82) Disc Three - Jimmy Snuka vs. Bob Backlund (MSG 5/19/80) - Iron Sheik vs. Bob Backlund (12/26/83) - Paul Orndorff vs. Salvatore Bellomo (1/23/84) - Hulk Hogan vs. Iron Sheik (1/23/84) - Bob Orton vs. Jimmy Snuka (2/18/85) - Roddy Piper vs. Hulk Hogan (War to Settle the Score) Those are just the matches. I'm not sure how long the rest runs, but each profile is given a fair chunk of time dedicated towards their contributions in the '80s. According to the box, everything clocks in at a grand total of eight and a half hours.

Urbina and Ramon Martinez to the Phillies for Palanco. I would've figured he'd go to a contending team.

I disagree. Dames was one of the most thorough and descriptive reviewers I've ever read. If I missed a RAW, or TNA show, his reviews called out each and every move and hold. He wasnt like most reviewers who lazily write-out things like "wrestler A hits a slam on wrestler B and theres the finish", or "wrestler A counters a hold from wrestler B, drops him with a takedown for the pin". I also got a match background before reading the review, so if I didnt know why 2 wrestlers were in the ring, I was then informed. I wish to see him return to reviews one of these days. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just because his diatrabes were 4,000 words each doesn't make them good. I don't need to read play-by-play when I'm reading a wrestling review. What I'd like to see is a summary of the key points of a match; what worked and what didn't; why such and such was necessary and why this or that wasn't. I never got that from Dames' work. PBP is okay for some, I guess, but I'm not of the mind that a shit load of words = great review.

They've got it at my Wal-Mart for $22. Great-looking set.
-
And in retrospect, they sure made the right move. One's no longer with the club and the other, unfortunately, is.
-
Derrek Lee another 3-for-3 with a pair of walks in a 5-0 game that sees Glendon Rusch go the distance. Not sure if it can last, but it's fun to see the Cubs have just been on this past week. Their seven-game winning streak is already longer than any one they had last year.
-
That makes no sense. Intentionally walk Ortiz to get to Manny Ramirez? If this is three weeks ago, MAYBE, but when you've got the most dominant left-handed closer in the game against a guy who has traditionally struggled against lefties, you take your chances with him and don't set-up a lefty/righty match-up with one of the premiere hitters in the game; a hitter who has been on a tear the last week.

Cubs' pitching comes together to throw a 10-inning one-hitter in a exciting 2-1 win over the Dodgers. Penny and Zambrano both went eight, but ultimately, it was up to the pens. Neifi Perez of all people drove in the winning run. The bottom of the 10th wasn't without drama, though, as Dempster smashed Antonio Perez in the head on the payoff pitch. Nervewrecking, but five in a row for the Cubs, and another save not blown by Dempster.

But wait, I thought the Yankees were OMG BACKORZ~!!!

You were the kind who went to all the Friday night football games in high school, despite not liking football, weren't you?

I like how they list his eye color. Dunno 'bout you, but I'd noticed that his eyes are bulging out of their fucking sockets before I noticed that they're blue.
