And right on cue, Latroy gives up a solo homer and we're tied. This closer situation needs to be fixed. Hawkins can't get it done with a lead of only one. Hope Dusty's happy that he brought in a guy who was batting .071 for a guy hitting .333.

Man, you've gotta be kidding me. Cubs take the lead on a Patterson homer; Lee doubles, Aramis flies out and what does Dusty do? Pinch hits Macias for Dubois, just because he can bat left-handed. Of course, the Bucs make a pitching change and bring in a lefty. Christ, that fucker is stupid.

Ugh. Maddux was rolling along and was through 6 2/3 innings in under 70 pitches. A couple of cheapie hits, pass ball, stolen base and a double ties it at two. All of this with two outs. The worst part is it could be 3-2, but Lee was thrown out trying to steal in the inning before, which was followed by Aramis drawing a walk and Dubois doubling.

Homeplate ump has a huge strikezone in Chicago today because of this crazy weather.

I wouldn't have expected anything but that from a Jaret Wright who wasn't pitching in Atlanta.

It's the bottom of the third, but it looks like it's gonna be one of those days.

I'm sorry, but this is hilarious. I think everyone whose last name isn't Steinbrenner knew that the Wright signing was a terrible one.

I take it back, Mike.

It's the third inning! What are you a Cubs fan?

Remember, a lot of people thought the same about him last season until he got it going in July. He's definitely at the end of his rope, but he's not yet an automatic out.

The Anthology was also supposed to include a sixth disc which featured Sly's A&E Bio special. -
Sounds like K-Rod blew his first save of the year. Two singles to lead off the inning, followed by two K's and wild pitch. I'm not getting the game and Gameday is mucho slow, but looking at the Angels' board, it's clear it's at least a tied game right now. At least something good happened for me fantasy baseball-wise today.

It's not October.

Eduardo Perez just hit the absolute BEJESUS out of the first pitch from Alan Embree to win the game after the Sox come back to tie it 4-4. Absolutely ridiculous shot that has to be seen to be believed.

On days like this, the Yankees' messageboard is a blast to read. OMG THE SKY IZ FALLING~!!!

Oh, I definitely agree, Mik. I was just saying that in terms of losing weight, they'll have about the same impact.

I drink water almost exclusively. Once you get a taste for it, few things other than that really quench your thirst. I try and squeeze in some physical activity every day, which isn't always easy, but it helps. Here are some things to avoid when trying to lose or maintain weight: - Pop: This is absolutely killer. Drinking pop is a common thing among many people. Few drink just one can/bottle/glass of pop each day. They're usually working it in to two of their meals and then probably a couple of other times a day when they're thirsty. Pop has absolutely no redeemable nutritional elements; it's all sugar and empty calories. And once you get used to water, like I said, pop doesn't even really quench your thirst. - Binge drinking: I know, I know, don't be a square, but you'd be surprised how much cutting down on the binge drinking will do for you. Few people my age drink casually; they down tons of beer and hard liquor during the weekends or even throughout the week. Once again, empty calories and since it's not good enough to drink - you gotta get "fucked up," right - a lot of people consume their daily amount of calories just with the alcohol. It's funny, but you can usually tell when someone drinks a lot. Even the skinny chicks have that odd looking pot belly that gives it away. - Fatty foods: I hate to break it to you guys, but ranch, cheese, and mayo don't have to be part of every meal you have. It's good stuff, but my god, is it hell on your body. I grew up in a house where fast food was common and it was obvious long ago. I've longed since made the modifications to offset it, but if I were to give up fast food like IDRM, I could easily drop 10-15 pounds. It's convient to eat, but a bitch to get rid of. - Bad calories: Just because the 1500 calories you consume daily consists soley of Coke and Twizzlers doesn't mean it's doing yourself good. Gotta make the calories you do consumer "smart" calories. Problem is, there are so many bad calories out there. The thing with most obese people isn't so much the lack of activity in their lives, it's their diet. You cut the crap out, and things will change. It's tough, but it's actually going to be as effective for weight loss as physical activity.

American League, too.

Riggleman is still a coach with the Dodgers. And I'm almost positive that Sosa and he were at odds by time he made his exit.

Dave Campbell just suggested without a hint of sarcasm that the Cubs may want to look into trading for Alex Gonzalez (who now plays for the D-Rays). Like I said, Perez is no Nomar, but I'd rather see him in there than Gonzalez or most of the guys they could probably get to fill in right now.

You're down 4-0 in the ninth. You need baserunners. What do you do? If you're Aramis Ramirez and Jeromy Burnitz, you probably answered "swing at the first pitch and fly out." Last time I checked, solo homers only equated to a single run. Lee, on the other hand, worked a count in his favor and singled. Stoney pointed out that everytime he came to bat today, nobody was on base. Brilliant move, Dusty. And when they got two on in the ninth, who was in the on-deck circle? Why, Jose Macias, of course. Not Jason Dubois, like logic would suggest. This is one of those losses where I feel physically ill. I know that sounds extreme, but it's not even so much that they lost. It's that the decisions that were made during the game made the Cubs and their manager look like hapless jackasses who don't deserve to be contenders.

Adding on to this whole playing by the book thing, Dusty brings in Remlinger in to face Walker, who's batting over .400 against him. Why? Oh, the lefty vs. lefty thing. I guess you gotta go by the book. Might be wise to bring in a guy lefty who's effective against lefties and who has good numbers against the guy he's coming in to face.

Cubs got a huge break in the inning because of catcher's interference and had runners at second and third after a wild pitch with one out. Of course, they can't score, even though they have two of their big hitters up there. Credit to Carpenter, but why the hell is Lee, their hottest hitter, batting SIXTH? Oh yes, the L-R-L-R bullshit. Well, glad to see it panning out for them. Fucking Dusty Baker.
