Nomar's out for at least two to three months, meaning we're looking at about a month of Nomar for the rest of the season. That re-signing sure blew up in their faces.
-
But you got a taste of what the team played like when Bonds wasn't in the lineup last season. Why be surprised now? The way the NL West is panning out, the Dodgers can easily lock it up if they keep it going similiar to anything like they've been playing. Speaking of the NL West, what the hell is up with the camo jerseys for the Fathers tonight? Those are ass ugly.

Baseball fans have the whole "what have you done for me lately?" mentality going on, so it doesn't surprise me that most Red Sox fans are STILL bitter about Nomar's last season and have let it erase everything he did for that team since his debut. Tough break for the Cubs. They weren't getting production from him yet, but that wouldn't have lasted for look. If it's a tear like they said, he could be out for a while. I guess it's better to get the injury now and hopefully out of the way, but this is probably going to be one of those nagging things. And while they're no substitutes for Nomar, Hairston and Perez have been doing well when in the lineup. Excellent win for the Cubs tonight, though. I always get nervous when they play the Cards, especially in St. Louis. That warning track flyball Mabry hit to end the game almost made my heart stop. That's exactly the type of out I'd expect Hawkins to get in a situation like this. Hat's off to Zam, though, who pitched like an ace.

I'm surprised no one's questioned the move made during the Red Sox game, removing Ramirez in the late innings with just a two-run lead. And as faith would have it, there came a spot in the eighth where Jay Payton came to the plate with two on and two down. Of course, this would've been Manny's spot had he not be lifted earlier.
-
But at least you guys won 19 to 8 last night.
-
Nomar's insistence to make every play dramatic costs the Cubs a run instead of getting out of the inning. He had Aurillia by quite a bit but sidearmed the fucker like he was trying to hit someone. And he popped out on the first pitch with the bases loaded. Jackass.

The wind's blowing out in Cincy and in the first inning, all three Reds outs were close to being homers, but instead, were three superb catches. I think I should've benched Prior, though.

She certainly can't spell too well.
-
Woo, what a ninth in Houston. Astros must've been watching Cubs hitting instructional videos.
-
The Cubs continue to be the Kings of dramatic finishes that leave you feeling like you got stood up on prom night.
-
Kerry Wood has coughed up a four-run lead. Doesn't help that the Cubs stopped hitting after the second.
-
Yeah. Let's see if they can do any of this against a good team.
-
Well, maybe Yankee fans will shutup now. 13-0 in the second inning.
-
Schilling threw 117 pitches in five innings today. He struck out nine, but man, that shows what bad defense will do for you.

I would like to see the Yanks miss the playoffs, if for no other reason than the mayhem that would sure ensue.

I usually avoid them at all costs, unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't get people who make this a daily routine, though. It's disgusting, especially considering the way most people treat the bathrooms (what's with it looking like people tried to piss everywhere but IN the toilet?).
-
From The Stein: "Enough is enough. I am bitterly disappointed as I'm sure all Yankee fans are by the lack of performance by our team. It is unbelievable to me that the highest paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk. They are not playing like true Yankees. They have the talent to win, and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff, and the team to turn this around." I'm absolutely shocked that Womack, Wright and Pavano aren't repeating their career years so far. Absolutely stunned.

Did anyone see that hit Maddux just had? It could've been two, but since he was sort of jogging, it should've just been a single. But for some insane reason, he just kept running like he wanted to be thrown out.
-
It's amazing what some teams can do with a two-out walk. And why the hell is Hollandsworth still playing leftfield? Maddux got two outs, gave up a cheap hit to the pitcher, and the Matt Lawton hit a ball down the leftfield line the Holly just gave up on because he figured it was going to go foul. 'Cept it dropped in fair ground. They've since tacked on two runs.

But Fight Club's easily one of the most overrated movies of our times. I don't fully agree with the review, but too many people act like it's the movie. It's more of a cult classic than a truly great film.

My neck. Sometimes my back, but I try to avoid unncessary cracking. I've got a friend who sat in front of me in a class during my Junior year of high school; she'd periodically slowly turn side-to-side, cracking her back so loudly that I'd always question how she didn't need a cane or a wheelchair.
-
Oh come on, what's next? Forgiving him for giving "Blue Velvet" one star? I don't think so! You may disagree with him, but I've never read one of his reviews where he didn't justify his opinions on the movie. One way or the other, you know why he felt the way he did. He doesn't pan stuff just for the sake of it, just like he doesn't praise without backing it up. I don't always agree with him, but he's never produced a review where he didn't at least use solid reasoning about why he liked or disliked a movie. No one is going to agree with anyone else about every movie that comes out. I don't see why people get themselves in a frenzy because someone thought differently of the same movie.

Things were playing out as usual; Hawkins has a one-run lead, gets two outs, and then gives up a single, which parlays into an error, because Jose Macias was put into left field for some reason. Thankfully Hawkins got Bay to ground out for the save. Games with the Bucs shouldn't be this nervewrecking. A funny exchange between me and Al: DoctorofStyle85: Double switch; took out Hollandsworth. DoctorofStyle85: In comes Macias. DoctorofStyle85: Dubois; who the hell is that? alkeiper: if its defensive, its understandable Not two minutes later, Macias makes an error on a clean single. Apparently picking up a ball and throwing it in is a task in and of itself.

The ump in Pittsburg sure hasn't ever heard of an outside corner. Cubs not getting ANY pitches called out there tonight and now the bases are loaded in the 8th. *sigh* Can't this team ever just win sans drama?
-
What's this mystery of getting a single with a runner in scoring position? This rookie for the Cubs actually worked a walk, went to second on a bunt, and scored on a double from Neifi Perez. Perez got to third on a passball and Nomar and Aramis can't drive him in.
