MVP Baseball 2005 $24.95 preorder w/ free shipping

I'm down. I just hope they fixed that lefty glitch. The other complaints in this thread are all valid and maddening, but this was worse than all of them. A game where Michael Barrett can easily out-homer even the most potent left-handed bat, is in need of some retooling.

    Cubs Fans Rejoice

Glad to see him go because he it was clear he wasn't ever going to be able to handle the pressure of meaningful games. He'll probably do well in Detroit, unless he has to play in any significant games.

Paramount releasing Classic Nickelodeon on DVD!

Everyone buy this. It's the only hope we ever have of seeing any of the other shows on DVD.

    IMax

I like Max, but the show also felt like a bush league production. I don't always subscribe to the more is better theory, but having only three guys on the show, one of which wasn't even technically a participant, just didn't cut it. ATH is still my sports show. Say what you will, but I find it to be not only informative at times (keeping up with current sports news), but it's genuine entertainment when the right mix of guys are involved.

The new chicken enchilada burrito at Taco Bell

Agreed. The mix of too much sour cream and spice goes well together. Just don't eat one before you go do something active.

    Best Commercials SB 39

The beer commercial before the game started where the pilot jumped out of the plane after the six pack without a parachute was probably the funniest to me. The ones with the chimps were also good for a laugh. And I guarentee that BadDaddy.com got a million hits for the commercial alone. Hell, even I wanted to check it out even though they said what the site was all about on the commercial.

Wouldn't Alex Gonzalez be a backup at SS, Al?

"On the mound today, making his pitching debut, Aramis Ramirez!" Well, at least we know he could take a crack at closer if Dempster doesn't pan out.

Has anyone ordered MLB.TV from MLB.com?

I'll probably just stick with the MLB Extra Innings package. Going from buying every WWE PPV for over a decade and then not getting any, it's not like there's much of a difference in the cable anyway. I do attribute being to see virtually every Cubs game as a big factor as to why I took things so roughly last season. Obviously I didn't handle the transition from only seeing the WGN and ESPN games to seeing them all very well.

    Recent purchases

What's the Brak Show like? I've never seen it, but since I like basically all of the other odd-ball animated shows on Adult Swim, I'm thinking this could be right up my alley.

    And So it Begins

Thank god. I think at this point, Ramirez is the one guys on the offensive end of things that they can't let get away. I see some big things ahead of him if he's used correctly.

    Rob Van Dam DVD

Got mine for $5.99 thanks to the DDD misprice and it just came in the mail today. Looks great; can't wait to dive into it. I think I'll use this to chase down the Andre disc.

Probably not, but then again, Sosa was known to clash with previous Cub managers, so you can't pin it all on Baker. I don't deny that Baker helped bring out the worst in several players. His encouraging all the petty drama bullshit that went down last season made matters worse. Still, I think you need to consider all of the expectations that were placed on the Cubs in 2004. No excuse, but suddenly, they went from losers to guys expected to win the WS. Obviously the fans and players both had problems dealing with the harsh reality last September provided.

    And So it Begins

I expect him to put on his little act. Why would he start out his new beginning with his old ways? Regardless, we know he'll produce, but we also know he'll eventually resort to his petty ways. Then again, winning obviously isn't what's important to him, so perhaps this move will benefit all.

Yeah, they're for charity. I'll definitely get one if I can find one for a reasonable price. They're a lot easier on the eyes than the Armstrong ones.

    And So it Begins

Agreed. Mags would've been the way to go, but I'm not sold on him being 100 percent or reliable for the entire season. At the very least, Burnitz will add a left-handed bat for a lineup that was sorely lacking last season.

    And So it Begins

Sort of off topic, but has anyone seen those new Cubs wristbands that are basically like the Lance Armstrong bands? They're blue, have the Cubs logo and say "Believe" on them. I guess they were only available at the Cubs Convention, but they'll be putting out more eventually. Look pretty cool and I'd like to get one, but the prices for them on eBay are obviously borderline ridculous right now.

Baseball Tonight better not have John Kruk in 2005

I believe he had a severe rotator cuff injury that basically ended his career. He made a recovery, but was never the same player again, and quietly retired not too long after.

Just hope he doesn't "volunteer" to bat sixth. I hear that's how trouble starts.

Baseball Tonight better not have John Kruk in 2005

Both Morgan and Jon Miller have become such bitter old school commentators that I can barely stand to watch ESPN Sunday Night Baseball anymore. I used to enjoy their commentary, but in recent seasons, they've gone sour and just seem to incessently bitch about the most minute things during the game.

The OAO WWE Royal Rumble 2005 Thread

...or they just have a different opinion than you. Here's my own damned opinion . . . The PPV was awesome - if UT/Heidenreich hadn't occured, it would've been even better. HBK/Edge was really good, would probably give that one ***1/2 UT/Heidenreich was * at best, the ONLY thing saving it was the Snitsky/Kane interference, and the bump with Heidenreich halfway in the casket getting a legdrop from UT. The WWE title triple threat was pretty solid, I thought. *** HHH/Orton was superb. I know, I'll get flamed because everyone's two least favorite wrestlers were involved, but sue me - I liked the match. **** The Rumble itself was off the chain. Better than 04, on a pretty even par with 92. The ONLY thing that killed this Rumble was the ending, and I can even look over it, considering Vince probably busted a nut AND a kneecap trying to get in the ring. I have a feeling that he was supposed to speak and restart the match, but the whole thing went to hell when he couldn't even get in the ring properly. ****3/4 As a whole, it's one of the best PPV's in the last 5 years, without question. I'm stoked about WrestleMania, even moreso than last year. HHH/Batista will hopefully have a "big match" feel (assuming that's the route they take), and Angle/HBK should be about ten kinds of wrestling goodness. If anyone ever wondered why the star system has become such a flawed practice, here's a shining example. "Hey, that was a good match. ***3/4" The star system is really useless unless you, ya know, back it up and explain your reasoning. Unless you just pulled these ratings out of your ass, which would seem to be the case.

I request a mod change this guy's user handle.
  25. Him practically suffering a nervous breakdown surely didn't help his standing.
