Exactly. My friend let me borrow the set in 2003 and I polished it off within days. I was hooked. But that was mainly to see how it panned out. As strong a show as it was, I can't see myself sitting down to watch any given episode again now that I know how it'll unfold. Not because it isn't good, but because one episode isn't much good without the support of the others (even though recaps of the previous episodes were shown halfway through the first season). I'll probably get either King of the Hill or In Living Color, though. -
To think otherwise would be blind. Wasn't he arrested in the past because of cocaine and other such things? Yes. He went into rehab for it not too long ago, if I'm not mistaken. But what a shock. It's not like I wouldn't peg him to be an early exit from life, but it's still fairly rare to hear of younger baseball players (retired and active) passing away. He was one of the guys I often cringed seeing when the Cubs played the Astros, just because he always seemed to do the most damage.

The Astros have the added benefit of having taken 10 of 18 from the Cardinals during the season. I think those numbers are deceiving. A good deal of those wins came at the beginning at end of the season; neither of which were periods when the Cards were playing like the team we saw the majority of the season.

Because when you end your season (and not on a bang, but a whimper, like LA did) you tend to be more concerned with breaking something. True, but there's also something called sportsmanship. They'd have something to be truly upset with if they were actually favorites to win the series. They weren't, by a longshot, so they've got nothing to be embarrassed about.
-
Gotta agree; very classy by the Dodgers to go out there and shake hands with the chaps that ended their season. A refreshing change.
-
With Rivera on a leave from the team, I've gotta wonder how long he'll be out and how quickly his absence will be felt.
-
I love John Smoltz.
-
Hopefully Giles striking out won't come back to haunt the Braves. If Smoltz can nail it down in the 9th, the Braves will have all the momentum going into the deciding game. If this doesn't pan out for the Stros, Garner will surely hear about having to take Lidge out after facing two batters.
-
Hellmotherfuckingyes.
-
Okay, Smoltz just have me about four heart attacks. Wow, what an ending to that inning. Alright boys. Lidge is out. Go win it.
-
Which is exactly why teams don't care how they get into the playoffs; they just want to get in, because they know that once that's done, anything can and often does happen.
-
Brad Lidge's arm is going to fall off before this series is over.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What dork would have Ron Simmons call their significant other for their anniversary?

I'd hate to be an Atlanta fan right now. You guys must feel like the poor schmuck with the girlfriend who cheats on you time and time again, promises she's changed, only to break your heart again. At least the Cubs don't wait until the postseason to choke. And speaking of the Cubs, I feel like I'm watching them reincarnated in the form of the Atlanta Braves right now. How many more chances to tied this game up does Roger need to give you guys before you actually do something about it?
-
You wouldn't say that in the event of a Cardinals-Astros NLCS, would you? Yeah I would. What made you think I want to see those two teams in the NLCS? I guess you missed 20-some posts in the other thread about how I despise Houston and don't want them to advance to the next round.
-
I'm not just talking about the postseason. Nearly 20 times every regular season isn't enough for you people?
-
Where'd I say it's something new? I just said it's something different. Yeah, it's been done, but it hasn't been done to death like the Yanks/Sox have. Don't get me wrong, the best teams deserved to move on, which the Yanks and Sox clearly were in their respective first round matchups. I just don't get too caught up in the same excitement others are in about this series.
-
Not really. Looking at the numbers, there's still a better chance for those to reign true than what's already transpired in two games.
-
So that means these two teams will never be able to have an entertaining series, simply because their one series in the spotlight wasn't great? I apologize that not everyone is salivating at the mouth to see the next installment of bench-clearing adolescent theater.
-
Of course they did. What the hell is the appeal in Twins/Angels? Something different. But I know that sort of thing's taboo to some people.
-
I'm not saying he pitched a good game or even deserved a win. I'm saying that even if he had pitched a good game, there's a strong chance it wouldn't have been enough because of the lack of offense.
-
I'm already sick of it. And there's still roughly three days until Game 1.
-
End of discussion. It's not like he lost a 2-1 game where he gave up two runs in eight innings. THIS is an awful line. No two ways around it. He's blown it again on the biggest stage. He's a disaster. No he didn't pitch well, but Matt Morris could go out and give up that many runs and still have a chance at winning because his offense is so potent. Three runs usually isn't going to beat a team, let alone the best offensive team in baseball.

It's those damn $10 computers. You just can't get the same amount of information with one of those as you can with your average computer.
