Since we're talking about suing Oakland, I'd drop a Mr. Cooper reference, but it'd be lost on just about everybody.

Of course I went to bed during the bottom of the 8th inning. I miss everything.

I'll say this. You Yankees fans better pray that your starting rotation can go at least seven innings every game in the playoffs, because if you have to get that middle relief involved, things could get ugly in a hurry.

Why isn't this a blowout yet? It's bordering on hilarity how the Yankees keep getting runners to second and third with less than two outs and not come out with any runs. Can't forget about that dandy pitching, either. EDIT: Never mind, it's a blowout now. The Yanks are just on the short end, that's all.

    Cheapie DVDs at Wal-Mart

Most of you are aware of the $5.50 DVD section virtually every Wal-Mart offers. I'm not a big supporter of the place, but on those rare occassions I drop by, I always check this section out. Earlier today, me and the Mrs. had to drop by for some groceries, so of course, I checked out the DVD section. Anyway, after a few glances, I spotted a pair of WWE titles I didn't even know were out. They were History of Wrestlemania I-IX and Shawn Michaels: Boyhood Dream. I don't know how many times the history of Wrestlemania and various Shawn Michaels can be rehashed on DVD, but nevertheless, I picked them both up; mainly because they're two hours in length and look to be good for their asking price. The Wrestlemania disc contains the usual stuff, but the Michaels one looks to have basically all of his 1996 PPV matches on it. It may be a lot like the HBK video from Coliseum Video back in 1997 (if not the identical one), but running at two hours, you're likely to get a good chunk of the featured matches. Anyway, I didn't even know these existed and hadn't seen anything about them around here, so I thought I'd mention it for those of you who've got Wal-Mart by you.

And the Marlins are now up 6-2, thanks to the dipshit Expos making FOUR errors, one of which would've been a key double play and another that would've ended the inning, but plated two. Dandy.

They've got another one going here; runners at the corners with no outs and the big guys coming up. Chicago was probably a good home venue for the Marlins, since almost of the people in attendance hate the Cubs and thus, are truly treating the Marlins like the home team.

    So... Zsasz was banned

While we're speaking of fixations, I find it funny that this thread is still rolling, even though Zsasz was banned almost two weeks ago.

Moises' temper tantrum wasn't appropriate in the least, but this is a load of crap from a punk. He's going to be a great player, but last time I checked, his job was to play baseball, not do improv in the middle of the game. I would've plunked him, too and learned his ass some respect.
  11. I'm lost, too, and considering the parties involved, I probably should know what the hell's going on. I'll take a stab in the dark and say it has something to do with the erstwhile Stardust.

I'll be rooting against Beckett since A) it's the Marlins and B) he's on my opposition's fantasy team and thus, that must supercede reality.

    The N.L. Wildcard Watch Thread

Every team in contention has its fair share of things standing in their way en route to winning the WC. The Giants are the Giants and aside from Bonds and Schmidt, they're nothing. But a soft schedule make result in them fall ass-backwards into the spot. The Cubs have a fairly easy schedule, but have been playing so horribly on a fundamental level, it may not matter. The Astros have cooled off a bit, dropping three of five to the Bucs this weekend. And they've got the Cards six more times, so it'll be an uphill battle. The Marlins have been playing great ball, but face the challenge of a long roadtrip (including a few "home" games on the road) and more games than days left in the season. The Padres are fading fast, having lost most of their recent games. Plus they've still got seven with the Dodgers.

Bonds just crushed #699. It looked like they were going to walk him, as the count went to 3-1; the crowd started booing like crazy and on the next pitch, Bonds smacked the ball to straightaway centerfield. Pedro Feliz followed up with a homer of his own. I'd be rooting against the Giants, but my boy Schmidt's out there today and he's looking to go the distance, having only thrown 95 pitches through eight.

The Fathers just put up a 12 spot in the 9th inning in Colorado to seals that one up. It had been a one-run lead going into the inning, but that light Mountain air saw to the end of that.

I didn't watch from the 6th inning on, figuring I could get more productive things done, but 11-1? Yeesh. Against a guy who hadn't won on the road all season. Great.

You know what the funniest part of all this is? The guys who've been in the midst of this BS feud with the commentators have been among the poorest performers for the Cubs in recent months.

    Wal Mart dvd bin

Spotted a pair of new WWE releases due out Tuesday in the bin. History of Wrestlemania I-IX and Shawn Michaels: Boyhood Dream. Both two hours, so definitely worth a look.

    Cheapie DVDs at Wal-Mart

On further inspection, these are supposed to be released this Tuesday. Guess this Wal-Mart just dumped them in early. They're supposedly $9.95 each, but not the case at this Wal-Mart.

Dammit, why did I bench Hafner today?

He certainly did. And Mik, I wondered the same thing. I mean, I know he may need him later, but in the bottom of the 8th on the road, the game was on the bases. You've got the bases loaded with just one more out to go, but you've gotta get through Derrek Lee. It's not like it was Ramon Martinez or someone of that caliber. If that were the case, I could understand not bringing in your ace reliever. Oh well. What a comeback from the Cubs. It was nice to see everyone chipping in for the win today, not just the usual suspects.

Neifi Perez leads off the 8th with a single and advances to second on an error by Alex Gonzalez. Sosa follows up with a single up the middle that ties the game at 2. Color me shocked that Sosa drives in a run in a big situation; against Mota, no less. Mota plunked Grudz in the next at-bat, too. They still need to tack on another run, though, but I'm impressed they got back into it against a guy who's been lights out with Florida.

Mr. Clutch, Moises Alou strikes out with runners at the corners, to end a mini two-out Cubs rally in the 7th against Mota. Granted Mota's a tough customer, but if Alou's so clutch, one would figure he'd get that tying run in from third. But whatever.

I'll give Dusty some credit for once. Today's lineup has Ramirez batting third, Alou batting cleanup and Sosa batting SIXTH.
