Me and two friends were just watching the last few frames of the game and wow, we just about died laughing when the ump said the Kotsay didn't catch the ball. On the replay, it was pretty clear he didn't, but it just seemed ironic and hilarious that the same ump who had screwed him over the previous inning, didn't make the call in his favor on virtually the same play. But I told my buddies that it was over once they brough in Rhodes. Not a whole lot he could do about Roberts getting on, but loading intentionally putting Manny on is retarded. The odds may be against Ortiz, but he's still a dangerous hitter and with the bags full, you've got no room for error.

Johnny Damon is out for the fourth game in a row. He's listed as day-to-day after hurting his pinkie in the finale of the series with the Angels. It'll be interesting to see where this goes. At first, it was just supposed to be a day off, but people are getting paranoid now that this is his fourth game in a row he hasn't played in.

It should be added that this is the almighty Yankees we're talking about here. Against a team that's 16 games UNDER .500. I think it's not so much a case about the rules, but rather, the insecurity that the Yankees can't actually take two games from the Devil Rays.

... Could you stop, please? There ARE some exceptions to rules and I think natural disasters qualify here.

Ben Grieve just split his head open against the ivy-covered wall. Okay, maybe he didn't split it open, but he was bleeding from the side of his head after colliding into the wall to make a catch. Tough break. It's the curse of Sosa!
-
Anyone watching the Cubs/Expos game? The ESPN announcers are just ripping the Expos to shreds, as they're already down 7-0 through three innings. Jeff Brantley has especially been on Tony Armas' case for not pitching inside and having no pride.

Um, I think the well-being of all of those with ties to Hurricane Frances is a bit more important than the Yankees getting a game in. Anyway, if they're so damn talented, they'll just beat the Rays when they do play them.
-
No forfeit coming. They'll just make up the game down the road, I guess. Sosa's got the day off, with Ben Grieve getting the start in right field. Man, we could get some more drama and interesting situations if Grieve really picks up the slack.

Who's credited with the run producing?

Looks like AS will get his wish, as the D-Rays hadn't left Florida as of 2 P.M., meaning they'll probably only play one game and forfeit the other. This should delight the Red Sox fans.

You'd never know from the way the announcers sucked his dick as they replayed it five times. Hafner going down on strikes sucked, too, since it means I'll lose the strikeouts category for offensive players in my head-to-head matchup for the week. This fantasy baseball stuff is making me even more uptight about the game than I already was without it.

I guess I'll be the one to ask the million-dollar question: how are you, a 19-20-year-old, friends with a 14-15-year-old?

Isringhausen just blew a three-run lead against the Dodgers. The first two hitters in the inning singled to put runners at the corners, but Isringhausen struck out the next two, only to give up a pair of hits to tie the game. Larry Walker also left the game earlier after spraining his knee on a play in right field.

Wow, what a horrible inning for the Orioles. Not only do they get runners at the corners with nobody out and don't score, but they walk the leadoff man and intentionally loaded the bags with one out, only to walk in the winning run. Fantastic.
-
Javy often has a shaky first inning. It's just lately, it's been carrying over. But he's certainly settled down since then, giving up no runs and striking out eight on the day. For fantasy baseball reasons, I NEED him to go deep into this one.
-
Not anymore. Bellhorn just hit a grandslam to pull the Sox within three. Man, if they actually complete this comeback, it'll be a GAME AND A HALF. Awesome.
-
And I'm now learning the downside of having FOUR of the five Cubs starters on my fantasy team. I won't make the 30 inning minimum for the week and thus, I shall lose all pitching match-ups. Tremendous. Stupid hurricane. Anyway, it's almost comical watching the Yankees lately. They just can't get anything going. Not even against Ponson, who they totally owned earlier in the year.

Not unless Kevin Brown = Jim Abbot 2004.

This Red Sox game just became the best one ever, as the hot chick behind homeplate flashed her tit while she was talking on the cell phone during the last at-bat of the game. I'm not usually one to gush over fans, but that was pretty hilarious, as you had to be paying attention to catch it. But damn.

Three outs away from having a two and a half race in the AL East on our hands.

I think that's another problem with assembling a regular team that resembles an All-Star team. Hard-working or not, most of these teams tend to get a bit lazy, thinking that they've got it all under control. I thought this about the Yankees in the WS last year. It seemed they kept banking on this magic that they supposedly had, but never came around. That's what makes the Cardinals this year so rare. You've got THREE MVP candidates; half of the team have gold gloves; their offense resembles an AL team; their pitching is good and yet, they haven't let the fact that they've got literally everything clicking for them, allow them to slack off for even one game.

Who the hell tries to steal second with a runner on third with two outs in a close game? I understand being aggressive in a close game, but with two outs and a runner at third, that doesn't seem like an ideal time to try and run. And AS, the Orioles could've blown this thing wide open long ago considering how many runners they've had, so at least it's still a close game. But I'm getting a vibe that it'll be a two and a half game lead after this evening.

Banking on vets (namely the starting rotation) with past success is what got them in the mess they're currently in.

Yeah, but this omelet's 28-years-old, has a career ERA of over 4.00, is a career .500 pitcher and has only pitched four career complete games. Just because he's having a career year this season doesn't mean you should go out and invest in him longterm. Why give up on good draft picks for a guy who's just having a great season; his first in seven years in the big leagues? It's that outlook and method of practice that forces the Yankees to go out and sign new big names virtually every season, while having absolute shit in their farm system and areas like middle relief.

Yeah and if George had his way, there wouldn't be a pennant race in the AL East this late in the season. Your point? Just because Georgy wants it, doesn't mean he'll get it.
