I was referring to the first post. I meant that I don't recall SK ever going out of his way to avoid badmouthing HHH, because honestly, it seemed like he badmouthed him in virtually every RAW rant since HHH's return in 2002.
-
Since the article had to do with DVD and CD rot and not your average scuff and scratch, it would seem that you didn't or at least, didn't get the point of it. Anyway, everyone should note that the CDs that experienced the DVD rot were from the '80s, right when the medium was brand new, so of course, they were probably not produced as well as they are today.

First off, I've never understood your claims that SK went out of his way to praise the likes of HHH, Vince, etc. Maybe it's because he didn't. In fact, I seem to recall him bashing them on a weekly basis. Rarely has he given HHH props and at times, he's sounded much like one of the sheep around here who hate on HHH just to fit in. And big deal if he doesn't want to recap it anymore? How's that a brainfart? Even doing a crappy recap takes up a couple hours of your time, so why do it if you're not really obligated to do so or feel it's no longer worth your time?

The Cubs' offense continues to have an indentity crisis, breaking out in the five-run inning en route to winnin 11 - 3. I've said it before, but if they could get at least five - six runs a game, they could be sitting pretty, considering their pitching staff.
-
The Cubs continue to play like a AA team, making mental mistakes and not taking advantage of scoring opportunities. I don't know where the hell Patterson thought he was going on first when Todd Walker, who doesn't run well, is on second. Whatever he was thinking, it got him picked off, Sosa flied out and then Ramirez struck out. Thank god we don't play the D-Backs again after today.
-
So it's settled; Dusty Baker and Philadelphia fans are morons.
-
Here's a situation where I think playing small ball would've been the best option. Had they laid down the bunt correctly, there would've been runners on second and third with only one out. As it was, it's just another crushing loss for the A's.
-
That's some closer the A's have got there. Just when it looks like they're finally going to beat the Yanks, Rhodes blows the save on the first pitch of the inning and then gives up the lead. When you're a closer, having nearly 40 pitches in an inning isn't exactly a desirable trait. And Ratings, I'll agree there that the Cubs' massive offensive outburst was helped because of the winds at Wrigley, but they've got the hitting to be getting at least five runs a game. They've been struggling to get two or three lately. Granted they've faced a lot of good pitching, but they've blown their fair share of scoring chances.

So, any of the other Cubs fans on the boards concerned about the Cubs anemic offense the last week and a half? Teams slump, yes, but it looks quite bad to be having trouble scoring a run less than two weeks after you were outscoring the opposition by a couple dozen. I expect the bats to wake up once it gets hot out, but relying on hitting homers is just setting yourself up for failure come postseason time.
-
And Alou flies out. Wake me up in August. Teams that live by the longball are fucked in the end.
-
Bases loaded for Moises Alou with two down in the bottom of the eighth and they wisely bring in Valverde, the same guy who struck out the side in the ninth last night. I've gotta believe if they don't get it done here, they're down for another game.
-
Just to put into perspective how impatient the Cubs can be at the plate, Casey Deagle has thrown 29 pitches...through three innings.
-
Barry Bonds says a lot of things. Even he said he doesn't believe half of what he says. He's gonna go for the record and he knows it.
-
This game is never going to end and seeing as how I really couldn't care less about either team, I don't know why I'm still watching it.
-
Okay, they've won seven straight, the Sox have dropped five straight, the Yanks are playing like everyone thought they were. So, AS, are you going to be quiet for a bit? There's little reason to complain. Anyway, the Twins may have just had one of the worst fundamental innings I've seen in quite a while. I know the Cubs are pretty bad base-runners most of the time, but this was just ugly. They get a leadoff walk, FC and base hit and they never got a guy to second base. Bad bunt by Guzman got Stewart thrown out at second, Guzman gets totally fooled by thinking a base hit was a flyout, which leads him to heading back to first base to get thrown out. And then the guy who got the basehit gets caught in a pickle after having too big of a lead off of first. Just ugly.

Well, that cheered me up during this latest Cubs disaster. I swear they've gotta get embarrassed at least one game a week. I think it's clear that Mitre isn't ready to be a starter and you know he'd be in the pen if Prior weren't on the DL. I cannot wait for that, since Mitre has the habit of pitching very well for two innings and then having the wheels come off after that. And for the love of god, I don't care what people say, I'm really disliking the Cubs' offense. I prefer strings of hits that create runs instead of this homerun bullshit. Tonight's a perfect example as to why living and dying by the longball is a bad idea. Tons of warning track flyball outs that result in nothing. Maybe if they tried to line a single or double, they'd be getting somewhere and their offense wouldn't be so inconsistent. It's embarassing when they're down by three or four runs with no one on and their fucking swinging for the fences.

Thank god this is the final game of the Cubs / Cards series. While it's been a great series, I think my heart is on the brink of exploding from the intensity of it all. A series with Colorado and the Sexson-free D-Backs is just what the doctor ordered for me. As for this game, another well-pitched game, but the Cubs are blowing some chances to put this one out of reach. They've had the bags full back-to-back innings and have nothing to show for it. In all fairness, the first time they walked Lee to load them up to get to Gonzalez. This past time, though, Alou grounds out on a tough play to Rolen to end the inning. Time to get Maddux out of there, though.
-
Well, let's see here. They're missing arguably their biggest superstar, as well as Trot Nixon. The offense can't get it together for some reason, although I think you could suggest that Damon's poor hitting certainly isn't helping matters. Then you've got your best pitcher playing the "I want more money" game at a horrible time. Manny has really been bothering me lately, as his refusal to show any sort of hustle on the offense is almost sickening. Him standing there like a jackass when he thinks he's hit a homer, pop up or foul ball, has to stop.
-
If we're going by that token, what about the game that David Wells cost the team, after he had to be taken out very early because his back was acting up? I'd say that basically cost the team the game, as they had to bring in a bunch of relievers to basically pitch an entire game.
-
I'll agree to that. The Marlins simply wanted it more. The Yankees on the other hand looked like they had somewhere else to be the entire series. They played as if they were going to win regardless just because it was the Marlins. Never mind that the Marlins were the best team in baseball during the second half of the season and probably the best in the postseason.

Farnsworth is never going to be the pitcher everyone's been waiting for him to become since he broke into the big leagues. It's a shame because he seemingly only needs to work the kinks out of his mechanics and he could be a reliable guy out of the pen. You can only wait so long for someone to come around, though. He's nearing 30 and he's no longer a young man fresh into the league. It's not going to happen and the Cubs need to just unload him, even if they get little in return. He's doing more damage than good. He can be effective when there's no pressure, but he absolutely crumbles when put into a tight spot.
-
Because Dusty doesn't like to win games. I've defended the guy many times, but his insistence to continually put faith into the big guy who's never going to fully come around, is ridiculous and costing the Cubs big games. As an aside, I'm actually a Pujols fan but what an idiot the guy was in the 10th. He gets WALKED and COMPLAINS because of a strike called on the last pitch.
-
A classic game if FUCKED UP thanks to the increasingly worthless Kyle Farnsworth who is incapable of throwing a fucking strike. This guy is pathetic and just shat on everything his team did in the nine previous innings, including two great efforts from the pen in the eighth and ninth. He makes me sick to my fucking stomach.
-
Mik, I've never heard about the Alfonseca thing. Can you elaborate?
-
I'm not. At the very core of the set, half of the films are universally considered to be classics. Add in the fact that you get the busts and you've got a very hot item.
