What in all f'ing hell is wrong with the Yankees?

Hmm, I didn't watch the World Series, since it was about a bland of pairing as we could've possibly gotten, but I don't recall it being billed as Anglesault's World Series.

...not mine. Just a big display with TONS of the single sets. But no gift sets to be had.

    Pedro Martinez

Anyone find it hilarious that he gets shelled in his first start since dropping this news?

Where'd you find the Monster Legacy set? I've been looking all week and NO ONE has the set. They've got the individual sets, but not the one sum box set.

Because of the legacy behind the two teams clashing. Whether the Cubs were bad or not, their meetings with the Cards weren't always completely lopsided (aside from their trips to St. Louis over the last decade or so). I know you're all about who's in first and there should only be a fight or rivalry born over that, but I don't think so. I think it's one good reason a rivarly is sparked, but others are creating for various other reasons. With the Cubs and Cards, you've got two teams who are so close geographically that it's hard at times to tell who's the home team.

Doesn't matter. When these two teams lock up, it doesn't matter where they are in the standings. It's just the aura that these two facing each other has. I find the games to usually be much more interesting and memorable, as opposed to the Red Sox / Yankees rivalry. I'm not slamming it, but that one seems to be pretty much built upon one trying to one up the other with their wallets. And even if one team is bad, it doesn't necessarily make the rivalry any less intense. The Cubs / Brewers games tend to be among the most entertaining in the NL during the season and even when the Cubs have been good, the Brewers have been pretty poor, but the games have always been quite unpredictable.

Hell with Red Sox and Yankees, I think the Cards / Cubs rivalry is infinitely more interesting. These last two games have been classic. With the Cubs going into the bottom of the ninth up 4-1 and the heart of the Cards' lineup due, it made for a very interesting finish. They did plate one run and have two on when Sanders K'd to end the game.

Like I said, no one to blame but themselves. The three foul balls that came close to being homers weren't anything they could control but had they not flubbed on two of the following things, I think they would've won: 1) Patterson bobbling the ball on the Edmonds double that allowed Pujols to score. Without that bobble, Pujols doesn't even attempt to score or he's out by a mile, as he just barely made it as it was. 2) Barrett doesn't miss the hit and run sign, which left Gonzalez out to dry. Barrett would then double, which would've meant a run had the missed sign been avoided. 3) Kerry Wood making the error that put Womack at third with no outs. Probably one of the biggest plays of the game, as we wouldn't have seen the string of relievers come out there had the Cubs been winning. 4) Alex Gonzalez being unable to play small ball. He's not a big power hitter, so he's gotta be good in certain offensive areas. Laying down a sack bunt is one of them and it was his terrible bunt that set up the double play that took the wind out of their sails in the 8th. And then you've got the Cubs' pen really blowing their first game of the season, as only Hawkins was effective and even he ended up losing the game. I swear, I cannot wait for the Cards to move out of that stadium, as the Cubs play worse few other places than they do there. Great game, but it was something I don't ever wish to relieve. Wood was brilliant and now it'll be ignored because of bad mental plays and shoddy relieve pitching.

This wasn't as heartbreaking as Game 6 of the NLCS, but it's damn close. To have the bags full with one out and have Sanders pop out, only to walk in the winning run the next batter after getting ahead 0-2; it's just devastating. And yet, the Cubs have no one to blame but themselves. They made four key mistakes that can often be considered minor things, but it made the difference.

I'm going to weep if the Cubs hit just one more foul ball that barely misses being a homer. That's THREE of them now.

    Shoes

I was pretty close to buying a pair of Converse Weapons, myself, but couldn't find any color schemes that weren't hideous.

This Cubs / Cards series already has a lot of intensity going into it, as these two have developed one of the better rivalries over the years. Cubs plate an early run and that was one questionable called third strike on Lee, as it looked outside and the ump paused a few moments before calling it.

    Shoes

I've got about six pairs of regular shoes for everyday life and a couple of dress shoes. These are what I've been wearing the most as of late: Pretty affordable, yet quite slick looking, if I do say so. Multiple pairs of shoes are necessary for me, since the darker ones don't look right with my darker pants or jeans and vice versa.

    Hey guys...

I think Zsasz has a point, actually. Maybe he takes both things a bit seriously, but we all have some things we simply take more seriously than we should. Stating the obvious when it has nothing to do with the matter at hand reminds me of a Bruce Bruce bit where he said people should stop telling him how fat he is (he is a very large guy), since he already knows that. "I know I'm fat, you ain't gonna make me mad by telling me that. You wanna make me mad, you tell me Popeye's Chicken is goin' out of business."

Same here. Although first, I'll have to find the fucking things. P.S. my Best Buy and Circuit City suck.

Maybe he likes threads about what HHH used in his hair this morning or what Molly Holly had for brunch.

Steve Finley hits THREE homers against the Cubs, one of which tied the game in the bottom of the 8th with two down. Luckily, Alex Gonzalez homered in the 9th, so hopefully, Borowski can nail it down. In a related note, Sexson went down after a swing and had to leave the game, being unable to even finish his at-bat.

Heh, only a thread about RPGs started by Marney could turn into a flame session this quickly. My hat's off to you. If I had a hat, that is.

Giant Tidal Waves Could Wipe Out New York & The UK

I don't think the poor guy's ever going to live those two threads down. It's what he'll always be associated with, regardless of what he does. Kinda like Bret Hart and Montreal.

God damn you, I was going to bring up the well-being of the $10 computers. Oh well, I guess it wasn't as clever as I thought it was.

The Monster Legacy DVD Gift Set: Anyone else...

I believe he's referring to the 1943 version starring Claude Raines. I wouldn't consider that one to be a monster character, since he's a regular guy to begin with who just has his face done in by some acid. But seeing as how it was previously released in the Universal Monster collection, I guess they consider him to be a monster. And there's no need at all for the Chaney version to be released again because the two-disc set that came out this past September did everything with the movie you could've wanted. Excellent and much-overlooked DVD, right there.

    What does your room...

Mole's room is a perfect example of why it's such a huge ripoff to live on campus if you don't have to. Seriously, it looks like a spruced up jail cell. I don't feel like detailing my room, but I may take a few pics later, although to be honest, it's about the size of a jail cell, although it's a lot more comfortable.

    Class Rings

Nope and few people from my class actually did. I'm not opposed to accessories like that, but I think it's dumb to throw down a few hundred dollars for something that you'll honestly feel stupid wearing a couple years down the road. I mean, it's just high school. With today's school system, there is no reason you shouldn't be graduating, so to act like it's some huge deal is ridiculous. And I was always a fan of yearbooks. I hated a lot of people in the school, but it's always interesting to look back at them and see how much everyone changed from freshman year to senior year. Plus it's a great tool when needing to identify someone. Coming from a pretty big school, I didn't know everyone (in other classes, anyway), so when someone would talk about somebody that I didn't know, I could always go to the yearbook and place their face, if I hadn't known them by name before.

Dusty Baker was suspended for a game today and Kerry Wood for five, as a result of their actions during the Cubs / Reds series a couple weeks back. Can't say I'm surprised, although I thought they both had good cases for acting the way they did, although they carried it out a bit too far.

Also, the Mummy wasn't really a recurring character like these three were.
