    Least Funny Mainstream Comedians

Anorak, I didn't even realized you replied in this thread until you pointed it out to me just now. While I'm at it, I don't even recall see your post at SNKT, hence the reason why I never replied to that one, either. Had I seen it, I would've probably not jumped the gun on getting on your case for this thread. But then again, I didn't even know you posted at SNKT until you told me who you were, so maybe not.

    This Week in Baseball

This Cubs / D-Back series is just incredibly depressing. Mitre seems to have a good start and then a bad start. It's already looking like it's over, as it's now 6-0 and Baker went to the pen early. Unfortunately, he brought in Wuertz, who's just been horrible. And the two chances the Cubs have had to score, they've blown it. And why? Because they're a power team and if they're not hitting home runs, they're blowing big scoring chances. I'm already stressed as it is, but this is just making it unbearable.

That inning was brutal. Looking at the score, you'd assume the Yanks finally hit the ball well, but like Bored said, aside from Sierra's double, there wasn't a hard-hit ball. Rincon just absolutely sucked out there, hence the endless string of walks. I'm watching the Phillies / Cards game somewhat and it's funny because Joe Buck was reading scores from around the league and noted that the score of the A's / Yanks game was 5-4, A's. And that was two minutes ago. A bit outdated I'd say.

    "Friends" Appreciation thread

Regardless of whether you like the show or not. Not only do they pull the highest TV ratings in America. They are as popular all over the world. Do you think it'd be possible for you to make a post without sentence fragments all over the place?

All credibility of this thread was lost with that one sentence.

    This Week in Baseball

The Cubs got absolutely shelled tonight, plain and simple. With Johnson throwing like the Randy Johnson of old, they only needed one run. I attribute the Cubs' 180 to my comments that I made in Al's baseball column this week. You'll note that I made mention of how reliable Zambrano is, how great the bullpen has been and how the Cubs' offense has come alive. The opposite was true on all counts tonight. Oh well, that's bound to happen during the season. I will say that Zambrano's age and emotions really became apparent tonight. I've always admired the spirit and emotion he's shown for the game, but he was like a little leaguer on the mound tonight. Granted he wasn't getting some calls that he should've, but his reactions were quite juvenille.

    glennsoe

I don't frequent the WWE folder too often, but lately when I do, I'm reminded of why I don't. One of these reminders comes in the form of glennsoe, a poster who seemingly is incapable of doing anything but copy and pasting the most trite and un-newsworthy WWE happenings. It's bad enough that he tends to start a handful of new such threads each day, but he doesn't even throw in his own two cents on this crap that he felt was worth posting. Others have complained in some of the threads, but how about one of the mods do something about it? Yeah, this may seem like trivial bitching and perhaps it is, but I don't think I'm alone here when I say that this garbage needs to stop.

It can be frustrating to see hitters take good pitches, but it's all in the name of making the pitcher throw them. If they get behind a ball or two right out of the gates, they're more or less forced to throw something to the hitter's liking.

    $3 DVDs

Okay, after poking around the forums, I can say this site is god damn trash. The owner is so crooked it's sickening. I think anyone who supports this joker is a freaking moron.

    $3 DVDs

That wouldn't be a first, as many people do this and some have even been known to dig them out of the dumpsters. Dumpster-diving may be a last resort for many DVD aficionados, but there are several that are willing to actually do it.

I'm going to have to agree with the sentiment that the Yanks simply don't seem to be trying. I think a lot of them are in slumps, but many of them look to be phoning it in a lot, something they have no excuse to be doing. I think it has a lot to do with simply taking things for granted. Teams like the Yankees, who are always present in the postseason, are just taking for granted that they're the Yankees and regardless of what they do, they're going to somehow wind up in the postseason with a shot of winning it all. It's the same reason poor teams are able to play the role of spoilers for contending teams late in the season. Many of the contending teams are figuring that they're set up for some easy wins and that they're just going to roll right over their opposition. And then they get a wakeup call by actually dropping some games to these teams. I think they'll eventually break out of the funk, but I'm seeing a lot of slacking around, much like I saw during the 2003 World Series, the reason I truly believe the Marlins won their second world championship. They simply wanted it more. So far, almost every team the Yanks have faced this season have seemingly wanted it more. Simple as that.

I don't think you have to worry about that, buddy.

    $3 DVDs

Anything from China, Asia, Singapore or places like that are almost always fishy. I knew there was some horrible catch and Rob just C&Ped it. I'll stick to paying a little more for legit DVDs. Amen, especially ex-rentals from Blockbuster. If you don't mind getting DVDs with stickers on them, getting no insert, or not getting the original box (which are pitched in favor of Blockbuster's own cases), then I guess they're okay. But personally, all of those things bug the hell out of me.

Did he actually get them yet? I can believe some of these titles going for three bucks, but most of them seem too good to be true. Gotta be some horrible catch.

    TSM reviewers

Actually, I like that approach more than the stale PBP forumla most people follow. I think only the key or most notable PBP should even be mentioned and think that documenting the match move-for-move is a lazy and dull approach to reviewing a match. Yeah, you fill up more space that way, but most of it's not needed and I usually end up skipping the majority of the PBP in any reviews. Whether I've seen the match or not, I want to know why the reviewer thinks what works and what doesn't and why. Talking about every little thing that takes place in a match, regardless of how important it is, is a lot like a guy working on someone's leg during the entire match and then it having no affect on the climax. I don't know about anyone else, but when I see a lot of PBP, I usually browse on down to the last few sentences that'll tell me the finishing sequence and hopefully, what was good and what wasn't good about the match. I don't care for Coey too much, but as a reviewer, I think he's one of the more unique guys from the crop, as he tells you what works and what doesn't, and to me, that's what I look for when reading a review. Sure, I like some humor thrown in if it's a appropriate, but I honestly cringe when I read a lot of the reviews out there, because all it does is tell you everything that happened with little personal insight to the quality of it, aside from a star rating that's clearly been pulled out of the sky, as it's rarely backed up with any reasoning other than maybe one or two sentences, often along the lines of, "it was a total mess." Just my two cents.

    This Week In Baseball

Heh. Exactly how I was going to say it. Oh well, if had to be anyone, I wish it would've been Piazza since I've got him on my fantasy squad and he's K'd three times. Now it's important to just get through this one and get the win. With Clement breaking 100 pitches and the no-no gone, he should be done after this inning.
  17. Bruiser Chong

    This Week In Baseball

Clement is through six without allowing a hit. If he gets through the next inning, we'll be getting quite serious about a possible no-hitter. Of course, regardless if he gets it or not, this has been an incredible performance so far, as thanks to his pitching and a good performance from Leiter, this has been a pitchers duel, even though it was expected to be a slugfest.

    This Week In Baseball

Matt Clement has been totally lights out through five, striking out 10, walking one and giving up no hits. What's even more impressive is the fact that the wind is blowing straight out at Wrigley and the Mets have only gotten two balls out of the infield. If Clement could pitch anywhere close to this all of the time, he'd be a likely candidate for the number 2 slot.

What in all f'ing hell is wrong with the Yankees?

Since I've got Vasquez on my fantasy team and am hurting for any sort of help from my slumping squad, I'm behind the Yanks today.

    This Week In Baseball

Man, my fantasy team took a shalacking today. Abraeu was swinging a pretty hot bat, so of course he does little, Edmonds only draws two walks, Alou goes 0-for-4 the day AFTER I pick him up and I had Sheffield on the bench, since he's been so mediocre so far. So of course, he picks up a RBI. Better than nothing and I could've used it. Oh, and the Yanks and Sox were quite poor-looking today. Good pitching is one thing, but these guys just pissed on dozens of chances to score today. Nice to see A-Rod doing everything of jumping off the Empire State Building just to appease the unreasonable Yankee fans. They'll fucking love him by the end of the year.

    Wrestlemania xx DVD Easter Eggs...

Those are pretty lame. It would've been nice if they had added some things to the set that we didn't see on TV leading up to the show. And I think this probably could've been tossed in the WMXX DVD thread that is right by this one.

WWE Wrestlemania XX DVD in my hands now...

I think it was a travesty to the already fragile franchise that hadn't yet recovered from the unnecessary sequel. The first one was brilliant and a true modern classic. The sequel was okay, but as I said, completely unncessary. Its sole purpose was to milk more money out of the consumer. Of course, in comparison to the third installment, RoboCop 2 is freaking masterpiece. What a horrible movie. There's no written rule for it, but the latter version of spelling became the way to say something was stupid, instead of the actual spelling of the word, which would imply something homosexual. Of couse, the whole thing is pretty stupid, but that doesn't take away from the fact that using the term "gay" is an asinine way to describe something you don't like, whether it's meant in context to the true meaning or not. I'm sure he didn't mean that this was actually gay, but as I said, there are plenty of other descriptive words that can be used to convey displeasure over something. While you can see their logic in not wanting a clip of a guy who's made his living on being a graceful presence in the squared-circle look like he can't even walk to the ring without stumbling, it's these sorts of edits that bother me with their DVDs. Just let things be. No one's perfect and to fool around with things like the crowd noise, flubs, and other things they view as imperfections, is ridiculous. But then again, they've always had a thing for trying to enforce their own perception of reality.

How deep. It is indeed very homosexual that they made those edits. "Gay" can be used as a verb. And don't give me that "On the internet you are supposed to spell it G-H-E-Y!" crap. Please. There are plenty of other verbs that can be used to convey your displeasure with it. How old are ya, bud?
