  1. Not enough memory, eh? Well the answer seems obvious. Reopen registrations!

That's because the game only lasted about three more pitches after that leaving him little time to complain.

Alrighty then. My day is officially soured and how quickly the tables turn when you're a Cubs fan. Oh well. Baker's intelligence (or lack of) is certainly nothing new.

I agree that Baker's an idiot and I don't think the last pitch that Wood thought was a strike was actually a strike. Rather, what should've been strike three (which was right in the zone) was called ball three. And Merker only needs to throw one pitch to get the third out. Jesus, Baker, why do you think you've got a pen? I wouldn't trust middle relieve with a close game but the likes of Merker, Hawkins and Borowski are usually reliable.

For what? What should've been called strike three for the leadoff hitter was called a ball. I don't blame him for being upset.

Fuck Baker. What a god damn moron. Wood is well over 100 pitches going IN to the ninth and do they bring in their closer? Nope. And now we're down one. Jesus Christ.

Baker is insane for leaving Wood in. No way he should've even gone out there for the ninth and now the game looks like it may be in jeopardy.

Moises Alou may have just saved the game with that diving catch. I've always gotten on him for his lack of hustle all around but he's really impressing me lately. I thought for sure that the ball would drop in front of Alou and even when it appeared that he made the diving catch, I thought there was no way he'd hang on. Awesome.

*gives the Cubs/Reds game some love* We're six innings in and in the middle of a pitching dual. Luckily, Cubs were able to play small ball and score the only two runs of the game as a result of three singles in the sixth. The Reds' mental errors (having no one covering third and Jimenez breaking the wrong way on the Lee groundball) have also helped out.

All things considered, it could be much worse, AS. Mussina was in pretty big trouble the first three innings (including two bases loaded situations) and he escaped each time with little or no harm done. It's the Yanks' bats that are lacking here. Mussiana isn't pitching that well, but he's getting out of jams. And as I type that, Manny homers. I'm paying more attention to the Cubs game, where Alex Gonzalez just made a very spiffy double play that would've resulted in a run (most likely) had he not caught the ball. But since he was able to nab the line drive up the middle, he doubled Lidle off of second.

That rivalry hasn't been interesting in years, simply because L.A. really hasn't been all to competitive in a while, so there's less drama and excitement involved in the series.

Okay, that had to be one of the funniest errors I've ever seen in baseball. The Sox look to be out of the inning and Ramirez completely misses the ball, even though he had the longest time to catch it. I was surprised that the crowd wasn't going crazy on the ball being hit, but maybe they sense that Manny isn't exactly a great fielder.

How fitting that on one of the few nights I'm behind the Yankees (for fantasy team reasons), they're getting spanked.

You've gotta have more than three functioning brain cells to appreciate Seinfeld. It's all good, though, bro.

You just can't cut any slack. Like them or not, Stone's comments on the Reds trying to bunt were funny. Think about it, what sense does it make to have your power hitter trying to bunt when the wind is blowing straight out at WRIGLEY?

They aren't great, but I thought they were pretty funny today. Stoney's reaction to Griffey trying to lay down a bunt was hilarious. And the strike zone was crazy today, on both sides. That pitch to Sosa would've been called strike three half of the game, but thankfully, it wasn't and well, you know the rest.

That was quite honestly the most insane game I've ever seen in my entire life and I've been watching Cubs games for a decade now. When they gave up the HR to Pena and were unable to get three runs in the 8th, I thought it was over for sure. The fact that Borowski got out of the 9th with no runs gave me hope and I just about lost it when Sosa homered. And to see Alou send it out of the park on the next pitch, well, it was like watching a movie, except I don't ever remember being that estatic over a movie. Unbelieveable.

Welp, Alou and Lee drop the ball, although the ump's strike zone has been terrible today. Pitches being thrown in that inning that were being called strikes were being called balls earlier in the day.

With runners at second and third with only one out, you think about what might have been, had the double not been erased from the boards. Not to mention the couple baserunning errors that would've equated to at least one run for the Cubs.

    This Week In Baseball

That was...odd. I won't take sides yet since it seems like there were errors in the lineup cards, but I find it odd that the Reds didn't complain about the order until after Martinez hit the double. I think this game's over, though, because no way are the Cubs gonna get a fair shake at the plate now that Baker and the home plate ump had that intense confrontation.

Yeah, I don't agree with the trade (nor did I ever ). As you can imagine, I'm not enjoying the game too much, but I'm keeping optimistic that eventually, the injuries will start piling up for the Reds . Yeah.

Watching the Cubs game, I think it's painfully clear that Michael Wurtz has absolutely no business throwing in the major leagues right now. His "performance" today was disgusting. Of course, the Cubs' running on the base paths haven't helped matters, either.

I caught his show tonight and it sounds like he did basically the same thing as he did there. He said right from the get-go that he was getting ready material for his next HBO special, so he basically read his opening and closing bits (not that I really blame him, since they sound like they'll be an absolute bitch to actually memorize). His opening bit was a "poem" about being a modern man and it basically had a lot of tongue-twisters in it (i.e. "my inner-child is outward bound). His closing bit started out pretty nicely. A lot of people call him so negative that he said he'd share something he likes: fatal disasters. From there, he went on a five-minute bit that essentially involved a small fire spreading across the country, causing more and more problems along the way. It really dragged for the most part (although it did have a few nice lines in there). As for the rest of the show, he threw in some old lines from previous specials, but a lot of the stuff was just gross-out stuff that seemed over the line, even for him. The crowd wasn't too receptive to a lot of it, which he even noted. Basically a lot of stuff about pussy donors, things you never want to hear, enemas, etc. He did have a few good bits, including one about suicide ("Do you realize that at this moment, someone is dragging a chair across their garage and setting it in just the right spot?"), teen male deaths via masturbation, which involves cutting off your air before you climax and how if done wrong, it can result in death ("It's tough, because when you finish, you don't know if you're cumming or going."), among other bits. The opener was actually funnier (more consistent) and did a lot of talk about the usual things (cell phones, airport security), but they were done well, so I had no complaints. He also had a portion where he played the guitar (quite well, I might add), altering lyrics to some well-known songs. Not sure if he was the same opener that you saw, but he was definitely better than Carlin. But in all fairness to Carlin, he's just putting material together for his next special, so the whole point of these shows are to see what works and what doesn't. Hopefully he gets the message and realizes that some of his bits simply don't work.
