At least the Tigers are actually doing well unlike the bumpkin Cubs, who've faultered early. Since we're only three games into the season, I won't do anything close to panic, but it is annoying to see that the majority of the hitters are displaying zero patience at the plate, which is only working to the advantage of the pitchers. At Clement can be brilliant at times, but I've found him to be pretty lousy the majority of the time, especially if the opposing team has a lot of lefties.

I found myself doing the same thing since I've got this sickness that won't let me completely stop watching a Cubs game, regardless of how hopeless the situation is. Tonight's game just reminded me a lot of Game 5 of the NLCS where it was evident that Beckett was on. At least Lee broke up the shutout in the 9th, as you'd hate to rack up a goose egg in the second game of the season. Regardless, poor night for the Cubs' hitting and Maddux didn't impress me at all. Hopefully he can prove me wrong in saying that the acquisition was a bad idea.

This Cubs / Reds game is quickly becoming hard to watch. As a lifetime Griffey fan, I was a bit torn watching him blast one out of here.
-
I forgot that game was on. I was checking out the Cubs / Reds game where Maddux hit two in his first inning of work. No hits or runs given up, though.

It's free for the entire week, if I'm not mistaken, meaning that Sunday night will be the last free night. And all things considered, the Yanks should've probably scored at least three or four, since they scored two with only one out and then loaded the bases.
-
Yes, because we all know that the Yanks have dropped two of three because of Lofton. Granted he should be getting on at least half the time as a leadoff hitter, but christ, could you wait until the season's more than two weeks old to start completely shitting all over the team that you supposedly love?
-
Same here. I had actually planned on getting it after being unable to watch more than half of the Cubs games from June - on, but I cooled off on the idea as this season approached. But since this week started, I've basically become sold on the idea just because if I get the package, I can basically watch baseball pretty much whenever I feel like it. Something about the games that've been played so far, too, they've just made me want to buy the package.

Says you. Seriously, not for casual fans, but the Slammy's footage alone keeps it from being the worst CV ever.

Join the club. At least have the satisfaction of seriously feeling that my team will make these little losses mean nothing in the end with a big 'ol ring. You don't even have that. Some keep this on tap come October. I'm watching the Stros/Giants game right now and even though I hate Bonds, I'm pulling for him to hit 660. Maybe it's just because it's against the Astros, but whatever the reason, I'm a bit miffed that he really hasn't been given anything good yet (nor has he had much patience). Looks like the Giants may have this one just about wrapped up, although they could've removed all doubt had they taken advantage of the bases-loaded, nobody out situation.

Tigers impressed me once again and it's not just because they won. They're showing so much improvement in many areas and while I doubt they'll finish with a winning record, this team looks heads and shoulders above last year's team. With that said, the Young injury is a quick blow to the team. I saw it as it happened and knew something was wrong immediately just from the look on his face. Luckily this isn't last season where Young was their only decent hitter.

I hate responses like that. Why should someone avoid something they have an interest in just because they (rightfully) don't agree with how the thread's being done? What's so wrong with even daily threads on baseball games? And I wouldn't bring up with what Dames puts up with since he essentially puts up with anything and still pays outrageous amounts to keep this place going.

Despite being dead tired, I found myself back downstairs and watching the last two innings of the As / Rangers game. Rangers looked like they had it on lock until good old Jeff Nelson was brought on and single-handidly blew the game.

All things considered, this has been a great day for baseball (on a personal level). Cubs win, Astros lose and the Tigers actually look competent. Bonds homering was absolutely surreal and the way the Stros sort of fell apart at the end of the game reminded me of the tail end of last season when the Brewers shook them up on the first game of the last series of the season and basically took them out of the race, as it had a domino effect on the Astros.

A Cubs hitter actually coming through when the bases loaded? This clearly isn't 2003. Good stuff and despite being a huge Cubs fan, I was totally expecting Alou to go down swing. And to think, this all started with two down and no one on. As an aside, I think this thread is a bad idea. This thing's gonna get congested real quickly. Can't we just have separate threads for various games?
-
I didn't follow the Dodgers too closely last season, but everytime I saw them, Roberts was a consistent thorn in the side of the opposing teams, so I don't know if I'd bench him.

*looks at 2003 postseason thread* Could've fooled me.

Despite trying to cut back on what I spend on DVDs, I sprung for the 8-disc release of the Freaks & Geeks series.

I have it. Apparently Batman's father is actually Chewbacca. Er...

No surprise AS despised the 80s.

I'm sure most of you have heard about former MLB pitcher Jack McDowell's off-hand comments about Prior's injuries and steroids. While it sounds like he didn't directly mean that Prior was hitting the juice, it was ignorant of him to even put the two subjects so closely together as he did.
-
And that can be easily resolved with a tool such as Microsoft Paint and some webhosting. There are free or very inexpensive webhosting options out there so there's really no excuse here.

Do you have the original TCM on DVD? For 10 bucks more, you could've had both of them, which is the route I would've taken (if I had even the slightest interested in even owning them, that is).
-
I was wondering the same, myself. It wouldn't be so bad if any of the truly huge ones had any redeeming qualities. I know there's always the "just turn sigs off" crowd, but we shouldn't have to just because some people don't know how to resize a picture. Quite frankly, I'm tired of seeing this particular picture pasted all over the board, not only because it's quite large, but because it's not exactly one that's easy on the eyes.

Upcoming TV show DVD release dates
Bruiser Chong replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
I'm all over King of Queens and so should you people. Ignore the fact that it's a sitcom, actually watch it and you'll be pretty shocked at how non-formulatic the show usually is. Anyway, I'll also be jumping on Freaks & Geeks Tuesday freaking morning before I do anything else and I will definitely be there for the Simpsons, hoping that it remains slated for a 6/15 release. And the TMNT DVD is indeed the old series that most of us enjoyed during our childhood. It's a complete season set, even though the first season is only a handful of episodes. Regardless, you can get it for less than eight bucks shipped at DeepDiscountDVD.com, so I'm there anyway, if for nothing else than me and my buddies sitting down and taking a nostalgia trip for a couple hours. We'll ignore the fact that I've already got at least 10 full tapes of the series on VHS in my basement from when I taped them as a kid. This is DVD we're talking about, after all.
