Then don't post in a thread about the guy if you don't even like the genre he represents. It'd be fine if you liked hip-hop but not him, because then you may be able to make some valid points, but considering you don't like it, your thoughts on him aren't needed or worthwhile.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the original Kanye West thread was linked as the first response and yet everyone's continued to post in this one? Only one thread's needed and I think the other one was superior.

The official Dawn of the Dead 1979/2004 thread

So 2GOLD, you're saying it's okay for children that age to see any gore? Hell, I know it was pretty light on the gore, but children that age shouldn't be exposed to any sort of gore whatsoever. Yeah we're living in a more messed up society than in years past, but does that really mean that a kindergartner should be watching a guy have his neck ripped out?

The official Dawn of the Dead 1979/2004 thread

I don't know really. Like I said, the character just didn't "click" with me. How can a character who has a handful of scenes in a movie not click with you? I found nothing at all offensive or unappealing about his character. There were other characters in the movie that I disliked much more than him. As for the actual movie, I'm not a big horror fan (although I wouldn't consider most of these movies horror since contrary to popular belief, gory doesn't = horror), but this was more like a comedy, as most people have pointed out. There were instances where some people in the theatre jumped or even screamed, but overall, I wouldn't say this was anything more than a dark and gory comedy. As an aside, I was pretty upset to see a fucking child who couldn't have been more than four or five in the theatre as we left. It may not be my place to speak, but what sort of shitty parent takes their child to a movie of that nature? It wasn't scary but it sure as hell was gory and to a child, it may have been scary. So many parents are fucked up and have no right raising a child.

    Faarooq released

You mean him being released didn't answer that? As a rule of thumb, when you get fired, you aren't given another job within the same company. Anyway, it's being reported that "inappropriate behavior" on the part of one Mr. Simmons over the Wrestlemania weekend is what did him in. The drug tidbit may have a tie-in here, but obviously, we won't know until we're told what exactly he did. I would hope it was at least drug-related, since his partner has gotten off the hook for many drunken disturbances over the years.

Because I saw that you started this thread after Sass' message in the other one that told you not to use all caps. Seeing the title of this one, I was just looking for confirmation that you are in fact a dumb shit who can't read or follow a simple instruction. Actually, I don't have a lot of time on my hands, but see, heres the deal: I've been registered here for almost two years, so all things considered, my amount of posts is quite small. Yeah 2.2 posts a day, man I must have tons of time on my hands. You waste of space. And before you use the counter-argument that you've been here more than two years, I'll just note that I don't just post here when I'm looking to unload a barrage of shitty bootleg DVDs and whatever trash you try and pedal here. And to answer your question, yes I am a trader and more importantly, I'm a seller (and a pretty successful one at that). So no need to question my presence in this folder or thread. No rocks, eh? May wanna give that a twice over. Have you checked your head? Certainly doesn't seem to be housing a functioning brain, so perhaps you've got some stored there. I'm not trying to get into a big thing with you but it bothers to see people like you only post when you're trying to unload merchandise, all the while cutting down the board. I'm far from innocent when it comes to bashing this place, but at least I bring something to the table.

It doesn't matter what it is, when you are critiquing something, it's possible to have a set of standards and such that you're assessing it on. When you review a book, movie, show, etc., you have a criteria for which you're judging the quality by. Granted, it's not as easy to do with something like a comic, but it's possible. Explaining why you don't think a comic's funny or what exactly your beef is with them is a lot better than just spouting stuff like "he sucks."

So? That still means you type in all caps, which is a bitch to read. It's not like it was a huge post, so I think you could've taken the two minutes needed to fix it up. You do realize how ironic those two paragraphs are, don't you? First off, you respond to someone calling you an idiot by using "your" in the wrong context, as well as "a," not to mention spelling "idiot" incorrectly. Then you go and say how you hate people on the 'net who talk shit from the safety of their home when in the previous paragraph, you threaten someone, yourself. Are you not in the safety of your room or something? Are you in the safety of the public library or what? If not, then don't be so quick to cancel out what you say so quickly.

    What should I do?

Yup, you're talking about a piece of shit. I should compile a list of unethical sellers I've either run across or know shouldn't be dealt with. Anyway, I buy and sell only masters on eBay and while I charge quite a bit (opinions vary) but I'm always straight-up and honest about everything. Additionally, I've never told a buyer that there was nothing I could do when a problem arose. In the rare case of a problem turning up, I've always done something to fix it, often being on the "losing" end of things. I figure it's worth it to keep potential repeat customers happy (p.s. it's worked). As an aside, I think the fact that the seller in question gives "F-" should've been a sign that he's an idiot.

    DVD Releases

If I can actually find it around the city (yeah right), I'll be looking into Onibaba for sure. Good price, interesting concept, packed DVD. Sounds like a winner to me. Married with Children will probably get added to my library eventually, but I'm in no hurry, although I hear some Wal-Marts have it for $22 or so.

    Least Funny Mainstream Comedians

Gotta love all these people dropping names with not even a hint of a reason as to why they feel that way. You're entitled to your own opinion, but at least back it up with something more than "he fucking sucks balls" or "he's overrated shit." Here's a perfect example. I'm a big Jerry Seinfeld fan and a huge Seinfeld fan, as well. Despite my fandom, I can see why some people don't like it. That isn't to say that it's the fault of the show, but rather, it's the humor that a lot of people just don't get. I'm not calling you stupid or anything, but I know a lot of people who hate the show just because they're too damn thick-headed about things and think anything that they need to actually think about is stupid. I think that's something that makes the show brilliant. You've gotta have a head on your shoulders to truly appreciate some of the material on the show, unlike something like Friends, which is nothing more than a poor man's Seinfeld for the thinking challenged. When it comes to that show, everything short of smashing you over the head is done to let you know when you're supposed to be laughing. It has its moments, but for the most part, it's far to mediocre to get all the praise come give it. I often find that those who hate Seinfeld love Friends. Makes sense, though, since they're basically polar opposites on the thinking scale. Yes, a guy who has been a comic staple for over four decades must suck just because you haven't heard of him outside of this forum. Jesus. He's a comic I can understand people not liking because of his extreme views and the fact that his standup specials don't follow the basic formula most are accustomed to. He's usually up there making great points, but doing it in a humorous way. Unfortunately, him using this unusual formula has scared of many. Because it was original and despite this country being absolutely terrified of such a trait, there are times when a fresh concept is able to sneak by the radar detectors and become a success before it can be stopped.

    Is my ID being stolen???

How high of feedback do you have on eBay? If it's a fairly high number, there's a good chance someone targeted you with a fake eBay email. I had the same problem last year by simply opening the email (not even replying). Since I stupidly had the same password for both my yahoo account and eBay account, both were taken over. I got both back eventually with no real damages done, however.

The Simpsons season 4 DVD release

Like most questions in life, the answer to that can be found within one of my columns. As for the people complaining that they're making the sets too slow, I gave my feelings on that in the aforementioned column, but I think if they actually come through with a June release, complaints will have to subside somewhat, since it'll at least be 10 months after the release of Season 3 and not 12. Of course, FOX has a habit of pushing the release date back like someone's already noted, but I'll put a little faith into them this time around and believe the date given.

I agree that it's a view that's pretty over-the-top, but I still think a good basic point is made. Even though having a degree is a necessity in almost any well-paying job today, there are still a lot of people with degrees who are having trouble finding work. I'm not scholar on world issues, but I do know that much. Other issues covered in those skits like picking up bad habits is something I also see to be true. Like I said earlier, I'm a college student myself, and while it's only community college, I've still had enough exposure to people my age picking up these bad habits because of the new freedom that college offers (those who go away to college, that is). It's not necessarily the fault of the colleges, but the lack of supervision and enforcement really allows for a great deal of these kids to fall into damaging habits, with many of them never being able to shake them. I don't mean to come off sounding like a wet blanket, but that's what I see around me and Kanye touches on that in the first School Spirit skit. And I agree, while I don't find the skits to be as damaging to the album as others, they do disrupt the flow of it at times, although one could argue that they're needed to add that extra dimension to it and are what completes the primary message being delivered. The bridge on the final cut version of Slow Jamz is quite long, which is why I don't see why West didn't just hang onto the version from the rough cut, which had one, albeit, a much shorter and more succent one.

    Kanye West

Considering that he's been pretty much on fire and the man behind a ton of hits over the last two years, I think it's safe to say that such a move wouldn't be a bad call. He's in a great position where he's multi-talented and doesn't have a huge ego (yet), so the possibilities are really broad at this point.

You'll find that most peeps here think that all rap is mindless trash, but of course, that's just what the mainstream rap appears to be on the surface (for the most part). That said, this isn't one of them. He's becoming more mainstream, but this is an album that's quite far from mindless and cliche. I love the concept of the album, being a first year and less than enthusiastic college student, myself. I think that's what a lot of people are failing to see here when they complain about the amount of skits. Yes, there are quite a few on there, and possibly too many, but they all tie in with the concept of the album. It's not like most rap albums that offer skits that have nothing to do with the rest of the album and are often just their failed stab at being humorous. The skits on this CD aren't exactly what I'd call great, since I usually skip over them, having heard them already. However, they all serve a function and while many may think that the message gets redundant or a bit far-fetched, you've gotta remember this is a concept album. The two Graduation skits compliment We Don't Care nicely, and the Pomp and Circumstance theme in the background of Track 3 is simply beautiful. Any real musician or music fan would appreciate it. The skits that accompany School Spirit are funny overall, and while many will complain that going to college is a great way to get laid and get an education that will pay off financially in the end, you've gotta note the many exceptions to that notion. There are a lot of college students who get so wrapped up in their studies that they basically cancel everything else out of their life and in the end, what do they have to show for it? A lot of degrees with no guarantees that they can even find a job. And let's not forget a sizable debt for most kids. Granted a degree will definitely help out in many cases, but there's still nothing that promises you you can find a high-paying job just because you've got some degrees, especially with the economy the way it is currently. As far as the stellar tracks on the album go, I think while most of them are at least worth a listen, the standout ones at this point include We Don't Care, Spaceship, Never Let Me Down, Get Em High and Last Call. The two singles that are in heavy rotation are solid, but with Through the Wire being in pretty heavy rotation since October in my house, it's grown a bit thin. Slow Jamz is also a strong track, but the oversaturation of it in the past two months has really taken a lot of its luster away. Honorable mention goes to Jesus Walks and Two Words, a pair of songs that most are praising as some of the best on the album, but don't do a whole lot for me (although the message in the former is pretty interesting). We Don't Care offers up a catchy hook and plenty of memorable lyrics throughout the three verses (Some of them dyslexic / They favorite 50 Cent song 12 Questions). Spaceship also offers up a catchy and soulful hook. Never Let Me Down was one of my favorite tracks when I heard a rough cut of the album in early January, and it's still a good listen. Get Em High is easily my favorite difference between the rough cut and final cut of this album. It's a little less intelligent than the others, but has the best beat of the album, in my opinion, one that hooks you immediately. Talib Kweli and Common offer up okay verses on the track, although Common's disapoints a bit, considering what he's capable of. Last Call has gotten a lot of flack for being too long and being nothing but West giving his life story over the continous beat of the song. I really like it up until it hits that point and while his story isn't dull, I only listened to it the first listen. I usually just go to another track once the true song ends and the banter begins. The New Workout Plan seems to be the favorite track to bash off of the album, and I'm not sure why. It's a bit corny, but it's still got some nice production value and has one of my favorite lines on the entire album (Ooo girl your breath is harsh / cover yo mouth like you got SARS). I don't care for the second half of the track, but it's all good before that point. Breathe In Breathe Out is probably the only track on the entire album that I just can't stand. I'm so sick of Ludacris at this point it's not even funny. The guy has basically decided that he can phone everything in now and no one's gonna call him out on it. Not to mention his actual voice sounds like absolute shit, which I'm not sure if it's intentional or not, considering the subject matter of the bland track. One track I wish they had kept on the final cut was Home, which was the last song on the rough cut of the album. It's definitely one of the stronger songs from either version and would've fit on the album much better than the lame Luda track. I was glad, though, to see that they had ditched The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, a song that I could barely sit through whenever I tried to listen to it. Overall, easily the best hip-hop album of the young 2004. It's likely to become one of those classic essentials in every hip-hop collection, and it's nice to finally see some of the non-cookie cutter hip-hop getting some mainstream play.

    Rob Feinstein........

M.L. Curly had a weekly column in the Detroit Free Press (may other papers, as well, but that was where I read his columns) on wrestling that was pretty smarkish. A lot of my "insider" knowledge in the early 90s came from his columns (i.e. whatever happened to, what's going to happen, etc.). He was usually pretty accurate and most things he said would happen usually came to be. I'm in the dark as to what's happened to him in recent years (although the namedrop earlier in the thread would suggest it wasn't good). Anyone know what became of him?

    Marge Schott has Died

At the risk of sounding insensitive, who really cares? I mean honestly, she was a horrible person and pretty old, so I wouldn't even think that this is a bit of sad news. Let us not forget her actions in response to the death of that one umpire on opening day nearly a decade ago. It's a shame when someone dies, but I can't say I'm even remotely upset to hear it.

Vince McMahon overacting Hall of Fame

None of these lines hold a candle to the promo that was highlighted by the lasting words, "When I die, I wanna go straight to Hell!" And if we're talking about overacting on Vince's part, we can't forget just about opening promo for WWF PPVs in the 1980s and early 1990s. Those Survivor Series opening promos remain some of my all-time favorite PPV openers.

    Stardust & Max Power

Not to sound like a prude or anything, but how many times have you two met in real life? I'm not anti-Internet relationships, because if you two connect and all that sappy crap, then more power to ya. I just think it's weird to make such a huge life change after having met a couple of times, that most couples usually make after months or years of steady dating.

When did Soviet Culture Become so Chic?

*owns a CCCP shirt* Incidently, I'm half Ukraine and I'd probably be messed up if my dad's side of the family ever saw me in it (since they're full-blooded Ukraine). Luckily, none of them live in Michigan, so I need not worry about that too much. Personally, I agree with Kotz and just think the design is awesome. I'm not stating any sort of belief system when I wear the shirt (even though some may disagree). I'm just sporting a boss logo.
