...wow...quite the uptight one, aren't we, Marney? I just find it funny that you're acting like I was telling people how to spend their time when I was simply questioning it all. And how ironic that you pin the messiah label on me, when you spend most of you're time talking about how everyone's such an idiot. Don't try and tell me that I've got some messiah act going when you spend half of your time going around here spouting off bullshit about how stupid everyone is and trying to make others feel like shit for your own personal amusement. If that's what you get your kicks from, then so be it, but if that's the case, who's the pathetic one? As for the attention thing, I'm not the one who feels the need to go off on some profanity-laced rant at the drop of the hat. Nowhere did I say I did my "homework" on the situation, but I've seen enough of those threads to question what the appeal of them is, not as a reader, but as a participant. I said I didn't wanna get in some flame war with you, so if you're waiting for some sort of a long, drawn out post, complete with lots of cutdowns and foul language, better grab a Snickers, 'cause you're not going anywhere for a while.
-
I don't remember saying I wasn't reading the thread, otherwise, how would I know what it was all about? I just didn't get why it was being dragged out for so long. I'll leave it at that, because I really have nothing else to add, and I don't feel like getting into a thing with you. I appreciate you calling me out on something I didn't say, but I'll pass this time, thank you.

I dunno, man. I was able to give my nails a break from all that biting during all the bullshit that's come with this series. I want the Sox to make it to the WS, but they haven't played like a WS team in this series. They should be up 2-1 in this series, IMO, but they couldn't take care of good scoring opportunities. I usually get into their matchups, but this series has been memorable for all the wrong reasons. The actual baseball has been almost like a sideshow attraction next to the three-ring circus of the Dominican Repulican taking down a senior citizen, the Amazing Double Pump Fisting Groundskeeper with cleat marks in the back, and the always sensational frisking of the pitchers. We just need big Stein to come out on stilts in the clown getup to make this deal complete.
-
I figured that, although I don't think what I said falls under that category. I apologize for questioning threads like soon to be 700-page one bashing the hell out of another poster for an incident that went down in their real life. I guess I just don't get the overreaction that some people display over the simplest things. You'd think that she killed a member of Marney's family the way she's carrying on about it.

Cubs/Marlins > Yankees/Sox

Yeah, I agree, but just shut up, dude. You come off as big a nitwit as the rest of them. Hey, I don't remember saying that. //Homer Simpson

I was wondering whatever happened to this. Looks like he finally just gave up (the guy who runs the site, not Randy).

I'd be down for a horror movie channel as long as 90% of the content wasn't regulated to slasher flicks which seems to be the genre that most people mistake horror for these days.

Tomorrow night.

With the Cubs losing, and the Red Sox/Yanks being cancelled, this has been one lousy day for baseball.
-
Yeah and I hope all those bandwagon Florida "fans" enjoy it because they're gonna need some serious luck to get past Prior and Wood. Not taking anything away from Beckett, but this game should've been a blowout by the Marlins, with the number one guy going against the recently shaky number three guy. Hopefully they'll get it done on Tuesday, because my nerves can't handle a possible game seven at this point.
-
But still, I'd rather the series just be won and not give the Marlins another chance to keep it going.
-
Jinx. 2-0 Marlins. With the way Beckett's been pitching, things aren't looking good for today.
-
Even though the Cubs didn't score, the hitters were looking a lot better against Beckett this time around (or at least the four hitters he faced here). Ramirez nearly broke the tie, Simon hit a bullet, Gonzalez got a hit, and Bako hit it pretty well, albeit an easy flyout. Still, you've got Zambrano getting into jams nearly every inning now and you've gotta wonder how long it'll be until Florida finally comes through. Hopefully Carlos can get through two more and then turn it over to the pen.
-
Skin should be an interesting series, but back to baseball, I agree that something's going to have to give sooner or later. Even if Zambrano is able to set them down in order, he's already up to 90+ pitches and we've only played four. They're still in good shape if they lose today, but you'd rather see them close this thing out and have Prior and Wood ready to go right away in the World Series.
-
I think Leiter was just saying that as a state of mind that hitters have when down by that much. They know it's not possible, but they want to tie it up right away. And yes, you did hear Motorhead when Pudge came up.
-
Yeah, when they've done something to warrant the praise. Beckett will be deserving the praise he's getting right now if he's still pitching like this in three or four innings, and if he is, my hat's off to him. The announcers are complaining about the homeplate ump's strikezone, saying the pitch that Lee was called out on was too low, while they said nothing when Alou got called out on a pitch that was just as low.
-
We haven't even played two innings yet and I'm already tired of the FOX announcers being all over the Marlins' dicks. Yes, they're a good team and they don't give up, and yes, Beckett is a very good pitcher. We get it.
-
Another reason FOX sucks--It's now going on 4:20 and they're still covering football. I know everyone loves football (cept me), but why are they going through scores for the second time when they're supposedly going to start at least the pre-game show at 4?
-
They play tomorrow, and if they're scheduling it like the NLCS, they'll play Monday, as well, with Tuesday off.
-
Well, if the Yankees are the SUPER TEAM that some build them up to be, then they can work past the one-day rest difference. I can see where you're coming from, but it's supposedly the greatest franchise in MLB going against the most hardluck team in MLB (although it may officially become the Sox if they don't make it and the Cubs do), so I don't think the difference is that much of a factor.
-
I agree on that, but as a long-time Cubs fan and having seen them play for so long, I take nothing for granted. We shall see how things unfold. As for the story in Boston, I'm finding it hard to believe that they would attack a guy for just doing a double pump fist. I think in this case, both parties are in the wrong, because I'm sure that both did stupid things to let it get to the point that it reached. I'm enjoying myself watching the Cubs/Marlins series, while the Yanks/Red Sox feud has just gotten so out of hand that it's almost not even worth watching. I know everyone like conflicts and bench-clearing brawls, but it's gotten to the point where the slightest oddity seems to result in an overreaction of huge proportions. When you see the crap that went down in Boston today, you are reminded of just how childish pro athletes are allowed to be about the littlest things. You couldn't go beat a co-workers ass because you thought that the coffee he made tasted lousy, so certainly the attitude that a lot of these guys carry shouldn't be condoned, yet it is, because they make money, they draw fans, blah, blah, blah. I say 86 the Yanks and Sox right here, right now and give the championship to the Cubs. At least they and their fans show some class.

It's FOX, of course they did.

The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection DVD Cover...
Bruiser Chong replied to Steviekick's topic in The WWE Folder
No, but Zsasz felt the need to bring it up again. -
Willis is a talented guy, but truth is, wearing your emotions on your sleeve like that can work against you, just like Leiter was talking about. I think people got a somewhat wrong representation of Willis, because he was pretty much unhittable the first time through the league, but once batters saw him the second time through in later series, they figured him out, and thus, he doesn't look as incredible as some thought he was. He'll be back, but I'm glad he's out, because he's the one guy on the Marlins squad I could draw some sympathy for when he's not doing well, but now that's he's gone, I won't have to worry about that anymore. And some will probably slam the Cubs for leaving them loaded, but they did get one from the bases loaded situation, and you can't put a lot of faith in Miller and Clement at bat, because that's not what they have them for.
