Um, weren't people all over the Oakland fan? There were some questioning why Ortiz got so into it (which you could look at from a couple of perspectives), but there were many who were against the idiot fan. And for a fan to get involved is bad enough, but when an employee gets into it, well not only is that bad, but it's unprofessional and idiotic (even moreso than when a fan does something).

I watched one of the funniest things ever...

I believe Lamb to the Slaughter was one of the episodes that Hitch directed, and thus, it's one of the few AHP episodes that's made it to DVD. That's probably one of the more memorable episodes, but I think there's quite a few episodes that aren't as well-remembered that are just as good, if not better than the ones that are.

I'd love to see a Cubs/Sox WS, but the Red Sox players, fans, and staff just conveyed a very negative image today and I wasn't too sad to see them lose, despite my disdain for the Yanks.

The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection DVD Cover...

Yep, I thought it was the other thread about the DVD itself. I didn't know there was one for the cover.

I only got to catch a couple innings of the Cubs/Marlins game last night, as I was visiting a friend at college and all of us took off during the 7th, when the game was still 2-1 Cubs. I had my brother calling the cell every half inning just to update me and I thought I was gonna lose it when he told me that they had tied it up at 4, but was so happy when he called and said that Glanville had driven in Lofton with a triple. When he called me up to tell me about the Marlins half of the inning, I almost lost it when he said that Ramirez had made an error. Luckily, the runner got thrown out to end the game, so it was all good and I enjoyed the rest of my night. BTW, what went down where the Cubs couldn't score Glanville from third with only one out? I know they seem to fail at scoring during the easiest situations, but I was surprised to hear they didn't get him in.

    HUSH, Lee & Loeb Run

You know where Sass DOES post? SNKT. If you feel the need to talk with the man, head on over there and start up some discussion and he'll be sure to jump on in. As for the topic, I haven't been paying attention to the arc, so whatever happened with the Jason Todd thing? Was that just a swerve?

Dammit. I guess that's what I get for not being a hardcore fan/resident of this folder. Carry on.

    I'm heading to Atlanta!

I was just digging around the folder and thought it was funny to see someone so cocky that the Braves would take out the Giants, which obviously wasn't the case, as the Braves didn't make it out of the first round. Sort of like this year.

Isn't it funny to look back at old threads like this and seeing everyone being so off in their predicitons?

Some of the AHP episodes were predictable, but a lot of them were simply genius, and I'm not using that term lightly. Alfred's wry humor was always a delight and most of the episodes were great, although, much like TZ, the one-hour ones weren't anything special, although TZ did have a couple of good ones (i.e. the one featuring Julie Newmar as the Devil).

Blasphemy! Better than AHP? No way. I'll agree that TZ tends to be overrated and the portion of episodes that sucked were during the period where Serling was more or less being forced to go along with things and had little to no say on the creative end of things. I'd LOVE to see AHP on DVD (more than just the episodes he directed), but the one thing I have realized about both shows is that some really don't hold up well to multiple viewings. Since just about all of them feature twist endings, some are bound to carry little substance and once you've seen the ending, there's not much left to go back to.

Well that part was used to scare people, but I believe the rest of the episode was more to provoke some thought rather than induce horror. Most TZ followed that formula, but there were certain episodes that used more "frightening" tactics than others.

I don't think it was trying to frighten you as much as make you think. One of the great things about TZ is that Serling often incorporated his feelings on real and serious issues into the stories of the series, simply because they couldn't be discussed in a straight-forward manner. By dressing real issues up a bit and making it seem like it "wasn't real," Serling found a way around the system and as a result, just about every TZ episode offers some commentary on society. I would take it that this episode, for instance, deals with spoiled children and the power they hold over their parents and even other adults.

I don't really find the attitude to be all that funny, but that's just me. I guess it could be funny in an over-the-top sense, but I still find the episode to be a bit of a downer, even though I'm not one for the cliche happy ending.

I watched one of the funniest things ever...

I've seen it and have it on DVD (the box sets). It's probably one of the more famous and influential TZ's out there and that's saying something. The story was used again for the TZ movie in the 80's and you Simpsons fanatics will surely recognize the story as being spoofed in Treehouse of Horror II, where Bart plays the part of Billy. Him turning Homer into the Jack-in-the-Box was also lifted from the episode. Although it's a pretty famous episode, it's not one that I'd consider to be one of my favorites or even one that I like to watch. The whole episode just sort of brings you down and I'd rather feel that way at the END of the episode, not during the whole thing.

Well, technically the game wasn't over, but if you think about it, it was over after the Sox failed to take advantage of the first two innings.

On one hand, it looks like they've got Pettite's number tonight, already getting six hits, but on the other, their execution thus far has been horrible. No way they should have six hits and only one run, especially when half of those hits came in the second inning with no one out.

Jeez, with three singles and a walk, I think even the Cubs could've scored one run. At least they're getting Pettite in jams early, but if they fail to take advantage before he hits a groove, they'll have no one to blame but themselves. They could've blown this thing open right out the gates, but as it is, we're scoreless.

Is that in reference to Bret Boone, brother of Yankees' third baseman Aaron Boone? I know what you're trying to say, but it's still funny, since them being brothers pretty much means that Bret has some relation to the Yanks.

What would you consider to be..

That would be the edition that followed Wrestlemania VI. That can actually be found around the file-sharing sites, as I had it on my computer for the longest time. I only got to see the two editions on FOX, but was able to see some of the earlier ones thanks to videos later on. I can't really pick a best one, since I'm only really clear on the two ones I saw when they first aired, but I always thought it was cool how a big tag match would be featured on almost every edition of SNME. It'd always be some match for the titles or some 2/3 falls match and they always ended up being great. I remember watching the SNME where Sid turned on Hogan and being quite surprised. The other thing I remember about that day was being at Toys 'R' Us earlier in the day and buying the Natural Disaters Hasbro figures and the cashier talking about SNME.

That had to be the strangest pitch I've ever seen in my life. That thing went sideways right away. And glad to see Veres get a chance to pitch when it's not a do or die situation. I think they left Prior in too long, but at least they got him out of there. And doesn't Cox walk oddly because he's had double-knee replacement surgery?

I agree that they should put someone like Guthrie out there at this point, just so he can get some confidence back.

And that presents the question--who do the Marlins stick with, Lowell or Cabrera? Anyway, something I forgot to note is that if the Marlins had taken advantage of even half of their scoring chances in this game, we may have something resembling a game. Not to say it's over yet, but Prior's been far from himself tonight and had the Marlins gotten to him early, this may be a different game. And funny how the announcers spend so much time talking about how weak the Cubs outfielders are (which isn't to say that they aren't pretty average) and then Alou makes that boss throw to get the odd double-play.
