Wow, what a first inning. Even Alex Gonzalez gets in on the action. I sorta felt bad for Pierre having those two tough plays after they did that little piece on how he gets to the ballpark so early to survey the surroundings for the game later on. But oh well, live and learn. Hopefully Zambrano's on tonight. I was surprised they scored when they had the chance to. Encouraging stuff. And AS, I just meant that these two teams don't have a bottomless pit of money to go out and buy big name after big name to get to the postseason every year.

How are they flukes? The Cubs are where they are because of their pitching and taking out the best team in ALL of baseball and the Marlins are here because they've been the best team since May and took out the second best team in baseball. Not to take anything away from the other series, but give them some credit. These supposed flukes didn't BUY their spots.

I'm gonna be pissed tomorrow if we get Sox/Yanks instead of Cubs/Marlins.

The Cubs were able to score enough runs against a pretty stellar Braves' pitching staff, but yes, the Marlins' pitching will be a challenge, as will the Cubs' pitching. I think the outcome of these first two games could play a factor in the outcome of the series.

    DVD Releases

Personally, I think what makes A Christmas Story so good is that it's a story that all of us can relate to in a way, not to mention that it holds such a strong appeal to such a wide audience that it's tough to ignore. It's one of those movies that makes you forget about the real world for a couple of hours and just doesn't ever really wear thin. Further more, it's one of those movies you only see for roughly a month around the Holiday season, so in a way, watching it is like a holiday tradition and an indication that the holidays are here. There aren't many Christmas movies that don't ever wear thin and are as memorable and quotable as this movie is.

    Buffy Thread Enters Classics?

I think once a thread on the board reaches a certain length quota, it's considered a "classic" for some reason, regardless of whether it's worth reading or not.

Wow, and here I was saying the Red Sox would be the first team eliminated. Well, SOMETHING had to give. The universe is still waiting to implode in the case of a Cubs/Sox WS.

Prolly cause two of his teammates just got FUCKED up on a play and I guess he thought these dickhead fans could show just a LITTLE bit of respect.

Yeah but does an incident like that happen every game? A guy's being wheeled out on a stretcher while the other guy is lucky to be standing. Where's the respect? Oh yeah, he's drunk, I forgot. Being drunk is always the loophole in assuming responsibility.

All this talk about the Boston players being so busch league, and then we get the idiotic A's fans doing that shit.

...wow. That was sick. And they STILL made the play. That may just sum up this series for the A's. They've gotten the shaft in the oddest plays so far.

Not me. I've got a paper due in the morning, but I can't concentrate at the moment, so I see me whipping it together before class tomorrow.

I think that now that the Braves are out, all you Braves fans should get behind the Cubs. After all, you wouldn't want the team that took out your team to lose, would ya?

Wow, bad way to end the inning, but hey, gotta take those chances when you get them and that's what Gonzalez did. I was surprised he didn't go to second on the ball he hit, cause if he had, he would've scored on Goodwin's hit. That's the past now, though, cause it's time to go to the bottom of the ninth.

Sorta odd how people usually get on Baker's case for leaving his starters in there too long but he finally takes a guy out before he gets in big trouble, and they wonder why he does it. Granted Wood's pitched excellent ball, but he's up to 117 pitches and you'd figure he'd be going at least another 15-20 with the heart of Atlanta's lineup at the plate. And now, by taking Wood down, they were able to add an insurance run and have the chance to tack on a couple of more. Goodwin came through in the clutch after Miller just stood up there for three pitches for some reason. Oh well, let's hope things work out. *crosses fingers*

I think that should have been one of those exceptions where they overturn the call. And what a bunch of tools the FOX announcers are. They spend all that time talking about how Lofton caught the ball and it should have been a triple play and then they dance around it just to avoid any controversy when the head of the umps (or whoever the guy was) came up there to explain the call. I'm not sure how much longer Wood should go. If he gets in any trouble, it may be wise to go to the pen.

I know I'm carrying it out a bit too far, but I must ask, why do we have six umpires out there? To get six wrong decisions on plays like that? You can call me biased for being a Cubs fan, but that still is bothering me because instead of Wood pitching a deserved shutout, he's pitching in a three-run game. Not to mentioned he had to tack on a few more pitches because of the bad call. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I must ask, why not use an instant replay in baseball? Is it because it's not "traditional" or something? Because I think that a lot of crap is going by because of no instant replay. It's time like this that I begin to think elements of these games are fixed.

What a SHITTY call right there. Yeah, they only got one run and Wood got out of it, but Lofton clearly caught the ball and that should have been a triple play. Cubs fan, Braves fan, or neutral viewer, you cannot deny that. The Braves just made five outs in that inning and that pissant Giles is complaining. I could admit if Lofton hadn't caught it and it had been close, but that was such a terrible call. Hopefully, that doesn't factor into things.

Ok, I think the biggest mystery of the playoffs just became just how David "Haystack" Wells landed a wife like that. Well, obviously millions of dollars didn't hurt, but still. Wow.

    Am I the only one?

There's no heel presence on RAW because HHH has been made to look like the only credible heel for the last year. Love him or hate him, because of him, no other heel has truly recieved a push that remained stable and elevated that person to a true heel status. Everytime Jericho gets there, he's regulated to messing around in a feud like the announcers one he's currently in. Or in Kane's case, after being built up as an awesome heel, he sort of faded off and then basically has been demoted to working with a non-wrestler and making him look good. You can't be surprised that there's no heel presence when the only guy in the last year who was allowed to be a dominating heel isn't around.

Wow, what a time to get your first hit of the series. I was about to say that Walker's inability to move Nomar along may have been the play that cost them the season. As it looks, we may just be heading back to Oakland.

I tuned in just in time to see those two controversial plays, and I must say while the first was pretty justified (he was just trying to block the plate it seemed), the second one was clearly interference and should've gone in the A's favor. Oh well, I see the A's pulling this one out. To me, the A's and Marlins look like the best teams thus far.
