No, had the Phillies won several games that should've been easy or sure fire wins, they would've probably clinched the WC. And jeez are you cocky about the Marlins, or what?
-
I wasn't sure about their playoff chances, either, because I thought the Phillies wouldn't choke, but my point is the fans really aren't loyal in the least. Yeah, management screwed them over but that was FIVE years ago. Put the past in the past and move on.
-
Yeah, but they've added a lot this season to make the team a contender, and the fans still didn't come out until the last couple of weeks.
-
It'd be in Chicago if there were to be a tiebreaking game played, which I would think would bode well for the Cubs, as they've played the Astros well at home, and the loyal fans of Chicago being right behind you would definitely be a big advantage. Speaking of fans, watching closely at some of the other games over the past few weeks, I've noticed something and it really bugs me. You look at a place like Wrigley field, where fans are out there packing the place up, regardless of where their team is in the standings, and then you look at a place like Florida, where fans are only now coming out to the park and getting behind their team, now that they'll be making the playoffs. Go look at their stadium two months ago and you'll see a barrage of orange seats and tumbleweeds, but now that they're just about in the playoffs, all of these "fans" are out there supporting their team. I guess it's the whole bandwagon thing that gets under my skin. It's like, they don't want a thing to do with the team if they aren't winning, but as soon as they are, they're the most "loyal" fans in the world.

I dont think its hilarious, we all bash the product because as it happens, we care about what happens. We have all enjoyed the WWE at one point or another and thus we always hope it will get better. As for buying tickets, people complain about how shit their sports teams are, but still go and see them in person when they get the chance. This is no different. There is no need for your 'high and mighty' attitude. Oh yeah, I *DID* get tickets. I have no high and mighty attitude in this thread. I was simply pointing out it's pretty ironic how people shit on basically everything WWE does and yet they're ready to kill someone over not getting tickets to the live show. I'm a fan and always hoping it'll get better, but I don't see things improving all too much until late 2004 and 2005. With the same flock of guys still ruling the airwaves as we close out 2003 with no real signs of change on the horizon, most of 2004 will probably be a lost cause and similar to the last two years. But whatever, far be it for me to make a simple observation. You all act like WWE's this big honest company that actually gives a damn about the fans, when I thought we all knew the truth, yet everyone's so shocked that they could "betray" their loyal fans like this. I guess if I had come in here yelling, "FUCK TICKETMASTER~!!!," all would be right?
-
I think it's hilarious that we all bash just about everything WWE does to high hell week in and week out, yet some of you breakdown when you can't get tickets to Wrestlemania. Yeah, it'll be cool because it's Wrestlemania, but it's still not too far off from now, meaning little will have changed and you're just paying a shitload of money to see something in person that you piss and moan about every week.

And the age of the average Cubs starter is the main problem should they make the playoffs. They're all young guys, and Wood's the only one who's seen post season action (I'm not counting Estes) and even that was only once. Prior seems to be able to rise to the occassion, so I'm not quite worried about him, but Zambrano's so emotional that he lets himself get into jams. As for the pen, yeah, I didn't expect them to get out of the inning without giving up a couple of runs, but six is way too much. Alfonseca was the only one who was actually any good out of the pen last night, as he worked his way out of a leadoff error by Ramirez that put Pena at second with nobody out.
-
The Cubs' pen sickens me. People wonder why Baker always sticks with his starters until it's absolutely necessary to bring in a reliever, well tonight was your reason. Yeah, it was Zambrano's fault for loading them up, and with the bags full with no one out, you figure at least one run will score, but six? C'mon, that's pathetic. I would've been content if they had just given up two and left it at a tied game. Some say it's because they aren't used enough, but even when they've had to be used a lot, they've been pretty bad. The five-game series at Wrigley was the only time in recent months they've been good. And I don't know what Zambrano's deal is all of a sudden. Wearing his emotions on his sleeve like that probably doesn't help, but suddenly, he's looking a lot more human and then some. If you're a Cubs fan, you just need to hope that with tomorrow being basically an automatic win (please no jinx), they can take at LEAST one more game or hopefully two. I can't see the Stros sweeping the Brew Crew, so hopefully they'll split the series, which would most likely put the Cubs in the post season. If not, then you can look no further than the Cubs' pen as the reason.

I think the funny (or not so funny thing for Cubs fans) is that the reason the offense has suffered at times, is because the three and four hitters (Sosa and Alou) don't usually come through when they're needed. The two first guys in the batting lineup tend to get on (or at least one of them) and so many times, Sosa and Alou have failed to even move them along. You won't go anywhere if your top hitters aren't getting anything done. Alou's been better lately, but Sosa rarely seems to get the job done, whether it's a clutch situation or not. He's never been a guy I've wanted up there in a clutch situation, because he just doesn't have the patience needed to make something of such an at bat. Luckily, Alou and Ramirez are getting hot at the right time, and the two leadoff hitters tend to have a good on-base percentage, so it's starting to show up on the scoreboard. But if the Cubs continue to not take advantage of the majority of their scoring chances, they won't go far. I've seen them come out of what should've been a huge inning with a run or nothing too many times.
-
Now that they've got their own fate in their hands, the Cubs just need to keep winning and the rest shall fall into place. If they do make it into the playoffs, it'll be interesting, as they've got a nice mix of young guys (both inexperienced and experienced) and vets who've been there before. You figure, in a short series, facing Prior, Wood, and Zambrano wouldn't be a task that many teams would like to take on.

I'm hoping the Twins will be able to turn it on for the Yanks and get them out of the first round just to see the fallout. As for Manuel, yes, he's gone. He was on the fence a few months back but now that they've gone and completely blown it, I'd say he's gone, even though it wasn't really anything he did. He wasn't out there giving up the runs or not swinging the bat well. I was watching some of the Tigers/Royals game and caught the part where Llyod was pitching and I must say, I felt bad for the guy. Sounds like he does that on a regular basis, but perhaps not seeing him all the time (unlike Alfonseca) and seeing him be so horrible, got some sympathy out of me. Not like the Royals had a shot in the game, anyway.
-
Yeah, but ESTES? I thought they had realized how much he sucks and replaced him with Cruz. Cruz isn't a whole lot better yet, but he's got potential to be pretty good and he shows it at times, where as Estes just flat out sucks. Oh well, maybe this'll be a good night to give the bullpen some innings since they do need to get working if they really wanna be in the playoffs and actually have some effect.

Fun night tonight, with the Cubs winning, Kerry Wood going quite far with a no-hitter, the Giants getting a 10 spot in the second against the Stros, and the Marlins and Phillies in the middle of a nail-biter.

The One and Only Raw Thread (9.22.03)
Bruiser Chong replied to Nevermortal's topic in The WWE Folder
What's the point of changing announcers if they're going to still be telling the fans who to hate? Coach and Snow sounded just like JR and King bashing the Frenchies, just now. -
Totally agreed right there. If they don't make postseason, it'll be completely their fault, as they had a chance to get within a half game of the Stros with a win tonight. Barring some sort of a miracle, that won't happen and they'll go back to a game and a half back. As an avid Cubs fan, I'm almost hoping they don't make it to the postseason simply because I already get mad about enough things without them adding to it. I swear, no article of my home is safe when they're playing, or more specifically, not playing well.

It was reported at DVDtalks.com, as well, and you know how those folks are with DVDs. They are on top of everything. Sounds like it could be a great set.

It's becoming more and more obvious that his roomy has taken control of his account once again.
-
Yup, got a PM from him, as well. At first I thought it was something worthwhile but then saw who'd sent it. He just asked what I thought of him. I replied kindly enough by saying I think his roommate had the right idea when he said he'd passed away.

On my way home from class tonight I stopped by to see if they had Suburban Commando in the bin like I'd heard it being in some stores. No luck, but scooped up Wallstreet, Freeway, and Very Bad Things. Grand total - $18.00. Not too shabby.

That's a hell of a compliment actually. Oh and typical SNKT. They can gang up on me in chat, but heaven forbid anyone take a few shots at them. Lighten up, pussies. Whoops, I think you forgot to mention how much you overreact to just about everything in some of those chats (and boards actually). Dude, you lost it when someone dared to say that Bond flicks weren't the classics you make them up to be. Take some of your own advice.
-
No, but you're in the minority. I know a lot of 'net people crap on it, but hey, they crap on just about everything. I've yet to actually meet someone who hated it.
-
Well, that's the entire point of SNKT. Never has it been its objective to get as many posters as this board has. Without sounding too harsh to this board, SNKT tries to filter out the crap, so to speak, leaving you with just the "goods." SNKT has a lot of the best posters from WDI, TSM, and other places in one forum. The fact that I don't have to go through a lot of garbage to find something good, or through a lot of kids or idiots to find someone intelligent, is one of the perks of SNKT for me, at least.

Yeah and true to form, Zsasz (or maybe we should call him Banky Lite) makes a cut on himself following each lousy post he makes.
-
Don't forget to give credit to the person who dubbed you "Sherlock" in the first place. And Zsasz, honestly, this reminds me of something Banky would do around here. Methinks your school needs to end the strike...soon.

Pete & Pete Storyline Question
Bruiser Chong replied to Phoenix Fury Legdrop's topic in Television & Film
They seemed to have a friendship throughout the series that could possibly be more. They rarely directly addressed it, but it was clearly existent during the entire series.
