I just wrote a walkthrough for FeeDVD4Me.com...
Bruiser Chong replied to a topic in Television & Film
I'd like to do this myself, but wanna know which ones you can just cancel via email. I hate calling customer service for anything since I usually end up talking to some Arab. Are there many you can just cancel via email or is mainly via phone? -
You know, I really loathe buyers like you. Idiots don't understand what a waste of time and money it is for the sellers.

Exactly. Thank you, this is what I was going to say earlier in response to the CK hating. Everyone knows that it's considered one of the best movies of all-time and some people are determined to not like it on the basis of that. One kid in my class even mentioned this saying he thought it was dumb that we praise these movies as great "just because other people say it's the greatest movie ever." He's a bright kid, but I disagreed with him, there. The movie isn't going to seem great if you don't go in with an open mind or are unwilling to like it. Of course you're not going to like it, if you've already made it clear that you aren't going to give it a chance before one second of the movie has been shown.

In regards to Citizen Kane, it's a movie that everyone should at least see and give a chance. We watched it last year in literature class and I was one of the few who didn't give up on it when they saw it wasn't in color. After finishing it, I was the only one who seemed to like it at all. Perhaps it's because I was able to see that it's a great movie and probably one of the most influential movies of all-time, not to mention that it was one of the most innovative ones when it was released. Everyone can have their own opinion, but honestly, I don't see how you couldn't at least appreciate it for being so influential. I can't tell you how many times just the Simpsons alone have made subtle references to it.
-
Wow, it might be a good idea to actually explain why you think they're overrated. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but hey, at least back them up with something.
-
Yeah and what the hell do they know? These were the same women falling in love with Titanic and seeing it nine times in the theater. Throw a mushy love story out there and most women can't resist.
-
I fail to see how Pearl Harbor is overrated, when it seems like everyone and his brother despises it, or at least acknowledges it as nothing more than average.
-
Off the top of my head, some of the more overrated films pre-1990 include... - Star Wars: Any of them, really, although Empire is a very good movie. Not to say that I don't like them, but the way some people (a lot, actually) base the way they live their lives on what they've learned and be told through the various movies, should just show you how seriously some people take it, when the whole concept is pretty silly when you actually think about it. The movies are good, but aren't so good that I'd apply the things I've "learned" from them to how I live my everyday life. The entire franchise is a perfect example of so many people taking it so seriously and overly-praising it, that you begin to dislike it in some ways. - E.T.: I may get flamed for this, but if that's the case, then so be it. Personally, I don't even really enjoy this movie. I'll give it credit for being a very good movie, but I've never liked it too much at all, even as a kid. Perhaps to some it's something amazing, but I could never quite get into it. Spielberg is a great director, but I would take a few of his other movies over this one any day of the week. - Animal House: Ok, bring on the flames, but to me, this is a funny movie that has reached a god-like status among many viewers over the years and I can't really see why. I appreciate it for its humor and the influence that it's had on pop culture since its release, but I still have trouble seeing it as the defining teen genre classic of any generation. I'm looking forward to the SE release in a couple of weeks, but that still doesn't change that I see this as a very funny movie and an influential one, as well, but not the king of the teen genre.

I'll do so if you'd really like me to, but it's going to be movies that are fairly well-known, but from before 1990. To be honest, most of the movies I've seen from the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's, I've enjoyed and wouldn't really call them overrated. But like I said, if you'd like me to, I will compile a small list fitting your criteria. And that's great that you're a film buff. I wish I knew more people like you. My point is however, the majority of the board doesn't really have the range to go too far back when it comes to this subject. You may be able to, but you don't exactly make up the majority of the board, do ya?
-
Do you really expect a board full a basically teens or people in the early 20's to do any different? I fit into that area, but I'd like to think I have a little more range in the movies I've seen or watch and can go back decades, if need be.

How did I know that you would be the first one here to defend Fight Club? Anyway, I suppose the fact that the more people talk about the movie, the more you look at it and see its flaws in a clearer light. Besides, I didn't say that people liking the movie tarnished it for me, I said it tended to take a little of the enjoyment out of it, the reason for which I explained above.

I'll agree with The Matrix for sure, as I didn't see the big deal about it, despite seeing it multiple times and wanting to like it. Even though it's a movie I love, when I hear the phrase "overrated movie," Fight Club is one of the first movies to come to mind. It's a great movie, no doubt about it, but honestly the way some people treat it as if it held the true way to live your life in it, hurts it in my eyes. I guess I'm just odd like that in that I'll like or love a movie, but once too many people start going crazy over it or talking about it non-stop, it usually seems a little less spectacular to me. As for the actual movie, like I said, it's great and does make you think quite a bit about life and different philosophies, but at the same time, it doesn't present anything that hadn't been discussed before. The movie (and perhaps the book) just got those concepts noticed by a larger group of people. It seems to me that Fight Club is one of those movies that many people praise to no end because to them, it's genius. And that's not to say that some elements of it aren't, but I think it's "genius" on a more mediocre level, if that's possible. To put it a better way, it's genius to the common man. Speaking of genius to the common man, that brings me to The Usual Suspects. Now, like Fight Club, this film is also a great one in my eyes, and even more intelligent than the former, to me. However, it's gotten to the point once again where people treat it as if it were the most amazing film ever created and the truth is, it's not. It's a very interesting movie, with an infamous twist, which I think is what's most appealing to many. Take away the ending, and I believe you have nothing more than a fairly decent movie with some solid actors. Perhaps it's the movies that people quote constantly and always mention as being of their liking in a faint attempt to seem intelligent that I've got a problem with. The two aforementioned movies fit into this category, and although they're both great, the fanboys they've attained over the years, have really taken something out of maybe not the movie, but the enjoyment of it.

KOCH DVDs, more specifically WWF Action
Bruiser Chong replied to iliketurtles's topic in Television & Film
Probably a bad copy. I've got the InVasion DVD from KOCH and it starts to freeze up during the RVD/Jeff match and the last match is completely skipped. A bummer, but probably just a defect. -
His dumb ass was banned for admitting that he was post whoring/trolling/whatever. One less dumbass around here.
-
Well, regardless, your stupid ass stole someone else's work...on multiple occassions. After the lynching that AustinHHH4Life got for doing it, why think that it's any less an offense for yourself? I mean, I can understand feeling the urge to copy someone's work if I couldn't write anything but bland material (which is the case with you), but nevertheless, one should never give into those temptations and to do so, should never be forgotten. And what's William Regal got to do with anything (you've since removed it from your post, but I still saw it)? That's flame-baiting right there, so now you're guilty of that, stealing someone else's work, and trolling. Hit the bricks, bitch.

OMG NO! 6,000 posts of absolute nothing gone forever? *puts on black armband and mourns* Jackass.

OMG WHERE ARE MY POSTS?! IF I'VE LOST THOSE I'VE LOST THE WILL TO LIVE AS WELL!! *hangs self with cable modem* But seriously, way to crash the board hours after I put together a new sig. Unlike most of the ones see here, this one took time to make.
