WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - January 2008
Bruiser Chong replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
I didn't get the TNT show or the Roundtable. Super. -
Mixtape stuff lately. Cam'ron's "Public Enemy #1," Lil' Wayne's "Da Drought 3" and the Nas/Al Green mash-up, more specifically.

"They don't come faster than David Sammartino." Jack Reynolds was awful. -
Speaking of ex-Cubs, the Pirates inked JOSE MACIAS to a minor league deal.

I hope he gets lit up.

Maybe I'm must desensitized, but I don't see the big deal. From the sounds of it, he wasn't a regular user. I know you can only take the word of any accused players with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't oppose a deal if they didn't trade the farm for him. Yeah, the Cubs have a boatload of second baseman, but this would be the first really good one and it'd give them a true leadoff hitter.

I watched the bootleg-quality version of the trailer several times this weekend. Seeing it on the official site was like seeing a completely different thing. And natch, it made it that much better looking. Makes me think I'll appreciate the prologue even more should I see it in IMAX.

Is the catcher that fatass goalie from the Mighty Ducks movies?
-
And the Mark Prior era comes to an anti-climatic end in Chicago as the Cubbies opt to non-tender him. Sounds like he wasn't going to give them any kind of a deal for 2009 and the Cubs weren't willing to risk cash on getting half a season out of him.

NFL Week 14 - Dolphins? More like LOLphins! Amirite?

And it will still be too much time. -
Yeah, I can't say I was a big UGK fan. They really made their mark before I even got into hip-hop. I've long been partial to Bun's guest spots and although his solo shot a couple years back was flaccid, I agree he is probably better off doing the solo thing.

Chris Masters & JN News have passed away...

The longer this goes without any confirmation, the more I think JN's "contact" just wanted to pull his leg so he had something to talk about tomorrow morning in ninth-grade U.S. history class. -

I need DVR or something. The old school cards are right up my alley as someone who admittedly grew up entirely on shitty early 90s WWF. But hell if I can actually make it through a complete show. By time I can skip past the first couple matches featuring top draws like Rene Goulet, Steve Lombardi and Moondog Rex, I've lost interest. -
This god damn obsession with speed. Didn't Juan Pierre teach them anything?

Remember the ridiculous purple sunglasses they put on them for the Survivor Series 1990 photos? That was gayer than the cut-off T-shirts and the fact that Hercules always seemed to be wearing tights that were too small so part of his ass would hang out. What was the deal with that? They were red! -

Apparently not, since The Warlord isn't dead yet. -
The 20th Anniversary edition is $9 at Best Buy this week. And I like how you go back five years and a lot of my posts read like I'm trying to write conservative papers for school.

Now Rotoworld is reporting the Willis to New York deal not looking like it'll go down. In other news, the Cubs' quest to acquire ANOTHER second baseman in the form of Brian Roberts would probably cost them Rich Hill and Sean Marshall. Marshall's redundant with Hill and Lilly, but I don't like the idea of the Cubs trading Hill. Not for Roberts, anyway. Hill isn't going to be a number one or two starter, but at the moment, he's a solid, inexpensive middle-of-the-rotation guy. None of this shit makes sense when Eric Patterson's supposed to be the second baseman of the near future.

One report has the Tigers talking to the Mets about Dontrelle Willis and possibly Pudge. I don't have a ton of faith in Dontrelle to bolster the Tigers' rotation, but it'll be interesting to see what they'd get in return if the deal goes through. Since it's the Mets we're talking about, you'd figure they wouldn't be sending back a major-league-ready starting pitcher, which is what the Tigers need.
-
And what's this make the Marlins' payroll, like 350 bucks?
-
Reports are that the Cubs have flipped Omar Infante and Will Oh-man to the Braves for a minor league pitcher. Infante was expendable and Oh-man was the proverbial white flag last season, their departure is fine with me. Hopefully the pitcher has some upside, though, as the Cubs have essentially traded three guys to get him.

I saw it had leaked, but figured I'd hold off and just buy it tomorrow. Wasn't really feeling the few tracks I heard a couple weeks back, but I'm a big enough Ghost fan to blindly buy it.

I haven't watched a full episode of RAW in maybe three or four years, so I hadn't seen the Carlito/Michaels match before. Pretty fantastic, although I was reminded how irritating Michaels' setup to Sweet Chin Music is. Stomping about always seemed like a great way to alert your opponent it was coming. I'm excited about January's schedule. I've got a copy of the Rumble, but it looks like a dub of a dub of perhaps another dub. -
You can get banana peppers on any sandwich they have. Unless I'm living in some oddity area where Subway actually lets you pick your "fixins."

I had similar issues with the video quality.
