Scoring two runs over 14 innings against Woody Williams and Wandy Rodriguez is embarrassing. Let's hope this anemic offense gets it together, because the Brewers aren't going to keep losing.
-
My favorite team is terrible again.
-
Soriano's got a tear in his quad and will probably not be back before Labor Day.
-
Good thing the Brewers are losing again, because the Cubs' offense has reverted back to resembling dog shit.

In a strange twist, Corey Patterson's little brother Eric is getting the call-up instead of Felix Pie. Patterson's been one of the Cubs' top prospects and is reportedly a more natural baseball player than his brother, but this move confuses me. Patterson's a second baseman, although he's gotten work in the outfield this year.

He's been cold at the dish since the second half began, but I still feel like viewing his absence as "no big loss" makes the costly seven years left on his contract look that much worse. Ideally, it'd be nice to see Murton get the majority of the starts in right. Maybe the heat of a pennant race isn't the ideal time to rebuild a guy's confidence, but I still remember the potential Murton showed after his call-up in 2005. He may never pan out, but I'll give him the nod over Angel Pagan in right field any day.

Girl's can be like that sometimes, guy's.

Soriano out two-to-four weeks with a strained quad. Hopefully the team's more accurate on returns with its position players than it is with its pitchers. This is a big blow, obviously, and a potential difference-maker in the NL Central. Trying to find the sliver of silver lining here, Soriano had been pretty cold at the dish and Theriot could prove to be an adequate lead-off man. Still, I get the feeling we'll be seeing a lot more Angel Pagan in the coming weeks.

I hope there comes a time when this Joba is mentioned where I don't immediately think of...

I love you, Bored. It wasn't until I got to the Glavine pictures that I realized you were just mocking and not an utter tool.

Time to see how the Cubs adjust to life without the 130-Million Dollar Man.
-
Well, they need SOMETHING to cheer about.

Jason Kendall is 0-for-21 in throwing out baserunners as a Cub. And what in the world is Ryan Dempster doing in here in a NON-SAVE situation?
-
A quad strain is a minor injury. Not if you wear a Cubs uniform.
-
Oh son of a bitch, Soriano's hurt.
-
Jason Kendall is Michael Barrett behind the plate with none of the offensive potential.

Look at the wind blowing out at Wrigley. Bold prediction: this one's decided by the bullpens.

Can someone please explain how Jose Mesa continues to not only find work, but find work on contending teams?
-
Didn't Ruth cork his bat?
-
This last week has sure made me dislike the Phillies. Adam Eaton is atrocious.

Marquis has a habit of looking decent-good the first couple of innings and then just completely falling apart before Lou has a chance to warm anyone else up. The replays indicate Theriot was just out, but again, we have the benefit of replays and freeze frames. Besides, that only made it 1-0 with two outs at that point. It wasn't like the Cubs unloaded the hit parade after that. He walked/hit the next three and then gave up two hits. He has no one to blame but himself for the runs that followed after the play at first.
-
I couldn't believe how quickly he unraveled. He threw less than 20 pitches through the first two innings and by most accounts, looked untouchable. Then he crashed and burned in Jason Marquis-like fashion.

Taylor/Perfect is fine, except it was cut short due to the injury. The rest is really inoffensive filler and hardly "brutal." I don't any of the matches you threw in that category other than the main even go past the six or seven minute mark. -

Does anyone's cable company use a rental format with their On Demand programming? Mine (Comcast) started using one recently and it's a pain for longer programs. When I first got 24/7, I could start a program and come back to it days later and start where I'd left off. This rental thing only keeps it in place for 24 hours, after which it starts from the beginning when you go to watch it. This is tough for the PPVs, since I'm usually only able to watch one over the course of a couple days. Another pain is that for some reason, I have to subscribe to the 24/7 package a couple of times a month. I'm never charged any more, but doing this resets the programming to the beginning, too. As for program-related content, the PTW was one of the first things I've seen since ordering the package that made me wish I had a DVD recorder. -
The Brewers are undefeated following games in which its manager fights with his players. Color me unimpressed with Al's Phillies tonight.
