I'm assuming you got it to work because I just got an email from a fellow seller linking me to one of your auctions because he thought you were possibly using one of my pictures as your own. Imagine my surprise to see "tmoysey" as the seller. No harm, though, as they just look like the pictures I used to take.

Jason Kendall's already been demoted into a platoon situation with KOYIE HILL. This may be the most fearsome platoon the Cubs have fielded since Ramon Martinez and Rey Ordonez. At this point, they might as well give Soto another shot. He's probably not going to amount to anything special, but he's certainly an upgrade over these guys.

I don't think I've had a Hot Pocket since seeing Jim Gaffigan's Beyond the Pale well over a year ago. Breakfast: Chocolate milk with two scoops of chocolate whey protein Lunch: turkey sandwich with muenster cheese, black peper, spinach, and a few dabs of Miracle Whip on WW bread and a side of cracked pepper and olive oil Triscuits. Dinner: Marinated chicken stuffed in a WW pita with spinach, blue cheese crumbles, and some Miracle Whip times two. Snacks: String cheese, a few tablespoons of peanut butter, grapes, couple of bananas and a Monster Energy drink.

I may put the (OMG!) jinx on it, but if the Cubs keep playing anywhere close to how they've been going the last two months, this team's got a legit shot of a landing a playoff berth.
-
I can't recall a time when the Cubs were getting two-out hits with such regularity. Nine of their 10 runs in the Cards series so far have come with two down.

Dusty's face is disturbing in that interview. That wasn't legit was it? And flame if you want, but I really dig the old SNME shows. That's a badass coat Volkoff's sporting in the opening match.

The Brewers' pen hasn't even been too shabby this year. Their starting rotation is what's been on the skids the last month or two. It's possible Linebrink turns things around, but his stock had really plummeted since the outset of the season.

Wrestling Observer News (March 1986)

It was originally speculated that there would be a Savage/Hogan main event; possibly a lumberjack match. Had that been the case, Wrestlemania 2 may not have gone down as one of the most forgettable of the franchise. Let's not forget that Steamboat was originally slated to wrestle Bret Hart, too. They really dropped the ball on the sequel. As you'll see when I eventually post news bits from Mania's fallout, this show was a HUGE financial catastrophe. -
- William Perry was quoted as saying he would "absolutely not" agree to appear on any wrestling show. - Wrestlemania will take place in three locations. The main event for the NY arena is Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper in a boxing match; the LA main will be Hogan vs. Bundy for the title; the main in Chicago was originally scheduled to be a $100,000 winner-take-all battle royal with wrestlers and celebrities. Perry was supposed to be the main hook, but doesn't look like he'll be there now. Meltz speculates it may have been Perry messing with Vince to show that he can't be bought by wrestling promoters. Other unconfirmed matches include Bruno vs. Ventura, Savage vs. Santana, and Bulldogs vs. Dream Team (with a title change expected). - SNME for 3/1 was taped on 2/15 in Phoenix. Featured was Hogan vs. Muraco, Mr. T vs. Orton is a boxing match and Bulldogs vs. Dream Team for the titles. Muraco was managed by Heenan for some reason. Bundy interfered and gave Hogan five splashes after the match. Piper and Orton wound up double-teaming the "cretinous man with the Mohawk." Meltz notes T was recently fired from A-Team for being too obnoxious for the actors to handle. The KO in the match came in the second round because T was blown up midway through the first one (which lasted two minutes). - Savage beat Santana for the IC title on 2/8 in Boston, but since it won't air until 2/22, Santana will continue to defend the belt until then. - Jake the Snake is in as a villain and brings a snake to ringside, that he lets slither over his fallen opponents. - Other newcomers include Dory Funk (who did a run-in during a JYD/Terry Funk match), Trapper John (a guy who will make us all wish for more Uncle Elmer) and Alexis Smirnoff (useless since the injury to Volkoff wasn't as serious as first thought). - WWF made front-page news in Northern California over an incident where the police were called about a disturbance near the arena in Fresno. As soon as the cops showed, Piper, Orton, and Muraco split. Piper had punched someone at the restaurant. The cops chased their car in a 100-MPH race around Fresno, resulting with the heels crashing. They then fled on foot and lost the police. Later that evening, the cops got a call of another disturbance, this time, at the Holiday Inn. They got there to find Orton on the roof nude and Piper in the lobby causing a ruckus. They shot Orton twice with a taser gun, which didn't work since he was "loaded." Once they calmed down, they were arrested and spent the night in jail. No charges were brought. - Jesse Ventura got his wish: he'll be a secondary lead in an upcoming Schwarzeneggar movie.

Yeah, I don't recall the precise team, but this happened since WCW taped three months worth of shows at a time. -

Anyone with 24/7 may have seen the MSG card from 11/90, where Kerry Von Erich is defending the title against Mr. Perfect, even though he'd actually lost the title to him weeks before in a match that had yet to air. -

Since it looks like these will be met with open arms, what I plan to do is give each month its own thread. I'll add when I can and in the meantime, start a separate thread that will serve as an archive of sorts and hopefully be pinned. This way, links to all of the threads will be available right there. I don't want to put every single WO newsletter in one thread, since I don't care for threads that eventually grow to be dozens of pages long. -
I picked up a lot of WO newsletters last fall and figured some of the content would of interest. If these garner any kind of response, I'll start posting a mix of WWF/NWA/UWF notes, but for now, we'll stick with the reason I bought them: WWF notes. WWF tidbits from the February 17, 1986 issue: - Wrestlemania II changed from 3/31 to 4/7 for booking reasons. Meltz speculates a Hogan vs. Savage lumberjack match as a possible main event. - Main event in San Francisco saw Hogan beat Adrian Adonis, which was labeled as fairly heatless. This is surprising because of Hogan's popularity and the gay act getting Adonis over as of late. - Wouldn't surprise Meltz for the Bulldogs to win the titles at Wrestlemania. - The Wrestling Album's a bomb. It peaked at No. 84 on the charts and none of the singles took off. Meltz suspects it still made money, but not the kind that was expected. - A 2/7 show features a double main event of Roddy Piper vs. Hillbilly Jim and Uncle Elmer vs. Jesse Ventura. - Hogan was on Love Boat and heard it was awful. - Talks about a passage about Vince from Howard Cossell's new book. Vince called him up in 1984 and wanted him to be his announcer. Cossell flat-out refused, citing doing boxing was bad enough and he wasn't going to kill his career to call phony wrestling matches. Vince responded with a "fuck you" and told him wrestling was going to be the biggest sport in the country and that he didn't need him anyway. - Says he finally saw Hogan vs. Savage from MSG, but that it wasn't good. - Jake Roberts is WWF-bound. Since this one was pretty short on news, I'll post the following week's stuff in a bit.

Is too.

I'm not sure what kind of club this is, but I'd probably go with Option B given that you top the fit off with a nice pair of shoes. Option A sounds more like something you'd wear in a spelling bee.

I'm content with everyone on the Cubs' roster except for Jones, Eyre, Pagan, Kendall and to an extent, Marquis. I know upgrades could be made elsewhere, but I'm digging everyone else. The rotation isn't build around a bunch of flamethrowers and perhaps subsequently, the Cubs have four starters on pace to pitch 200 innings this season. I'd like to see some more power in the lineup, but I am impressed with that they've been winning despite the lack of the longball. They went some 10-plus games without a homer and still won the majority of those. I can't recall a recent Cubs team that would've done that. As for Milwaukee, I'm surprised their starting rotation hasn't garnered more attention. They've been AWFUL lately. It's somewhat of a surprise they're still in first, to be honest. They also have a heavy dependence on the longball, which isn't really a good thing.

Exactly. I understand that the Yanks and Sox have two of the biggest fanbases in baseball, but a seven-game difference near the end of July is not a small figure. There are tighter races going on around baseball and you hear almost nothing about them.
-
*wonders when anyone's going to start taking note of the NL Central race*
-
The Mets playing at Wrigley is a bit of a sore spot for me.
-
Are Red Sox fans actually concerned about their seven-game lead?

I went to a game at The Cell last summer and there's definitely not much to do around the area. Real nice park, but the surrounding area can't even be compared to the one in Wrigleyville. Speaking of Wrigleyville, we wound up there after midnight one of the nights via taxi and I hadn't realized we were so close to Wrigley Field. I looked to my left and bam, there's Wrigley Field staring back at me. Weird moment. Unfortunately, the guy we were staying with was absolutely trashed at this point, so we wound up running around in circles all night getting nothing accomplished other than waiting in line for an hour at the Taco Bell across the street and accidently drifting into Boy's Town while searching for a particular bar. The guy had a boss condo in the middle of the city, though, so there was a lot within walking distance of us. I don't remember the exact location, but it was across the street from a big ass Old Navy.

Is this the first cycle of the TNT series? I ask because it's got less than a year of shows left, so I'm wondering if it goes back to the beginning or they start showing a different series. I hope the latter, because TNT may be the worst show the company ever put out. I enjoy the novelty of seeing guys like Mike Sharpe and SD Jones get interviewed, but there's almost nothing worth watching again on these shows. Something like old Wrestling Challenge or Superstars would be great, especially since these are the shows where most story developments happened during the 1980s.

I've been meaning to remove it for weeks. It's not a case of pessimism. More a case of laziness.

I'd prefer them to keep going in order with PTW. I'm interested in seeing the hype for stuff like the first Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, etc. Plus, it's not like the quality of the programs get better in 1989.
