And just as quickly as it fell apart for the Cubs, it does likewise for the Rockies. Pair of singles, an error and Soriano driving in two with a single.

Games like this show why the Cubs probably shouldn't consider real contenders. Blow a five-run lead in the ninth without recording a single out thanks to our super pair of relievers we locked up a couple off-seasons ago. Seriously, Scott Eyre shouldn't have a job right now. At least a fan charged at Howry.

So I guess at the end of the day, Kevin Sullivan booked his wife's murder. -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Well, I guess we can put a halt to the warm, fuzzy recollections. I don't really care what the cause of this was, that he killed two people is really all that's needed to be known. -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

At the risk of sounding like an ass, I wasn't entirely surprised to come home and find that someone had purchased the Chris Benoit DVD from my eBay store while I was gone. I remember thinking two weeks back when I listed it that it'd be there for a while. But, man, you guys are making me uncomfortably paranoid about what happened. I'd really hate to think that Benoit did anything close to what some are speculating. -
Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

This is quite possibly the dumbest theory anyone could've whipped up for what went down. So did the killer just hang out in the house for hours and hours, all the while being aware that others had been alerted he'd already killed? -

Not that it's important, but this company has never looked so stupid. Most shocking death since Owen. -
Hawk is such an idiot. Where does he get this notion that there's a triple-play? If there's ever a moment where I may feel sorry for the Sox' situation, I just need to think of Hawk. He makes a case for worst announcer in sports.

Everyone should listen to the audio of the rundown. Ron Santo's great if for no other reason than he just sounds like the casual fan in his living room who's unaware everything he's saying is being broadcast.

Uribe standing directly in Pagan's path wiped out everything that happened after that. Thank goodness, too, because it was like a little league game once the collision happened. But in true Cub form, Pagan STILL got caught in a rundown that counted on the next play.

I'm seeing on ESPN News that former MLB pitcher Rod Beck has passed away at 38.

HAHAHA... My ex-fiancee is in jail on a felony charge!

Judging by the picture, I'm not sure how you weren't aware right off the bat that Melissa Pena was in fact a lying, cheating, drug addicted whore. -
Look at the bright side: it seems that "AAA piece of shit" Rich Hill finally took Ozzie's advice and started throwing strikes.

That is really good. Really. ...good.

If only it was against a team worth a damn. Seriously, I take back my preseason prediction. White Sox-4th place sounds about right now. As the Texas series proved, it doesn't really matter if it's against a team that's worth a damn or not. There are no given victories on the North side of Chicago.

Name five of the greatest TV Champions
Bruiser Chong replied to JN News's topic in General Wrestling
Scrolling down the main page, I glanced at this thread and because of who lasted posted in it, thought it was called "Name five of the greatest physiques." And I was all about to bust in here and call it a done contest with Rick Rude as the undisputed winner. Carry on. -
God, I love Heenan. Looks like some good content for this fan of crappy WWF programming. SS '93 is probably among my favorite PPVs, if not my most-watched. Heenan is absolutely GOLD during the Harts match. Heenan: (referring to the back of Stu Hart's Bruins jacket) Oh, isn't that nice, he's got a picture of Helen on the back of his jacket? His impersonation of Stu, which mostly consists of old man noises, is umatched, too. Glad to get it, as I had a match from the March to Wrestlemania X taped over most of that match.

PTW is not generally a show you go to for the wrestling content, but my god, what an awful lineup. They're really bad about giving you the same match-ups multiple times. Maybe not necessarily the exact match, but the same pairings. And it's never anything that warranted another showing. Shadows/Stallions was boring the first time, why would I want to see it again the next week? And who the hell wants to see Frenchy Martin vs. Outback Jack once, let alone three times? I've had the channel for five weeks and have already seen that match three times. I never noticed how so many of WCW's PPV bouts went on for so long. I may get blasted for it, but unless it's something real exceptional, I don't care for long matches. I know, I know, they build a story and blah, blah, blah, but I'm noticing a lot of the long matches don't necessarily do that. They're just long. That's dull to me.

I guess the Cubs found another way to lose this afternoon. Down 5-0 early, they eventually tied it but couldn't push across any more runs, despite 13 hits and six walks. It comes back to terrible situational hitting, including another bases loaded, no out scenario that resulted in zero runs. Tied at 5 in the ninth, they caught Kenny Lofton in a rundown between second and third, but defensive wizard Cesar Izturis was apparently well off the bag and Lofton just slid around him to get back. The next batter singled him home to win the game. Losing a series in which the best starter the other team throws at you has an ERA well over 5 isn't something contenders do. But then it's important to remember that only in the NL Central could they be considered contenders. And barely at that. At least they got rid of Barrett, though, so they don't need to worry about any more little league blunders. Poor Ron Santo.

Dusty Baker come on down. I heard Bradley and Billy Beane got in a argument over the existence of Dinosaurs. Wasn't that Carl Everett who said dinosaurs didn't exist? Aramis Ramirez comes back tomorrow and I'm interested to see what becomes of Mike Fontenot. He's supposed to be better than Theriot and he absolutely has been. Theriot's regressed into the below-average player he was projected to be, hitting for no power, unimpressive BA, and poor OBP.

- Joe Girardi has wisely declined the O's mangerial position. - The A's have DFA Milton Bradley. If the Cubs didn't have a surplus of underperforming outfielders already, I'd say they should go for him.
-
That all depends. Can Barrett catch a knuckler? Sliders seemed to give him problems, so I'm going to assume "no."
-
If the Fathers had a better offensive lineup, they'd easily be the best team in the NL. As it is, I can see them making postseason again and looking like they don't belong when they can't score any runs.
-
I wanna add that I wouldn't have a problem with the trade if this Bowen guy was a big upgrade defensively (I don't know if he is or not) and the Cubs weren't hurting offensively elsewhere. As poor as Barrett had been at the plate so far, he was still one of the team's better hitters. If we had a productive rightfielder, this may not be such a big deal.

Jesus Christ. I wasn't in favor of keeping the guy, but once again, Jim Hendry takes a once valuable commodity and gets nothing in return.
