Darren Sutton is leaving the Brewers to fill Brennaman's spot in Arizona. That's an odd move, though, since Sutton has always come off as a genuine Brew Crew fan.

So does this hint at what may have helped Mota's return to Dodgers form with the Mets?
-
Well, with the Cubs saying they're going to up the payroll in '07, they'd be idiots not to give Ramirez what he wants. Their offense is already in trouble without him and who knows what Lee will bring to the table next year. I say if they were able to justify signing Neifi and Glendon to two-year deals, they can pony up the cash to keep Ramirez.
-
Yeah, how dare we be upset for losing our second best hitter. But fuck 'em both. Hendry should've sealed the deal earlier and Ramirez for worrying more about money than loyalty. But whatever, he'll get paid an assload of money with this weak market, so more power to him.

Remember when so many people were calling for LaRussa's head?
-
My god. I didn't think it could happen. I thought they'd do better than a sweep, but I didn't think they'd actually win it all. Eckstein for MVP.
-
In my mind, I was thinking, "No way he messes this up." Good god.

We're also seeing the downside of a team that walks infrequently and relies on stringing together hits to score the bulk of its runs. They tend to be streaky and right now, they're cold. It doesn't help that they've run into some great pitching and when that's the case, you aren't going to be able to string together a lot of hits.

Or Alan Q. Keiper.

Someone didn't watch many Cubs games this season.

You're acting like the Cards were fumbling all over the place and still won. They made mental snafu (Pujols getting thrown out). Other than that, they scattered hitters against some very good pitchers.
-
Yeah, but who's to say Monroe could've caught that ball? The fact that he made light contact with it was only because he decided to do a bellyflop for it. Otherwise, I think it just drops.
-
I'll admit the Tigers are continuously shooting themselves in the foot, but give some credit to St. Louis. Just because I team puts it out there for you doesn't ensure anything.
-
Wow, poor guy.
-
I'm just finding this interesting, since everyone had the Tigers. I won't go as far to say as I thought the Cards would win the series (they haven't, after all), but I didn't think it'd be the effortless beating everyone was foreshadowing.
-
I think a lot of people wrote off tonight's game because a virtual no-name was starting. That and the Tigers looked unbeatable since their first loss of the postseason. What a lot of people forgot to note is that you don't get to the Series by being a crappy team and Reyes is supposed to be the Cards' next big thing.
-
Is Jim Leyland making a god damn pitching change with two outs in the ninth inning of a six-run game? My god. I'll bet even LaRussa's saying, "Damn."
-
Dear lord, Neifi Perez makes a World Series appearance.
-
Reyes is gonna close this out at this rate. Tigers hitters are finally back to being them impatient selves.
-
That one falls into the category of believers that think singing REALLY loud = good singing. She basically went screamo on that last line.
-
Considering how booming this park has been during the postseason, it's just ungodly dead right now.

Oh my god, shut up McCarver.

Oh my god, shut up McCarver.

Verlander's weakness is being exposed once again: lots of strikeouts and deep at-bats have him at over 80 pitches through five.
-
Verlander obviously thinks it's Juan Pierre on first, not Juan Encarnacion.
