    World Series: Tigers vs. Cardinals

Albert! It's early and the Tigers are certainly more than capable of coming back, but I'd hate to be one of those people who paid $75 for SRO tickets.

    The Office, Season 3

The last part of the third episode sounds like it could be fantastic.

    World Series: Tigers vs. Cardinals

It may be betraying my Cubs' fandom, but part of me wants to see the Cards win, if for no other reason than everyone has already written them off.

    World Series: Tigers vs. Cardinals

I don't expect the Cards to win the series, but just about everyone seems to be underrating them. I don't foresee a sweep.

    Cpl Kirchner Passes away

Natural causes? He wasn't that old, was he? Anyway, didn't know much of him other than his brief run with the WWF and the tidbits about what an ass he was.

NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets

It doesn't matter that they won, does it? Let's hope Wagner pitches two scoreless innings in a tied game tomorrow night, only to see the Cards win it in extras off someone like *draws random name from hat* Roberto Hernandez. They'll have lost the series, but at least Wagner will have been clutch, essentially making it a wash.

Didn't last year's NLCS only go six games?

Uh oh. We may be seeing three times as many posts in this thread within the next 10 minutes than we've seen all day.

    Good call taking down Carpenter.

    2006-07 MLB Offseason Thread

I gave up on Cedeno long ago. He didn't impress me much in his short stint with the club in 2005, so I was surprised to hear he was supposed to be our shortstop of the future. If this club wants to compete, they can't be wasting a spot on Cedeno. As for getting A-Rod, it would probably take Zambrano or Hill and at this point, I don't think the Cubs can afford to deal either one. Zambrano should be untouchable and while Hill still has a way to go before you consider him a star, he's easily their number two guy right now. No way they should be dealing what little reliable starting pitching they have for some offense. They need offense, but pitching is what really helped do them in this year. What you gain with A-Rod's offense, you lose with another vacant starting pitcher slot. I also hear the Cubs want to heavily pursue Carlos Lee, which I'm torn on. I don't think superstars all around the diamond is the answer. The team needs a balanced lineup, not another team of mashers. I'm pretty high on Matt Murton and think the team should address issues up the middle before they concern themselves too much with replacing the guy who was their second best hitter after the break.

Does he not realize what team he signed with? Or that the GM who just hired him has now moved onto trying to lock up their current third baseman?

    2006-07 MLB Offseason Thread

Hearing Lou in the booth shook my confidence in him. That said, this another case of Hendry and the organization going for the quick fix. A team that lost 96 games this year realistically thinks they'll compete next year. What an inept organization.

He was in the doghouse there, anyway.

    2006-07 MLB Offseason Thread

The problem is, the team's still convinced it's going to be competing in 2007. Granted, the NL Central is going to be in shambles, but there isn't enough this team can do this off-season towards building a team that can compete for years. A complete tear-down isn't necessary, but it's stupid that the team believes the fans won't accept a rebuilding process. I mean, the team lost 96 games this year and they didn't even have the silver-lining of rebuilding. Just do it already.

Cubs are expected to announce Sweet Lou as their new manager Monday. Anything's an upgrade over Dusty, but I sense Hendry's made yet another mistake.

ALCS: Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland A's

Didn't want to see the A's lose, but quite the finish there. Fitting end, to say the least. Again, I don't see how the Tigers are losing the World Series.

NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets

Yeah, I saw that. Just sounds like sour grapes to me. Contrary to popular belief, if there's a pitch most major leaguers can hit, it's the fastball.

NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets

Which is more important: a sweep of the Yankees during the regular season, which you seemed to have written off as an inconsequential thing anyway, or to still be playing in October, while the Yankees are at home? No, he's saying it's stupid and short-sighted to boo someone on your team because they fail. If it's a constant thing, then yes, there comes a time when it becomes somewhat justified, even though I don't see how it helps them do any better. But Wagner's been one of the most reliable forces on this team, so it's stupid to write off all the good he's done, while calling for the guy's head if he fails. It'd be ironic if Al had been booing, but last I checked, he doesn't represent the entire Philadelphia Phillies fanbase or vice-versa.

    Remixes

But he'll "put guys outside yo house." I guess I'm the only one here who preferred the original "Hustlin'" over the remix. Jeezy's awful and the track houses one of Hov's lazier efforts. I mean, the guy even used one of Ross' weaker lines from the original. I knew people who crapped on it when it was coming from Ross, but acted like it was hot when Jay said it. Oh and for the record, I primarily like the original because of the claps that are missing from the remix. They aren't all that prominant, but they added a nice undertone to the overall track.

I'd never heard of them until this afternoon, when my brother made note of liking them.

Okay, you win. He's horrible and can't even get a save the right way.

NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets

I understand being mad at the guy, but I also think there needs to be an understanding that no matter how great you are in the game of baseball, failure is a common thing. Wagner's collecting a lot of money, but considering where the Mets are, I think he's been worth it. The main complaint I heard from Mets fan throughout 2005 was how the team lacked a real closer and how if Looper hadn't been closing games, the team would've been in a much better position. Well, you guys got your closer and regardless of how meaningless you think those 40 saves were, the fact remains Wagner preserved 40 leads for the team this season. That's big. I know the regular season doesn't matter now, but even then, Wagner's done a good job in this postseason. It's easier to dwell on the negative, but would Looper have held onto all three of those leads?
