My checking account would be respectable if I didn't have a slight obsession with clothing. I'm not into the whole cookie cutter A&F look most white guys my age rock, so I've got to do a lot of mixing and matching from other sources. I invariably wind up with hoodies and shirts that have at least modest urban ties (that's one way of putting it), but nothing gaudy. Of the top of my head, I've got seven or eight hoodies I wear or will wear when it gets cool out, four or five pairs of jeans, 15 pairs of sneakers, and between 15-20 t-shirts (excluding your basic solid shirts). I've got a closet full of collared shirts from when I worked at the city's newspaper last year, too. I got several compliments on what I wore today (basic royal blue Zoo York hoody with white zipper, matching blue Keds, and a pair of dark tint jeans). Like I said, you need to get creative with putting together a wardrobe when you aren't content wearing the same stripped polos and t-shirts with eagles slapped on them. You wanna check out some cats who are REAL into their fashion, give a look over at Styleforum.net. Holy shit. Don't wear ANYTHING with a visible logo, don't ever buy mall jeans, and for the love of god, please buy some really hideous sweaters.

Wasn't this show just on 24/7 last spring?

How long has Vlad been running like he's wearing shackles?
-
I despise these best-of-five series.
-
Jason Marquis is definitely the guy you want up if you want to stop the parade of walks.
-
There's the Dempster I remember from his last go around as a starter. Christ.
-
I could never forget that moment, but only because of Ted Lilly's reaction.
-
We'll know if it's really different if Dempster gets through the next inning without giving up a three-run shot to Chris Young.

Is there any concern amongst Phillies fans that it's taking Lidge around 90 pitches to close out his saves lately?

I remember Matt coming out and being all celebratory when the South Siders won in '05 and then, unlike you being here regularly taking your lumps during 06 and 07, decided to show back up about, oh, last week or so I thought that was the case, but I refused to look through years of Matt Young posts to confirm.

However, I do disagree with Porter's hope that the Cubs remain without a championship. Honestly, would it be that awful for you? In a three-year span, I saw: - the Red Sox win (less futile company) - the White Sox win (big rival, less futile company) - the Cardinals win (biggest rival) - the Red Sox win again (rub it in) Plus, you live in San Diego, far, far away from Chicago. It's not like you'd be surrounded by Cub fans rubbing it in your face at every turn of a corner.

Yeah, let's not include any Cubs on that list. We all know they've got a fistful of rings keeping them company at night. ...sorry...seeing Kendall's name on there is what set me off. - Kerry Wood - Ryan Dempster - Aramis Ramirez - Bob How---haha. I can't do it.
-
I actually agree with Porter (my god). I don't know how anyone can really back two teams in the same sport. Maybe you've got your favorite and another team in the other league you don't mind seeing do well. But certainly not two teams you actually get passionate about.
-
Yeah, but they weren't so bad that they should've been counted down against the TIGERS' bullpen.

I don't see how anyone could hate her either, BUT, favorite actress? How's that possible when the last five years of your resume stacks up like this (thanks, IMDB!): - Nick & Norah... - House Bunny - Charlie Bartlett - Big Momma's House 2 - 5 episodes of ER - 2 episodes of CSI - 40-Year-Old Virgin - Raise Your Voice I like the chick, don't get me wrong, but that's some pretty liberal use of the word "favorite."

No one can complain about their favorite team's championship drought unless this fellow was the president the last time the team won it all:
-
I think the Phillies win the series, though I suspect the Brewers won't make it easy. And I'll reserve any comments on the Cubs series.

I know that with the removal of people such as Ozzie, AJ, Hawk, and Kenny, this would be a much more tolerable team. I actually liked to see them do well before this current regime came to be. Times change, though, as evident by the fact that my phone just got blown up with calls and texts about this. Apparently I haven't hid my disdain for this team very well.

This is awful.
-
Jesus, the pair of White Sox dinosaurs are going to carry these guys into the playoffs.
-
If anything, it reveals the real lack of rotation depth amongst many of the playoff teams.
-
Am I wrong for being so surprised the news of a guy getting his leg amputated got ZERO reaction in here (aside from the initial mention of it)?

That reminds me of something I've been wondering for a couple months: Are the Angels really that great? I'm not trying to discredit them, because luck or not, it takes something special to rack up 100 wins. But how much of that is a product of playing in a division with three awful teams and nothing else? They played teams like the Red Sox and Rays hard, so they're obviously capable of hanging with the big boys. But are they the juggernaut of a team their record suggests?
-
Are there any fans of playoff teams that believe at ALL in their team? It's a sad day when it seems like *I'm* the most optimistic person about their favorite team in the playoffs. It's tough to find fault with a team that won 97 times this season, but there are things I could complain about. I choose not to, since every playoff team has at least one weakness. Now, get back with me if the Cubs are a game away from elimination, but for now, I'm happy they had such a strong season, which has put them in a nice playoff position.

It's a bizarre time, but since I don't have any obligations the following day, I won't complain. It's still a silly schedule. And I think a thread for each league during the NLDS is just fine.
