And just like that, we're tied.
-
I noticed the Pirates won, which means that win or lose, the Cubs have secured sole possession of last place in a six-team division.
-
Royals now lead by one and the Twins are up three. Uh oh.
-
And now it's tied and Leyland's brought all three of his top relievers in. I know this is an important game, but they'd better pray Rogers goes deep on Tuesday.
-
Whew. The Astros' impressive run was amazing, but I'm glad to know we won't have another postseason of "OMG IS THIS ROGER'S LAST GAME?!@!" The Royals aren't going down without a fight, either. They were down 6-0 and have pulled to within one in the eighth. For what it's worth, Zumaya threw almost 40 pitches and Rodney had zero command. I question how smart it is to let your best reliefer throw that many pitches so close to Game 1.

You should be happy due to the fact that the Tigers haven't had a winning season since 1993 and haven't made the playoffs since 1987. Plus their magic number is 1 to win the division. Then shouldn't you be happy the Yankees have won four World Series since 1996?

Jim Hendry will meet with Dusty Baker on Monday regarding his future with the team. Now, all common sense points to there only being one outcome of said meeting, but this is the Cubs we're talking about.
-
P.S. a Pirates win tomorrow secures the Cubs sole possession on last place.
-
I knew those tightrope acts Cubs pitchers were doing in extras would come back to haunt them. Ryu pitched around a leadoff triple, but couldn't do likewise with the leadoff double the next inning. It was also funny to see Carlos Zambrano not only makes better contact than John Mabry, but has more plate discipline.
-
Tigers down 7-0 in the first. The Twins still need to win tomorrow coupled with a Tigers loss, but there's a chance the Twins may still snag the Central.
-
Yeah, I doubt it has anything to do with him catching five of the last six games and them playing an early day game after a night game today.
-
Greg Maddux is going to the playoffs!
-
I guess Boston was smart to pass on that fourth year after all.
-
Yeah, but it's not really fair Jim Hendry go unpunished. He's the one who acquired roughly 14 second basemen during the year. It seemed absurd when he was extended before the season started and it seems even dumber now.
-
Kenny Lofton's awesome. It's 7-0 Rockies over the Cubs in the third and I must say, I almost feel sorry for Dusty. He shouldn't be back, but it's unfortunate he's the only one who will be punished for this season, while the higher-ups are left untouched.
-
Scott Spezio? Are you kidding me? They should've just left Sheets in to notch the 160-pitch complete game.
-
I'd say the Twins are probably gonna need to "settle" for the WC. I'm not too upset about that, since as a I said before, I don't want to see the A's and Twins play against in each other in the first round.

I love how people are dogging Boof Bonser on the basis of his absurd name.
-
I hope I didn't jinx it. Tigers just plated two to pull to within two.
-
It took Jenks 29 pitches to get two outs in the inning and three to strike out Nevin. Ugh. Looks like we'll still be tied in the AL Central.
-
Damn, the Royals with 19 hits against Detroit tonight. This ninth in Minnesota's about as exciting as regular season can get. Too bad it's all up to Nevin.
-
The Tigers blew a 5-0 lead, but loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Unfortunately for them, Brent Clevin tried to tag on a shallow popup to center and was out by plenty. As the ball hung in the air, the announcers said it wouldn't get the run in and were shocked when Clevin tagged and tried to score. They didn't say much when he was thrown out. It was more like a series of strange groans and other noises.

My problem with the Phillies in the postseason is that it'll give all the Abreu haters the false idea that trading him was really what got them going. Never mind the return of Myers and Wolf, or the developing Hamels, or the acquisition of Moyer, or Rollins and Utley remembering how to hit. Nope, it's all because they traded away Abreu.

So Pedro's done for the season, according to ESPN News.
